Aqua Breeze Inn - Santa Cruz

It was really close to the boardwalk but they didn't give us any shampoo and dirty towels.

If you're under 25 and enjoy the tackiness of the Boardwalk, you might be o.k. I found the area trashy. The manager of this hotel is lovely - very accomodating. My tub stopped up, couldn't get the shower to run and the guests were rowdy - but with the relatively low cost what did I expect?

Great Location close to the Boardwalk. Beds were comfortable. Bathroom remodel was nice but done by somone who did not know how to seal the granite or finish the trim and room properly, lacked hooks and shampoo for convenience. Pretty bare bones. Looked like the owner needs to hire a pool service and a second staff member. We arrived late and were helped with directions to restaurants & attractions. The next day they let us park in their lot nearly another full day while we visited the harbor and boardwalk.

I booked late the same day we were to arrive late. They were helpful. The room was not the most desirable but suited our purposes of a bed to sleep in before moving on the next morning. I think the location, right across from the board walk would appeal to those who planned to spend most of the time on the beach or boardwalk.

did not tell though there is extra charge 40 dollars for the dogs they were rude very bad management the inside of the hotel looks ghetto greedy little indians accused us of getting over on the dogs the upstairs is a hazard zone. do not go here's save yourself the money to get a better hotel

Not bad. Good for the price. Walking distance to the beachboard walk. For two days it was a good done. Staying loger I recoment a better hotel.

The people in the room next door were up all night and had guests in & out at 11, 1am, 3am, 4 am and 615am...there was also a small scuffle outside our door. I dont think the management cares too much about what is going on after you check in. The only real bonus is that we wanted to be at the Boardwalk and it is right there!

VERY CLOSE TO EATERIES AND ALL THE SANTA CRUZ ATTRACTIONS. WALKING TO ALL, NOT HAVING TO PAY FOR PARKING. VERY NICE.

I recently stayed at the Aqua Breeze Inn on my way up the California coastline. The room was cheap, and the location is great, but there were a couple of serious issues: 1. We had specifically requested a non-smoking room, and it absolutely reeked of cigarettes. In fact, because we had a pet with us, we were required to take a non-smoking room. Anyway, they wouldn't do anything about it aside from offering another room on the condition that I pay MORE money to upgrade because the only other available rooms were larger. 2. There were cockroaches in kitchen (mostly in the sink) at night, as well as a cockroach skittering around the oven. With that said, you get what you pay for. Part of the reason we stayed here is that they allow pets, and that can be hard to find. Sure, the location was amazing... only a parking lot separating the hotel from the boardwalk, but there were also some small touches that made the stay better. A renovated bathroom and small landscaping touches made a potentially cheap looking motel have a bit more hospitality to it. The staff was very friendly and the place allows dogs. The neighborhood […] is a strange combo of other cheap-but-cute motels, nice older homes and small ghetto apartments, not seedy, but not affluent. The location, though, is within walking distance from downtown, the beach, the boardwalk and a short drive from beautiful coastal hikes and other small towns. Worth it, by far. If you are renting a room to sleep in look elsewhere. We were up until 2 AM the first night with people smoking and drinking right in front of our door window and air conditioning unit. We complained and the next night we were kept awake until 5 AM.

My wife and I stayed here one night, all we were looking for was an inexpensive play to stay close to the boardwalk and pier. This place is literally right across the street from the boardwalk! The room was clean and the bed was confortable, but bring your own pillows because the ones in the room are like rocks. Not a high-quality hotel by any means (cheap bedding, cheap beds, bad decor, etc), but its in a great location near the boardwalk and beach. I think there were two other cars in the parking lot aside from ours when we stayed in October and somehow the room directly above us was occupied and we could hear EVERYTHING. Best inexpensive hotel around. Not a resort type stay but very__ , clean and comfortable. There was an error with reservation. They corrected it quickly and upgraded at no charge. Only issue was they do not allow bikes in the room an there was no notice of this on web. They made exception as we were touring by bike and did not have option.

We went for one night and ended up staying 2 the hotel staff was very nice n friendly. Great location. Comfort n clean for good price. Room s r very quiet.

I visited the Aqua Breeze Inn this last weekend. While I do appreciate that they accomodate pets, I would never stay here again. Our room was suppossed to be non-smoking, but it smelled very smokey. We had to request hand soap, candles, and an air freshener. Just past 12am we had some random person knocking on our door. I still don't know what all the hub bub was reagarding the increase on room rentals. Everyone was inflated... So I can't blame these people. The room was walking distance...to the Boardwalk and the warf. No extras... we are used to at least having hair dryers and shampoo now days. quite a surprise. I paid for a room with two double beds and a pull out couch. This cost a little extra however when we got there that room although reserved was not available. Too bad I really liked the place but they dont deliver the room you reserve.

OK! Very noisey. Had trouble the first day with toilet overflow. Loved the pool. Bedding was not great. Very close to boardwalk, where we spent most of our time. Might come back, if offered a big discount. Alittle pricey,not alot to offer.

The staff was awesome, the room was clean and the location was perfect! My family and I stayed 8/24-8/26 2011 and had the perfect vacation. Was a standard motel, but cost about 3 times as much as anywhere else we stayed in our four weeks in Calfornia

the hotel is closest to a one star. the people were ok but very old building. The location is worth the stay if planning to visit Boardwalk. Across from BW parking lot, very convienent.

Delighted with owners/management. Have already booked rooms for future stays.

The hotel was clean but had old worn out drapes that wouldn't shut right, had to use a safety pin to keep shut. No hair dryer or coffee in room and lack of parking if you come in late. Location is close to the beach though.

If your looking for a place to stay overnight without all the fancy extras of a 4 or 5 star hotel, then this is the place to stay. The room was cleaned prior to our arrival, the beds were comfortable and the room had a fridge, microwave, TV, and Wi-Fi. Just BYO shampoo, coffee maker and hair dryer. We were attending a function nearby so we had to borrow […] an iron from the front desk since the room didn't have one. The surrounding area outside our room was a bit dirty with food and trash on the ground, which was cleaned up by the next day. The parking lot was limited and cozy. We stayed for 2 nights and had to park at an adjoining parking lot on one of those nights. The price was too much for that type of lodging, but we were paying for being right next to the Boardwalk. Alot of young people smoking marijuana, it is a party hotel. Maybe when I was in my early 20's but not a family hotel

when I booked online, my only hope was to get a place last minute but it could not have worked any better. i had lost my info. sheet with the adress and phone number and my phone had died so I was all panic-y. well walking to the car in the boardwalk parking lot a big ol' sign, "Aqua Breeze Inn." Constanly going back and forth from the boardwalk to […] the hotel. The room was decent, hot water immdeatly and a mini fridge :D. There were very noisy hotel guests until late into the night (1 a.m ). when i called the management to have the issue noticed and taken care of , the manager asked me to take care of it . two more of my roommates called to complain and still the management did nothing. considering the seedy neighborhood, the noise problem and the fact that the price […] was too much $ a night , i would not only not recommend this place , i would warn all against ever staying there . My wife and I showed up a little early (11:30am) and the two people at the front desk took nice care of us and let us pay and park before the 1pm check-in. We walked to the Santa Cruz Boardwalk (5 min) and had a great time. Moved our luggage in around 2pm and head back to the beach for a BBQ. This was a great hotel that treated us like guests in their own house. We left our blow dryer at home and they let us use one they had at the desk, Staff was friendly. Looked like a lot of improvements had been done. Right across the street from the boardwalk, so no Parking fee. All around, a nice visit, we will definately be returning!!!

We booked a single queen room for the night and at check-in the people at the counter asked us if we wanted to upgrade to a king for a nominal fee more. For one night, a queen was plenty.. so we declined. Now, I'm pretty sure they were trying to get us in the other side of the hotel, which was the newer, nicer side that was more of a hotel than a live-in […] motel, like the side we were staying at. Our side was not so pleasant. The room was dirty, the kind of room where you don't put your bags on the ground and check the mattress for bed bugs. Well, I did check, and there weren't any bed bugs to speak of, since the mattress was covered with a fabric cover. Still, kinda unsettling, though. There was "Roach hotels" in the Kitchen and the place needed updating. On the plus side the location is perfect, right across the street from the parking lot near the arcade on the boardwalk. Another upside were the locks on the outside of the closet doors- instant babysitter. Maybe if I were to stay again, I'd stay on the other side. I'd give this place another chance. This is a small, comfortable hotel with free parking a block from the boardwalk and easy walking distance to downtown. The rooms are small, but comfortable and clean. There is a microwave and fridge, so we could do our own breakfast and keep sodas cold. You can hear the screams from the roller coasters and the Friday night concerts, but that only adds […] to the experience. If you're looking for luxury, this isn't it. This hotel is great, if your looking for a cheap hotel, near the boardwalk (accross the street from the boardwalk). The hotel was under construction, with newer bathrooms and paint jobs.The bathrooms had new granite, but the shower curtain was still moldy, mirror was broken, and old TVs. I was very disappointed with hotel. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. If we had not of checked in so late I would have taken my family else where. I was afraid to have my children in the room it was so nasty. The room was old it had roach traps in every corner, the bedding was stained and dirty.
