The Durley Dean Hotel - Bournemouth 50.71643, -1.88794

The pool was advertised by hotel; which has been out of service since July 2009. The front entrance door bell did not work and kept us knocking for 20 minutes to get back to our room at 1 AM. The front desk did not have a visual map for surrounding locations as Best Western did when I checked across the street for directions and we misguided by hotel staff a couple of times as well. Over all, You get what you pay for !!!

I went to this hotel for a weekend stay with my girlfriend . It is a really nice hotel with some great falcitities and i would recommend it to anyone to stay in. The staff were really geat and understanding. I unfortunately got food poisoning with diarrhoea and vomiting (not from anything I ate at the hotel) on the last night. The staff were really understanding and let me and my girlfriend stay after check out time (till about 4 or 5pm) until I felt well enought o travel. It is in a great location and has a fantstic breakfast. As I have said before, I highly recommend this hotel Dave

As our trip was booked in excess of 6 months in advance we assumed we would have some of the best rooms in the hotel. This was most deinately not the case. the first room we were showed too was damp smelt of damp and the walpaper was hanging off at the seams the tv did not work and the lights flickered every couple of minutes. the staff did not want to move us at first and as was a special occasion my girlfriend was in tears and i was looking to go to a new hotel. eventually we were moved to a room just about big enough for the bed but at least it was dry. later on food service in the bar took near on 45 minutes to be delivered and at the end of the trip drinks had been charged to my room that were not ours. as we had booked 8 rooms in the hotel i expected much better service than this and would recommend somewhere else completley if you want to enjoy your stay.

A nice hotel near the centre of bournemouth. My room had not yet undergone refurbishment so did not look like the pictures but was clean and comfortable although there was a strange smell. The breakfasts were excellant. the car park is small and I never managed to get a space but there are roads near by with free parking.

We stayed at the Durley Dean the weekend of 26th June 2009. We were given one of the refurbished rooms. The double bed was large and the batrhroom, though small, was immaculately clean. Coffee and tea making facilities though no fridge. The breakfast was the usual array of hot and cold food and was fresh and tasty. Fresh coffee by the pot. The staff were pleasant.

This hotel is in a good location close to beach and nightlife. I picked this hotel as allowed a 1 night stay on a Saturday . Most of the other hotels require a 2 night stay. Twin room was large but the en suite was tiny and hot. Overall this is a good place to stay for the night

Nice clean hotel friendly staff although too many foreign staff not able to understand English properly it took 3times to order and get my drink right breakfast was a let down eggs swimming in oil not fresh orange juice

Quite impressed, good location, very good value, only a short walk into town and beach, had large room with all facilities even free wi-fi, very pleasent stay, would recommend

Smallish Hotel. Staff were attentive and pleasant. Public areas need a makeover but room was clean and fresh. No air conditioning which is a bit of a pain. Nice small swimming pool, clean. Breakfast good although items seem to be in short supply at the busy point. Overall value for money and a good location.

hotel was value for money we went on dbb for 2 nights the evening meal was nice but small portions breakfast on the second day was cold

Haven't stayed in a "proper hotel for a while, got far too used to Travelodge for simple one night stays. Used this hotel due to going to the BIC, so it was very convenient. Really liked the hotel. Room was big enough and very clean. Breakfast was great, although they did seem to start running out of food quite early during the breakfast.

The Reception staff make this hotel, they are so well briefed and to an excellent standard. First impressions DO COUNT and they give an excellent impression. Some areas looked a little tired around the hotel, and breakfast was not too well organised but on the whole a very good hotel. Room was great with all the bits and pieces you come to expect - coffee, toiletries, hairdrier etc. Location was great, close to seafront and theatres and not too far from shopping centre. Had its own car park which was a bonus for us, but plenty of public transport outside.

Very nice hotel. Old style. Our room was a small one, just the double bed which was very comfortable. The shower was good, the TV was very nice and it was very clean. Overall there were no problems and would stay there again. We had a few beers in the lounge and had a good time with some of the people that came in later on. The breakfast in the morning was good, full breakfast and all the juice you could want.

Stayed in the hotel from Friday until Sunday. The location is very good for the beach and town center, about 10 minutes walk away. We stayed in a refurbished room facing the main street and the room was good, although a bit smallish. The bathroom was newly done. Not much noise came through from the street below. Looked like the swimming pool area with sauna and showers have not been renovated. The sauna was not hot enough for us and the changing room/shower area was a bit shabby. Buffet style breakfast was included and had it on both mornings, plenty of choice for normal breakfast.

Had nice time 5 minuets walk to beach,hotel staff was friendly and happy to help, room was not that big but very clean. Would definately go back.

Lovely hotel, didn't spend much time there or use facilities as attending a friends wedding. V small room, once the ironing board was up, there was no room at all! Biggest issue was the phenomenal heat. Windows barely opened and radiator was off. Had the worst night's sleep as a consequence. Nice breakfast.

we arrived at 12.30 and were lucky enough to check in straight away parking could be a problem in the high season. Hotel only 5--10 mins walk down to the pier. the staff were very pleasant and helpful. first 2 floors have been refurbished only complaint about our room was that it was a bit small but have made a note of other room numbers for next next time( we were in 201) Had 1 evening meal the food was ok the second night we went into town mainly because the menu in hotel was the same as previous night.Let us check out late on the monday as the hotel was quiet that day.all in all a good weekend

That is my only criticism . We were allocated a back bedroom, very recently and nicely re-furbished. Sadly what we gained in comfort we lost in size of room, but everything we needed was provided. As in other reviews, the room was on the warm side, safety catches on the sash windows prevent you from getting much air in.Bit of late night noise from the adjoining hotel at the back- singer,karaoke ? All in all though, a very comfortable hotel with pleasant staff and great value for money. A 10 min stroll into the centre either via cliff-top or pleasure gardens.

Nice hotel situated close to the beach on the West Cliff. Room was a bit tired but clean and comfortable. Staff were helpful. Excellent breakfast.

Firstly this hotel is in n a great location- 10 minute walk to the beach/ pier. Welcoming, smiley staff. Great buffet breakfast and then we had the 3 course evening meal at £9.95. (On offer) Bargain! Small amounts of parking in the hotel car park. On the other hand, the temperature of our room was boiling! And the matress was miss-shapen in places. Also requested more toilet roll, as we only had half left for us. But non arrived! Overall, good hotel, would go again and to top it off....the weather was good!

We got a last minute booking at the Durley Dean, what a fantastic choice we made, the hotel was lovely, the room was clean and well equiped, the staff were all friendly and helpful, we had a brilliant stay there, the only bad thing was having to leave, have recommended to everyone i know and will be going back very soon!

I stayed in a twin room with my son, who thought it was well posh, so I really can't praise this hotel high enough. The location was brilliant, close to everything, the reception staff were the most helpful that I have ever experienced (my job involves plenty of business trips so I have plenty to compare ot to). The leisure facilities for the size of hotel were also very good. Finally my room although not the biggest, had nice decor and was very clean. One word of caution would be to ensure you get one of the refurbished rooms as, from a crafty piece of ear wigging it became apparent they are not all done yet. Parking was good too but might get tight for a space in high season. Enjoy

It is close to both the town and the beach but the rooms were tiny I couldn't think in there, the car park is also small. You be luck to find a space. Best thing about the stay was the staff were friendly and did everything they could to make the stay enjoyable.

Good points: nice decor, good shower, comfortable bed, had the swimming pool to ourselves, breakfast in bed, flat screen TV, quiet and near the beach. Bad points: room was small and too warm

Durley Dean is a very nice hotel with all you want really. The service was very very good, all the staff were helpful, room was clean and the location of the hotel means you can walk into town. Only downside is the parking:if you get there very early you will find parking at the hotels car park, if not then you really have to look around!

Very happy with our room and breakfastsWe stayed early January when hotel fairly quite i think in busier times parking may be a problem although there is a nearby council car park.

After reading some of the reviews for this hotel we were quite worried, but there was no need to worry. The greeting we received was warm and when we got to our room we were pleasantly surprised. Very comfy bed, nice bathroom with powerful shower. The second night we dined in the hotel and the food was good and plentiful. Also plenty of choice for breakfast. We will use this hotel again and will not hesitate in recommending this hotel.

At very short notice we stayed here for my hen weekend we were due to go to bruges but because of the fire in the tunnel we could'nt get there. The staff were absolutely fantastic helped us to book up a night out and recommened resturants and the hotel is great to our rooms were all brand new.We would definately stay here again.

Booked at short notice and a good call. The hotel was in the final stages of a refurb, so a few walls without paint etc. We were the first guests in our room. It had been very well updated, with a good selection of furnishings and a very comfortable bed. We didnt use the dinning facilities except for breakfast which was excellent. The staff were polite and very good at their jobs. A lot of larger hotel chains could learn from this hotel.

A cosy hotel close to everything. Nicely refurbished room, fairly large. However, the bathroom was small with a bathtub waisting space. Good br.fast and very friendly staff. For info, I've stayed in a lot of luxury hotels as well.
