Very nice renovation of this old hotel. Very clean and nice feel. Nice staff. Unfortunately, no restaurant or bar, to bad. Not much in the way of food or drink within walking distance either. This is our 3rd visit to this hotel and we will be back. It's convenient to Paso Robles and the wineries. The hotel is charming; rooms are spacious and comfortable and the staff is friendly and helpful. Hope they find a good tenant for the restaurant very soon.

Overall the room was nice. Once the toilet was flushed it ran all the time. I called the front desk attendant and she came to the room with a cleaning women and tried to fix the tiolet. It stopped running utill it was flushed again and then ran all night. I was too tired to call the front desk again so I closed the bathroom door and gave up. The hotel is VERY nice, clean and comfortable. We are local to the area and it was perfect for a romantic night away. it was one of the nicest rooms I have ever stayed in. The only complaint I would have would be the $4 they charged for the single bottle of water making it nearly $32 per gal for water.

The hotel was clean and comfortable and the front desk was nice enough, however it was mothers day and as we left we noticed they had a nice brunch going on. We went up to the hostess and she said it would be a 2 hour wait. It would have been nice to have a newsletter in the room about it. I would have thought that they could make exception for 2 guests […] that just spent $206.00 on their hotel. THe guy at the front desk should have spoken to the hostess and got her to make an exception. OUr coffee pot was also broken in the room. When we told the front desk....they did not seem to care. THere seemed to be a disconnect with the employees. THe guy at the bar was not all that engaging.... Not to mention my husbands bear was flat....We didn't even mention since he seemed not to care. The staff should make sure that you are happy so that you come back and if something is not right ...make it right in some way. The Hotel is beautiful and has that Old-Worlds charm + New-World Amenities. Beautiful Lobby and really nice rooms (had a Delux King Room). Room was really comfortable and the bed was quite luxurious. We loved the bar-restaurant in the Hotel (Colby Jack's) which is also a great combo of old-world/new-world charm. And the staff were really nice and helpful […] with everything we needed. Only things lacking were some simple touches: in-room coffee maker didn't work, the Kleenex box only had about three left, and bottled water actually tasted old and bad). If your like old restored historical hotels, then you will likely enjoy this place. Very nicely restored hotel in downtown Atascadero with lots of old style charm. This is a small town so not too much to see in town but it is just south by a few miles of Paso Robles and the newly famous Central Coast wine country. Hotel rates in this part of California […] are surprisingly high and this hotel offers rates that are lower than many for what I consider to be the nicer hotels in the area. I did not eat at the hotel restaurant this time but I have in the past. It is popular with locals. I didn't bring my laptop on this trip so I can't speak to the access or quality of internet service. Impressed with the fine job they did with the refurb of this beautiful hotel. Have stayed at the Carlton before while visiting our student in SLO. First stay, price was identical to Holiday Inn Express and the Carlton is so much lovlier and spacious. Beautiful, historic building, friendly staff and shockingly luxurious rooms (especially the bathrooms) for the price! We enjoyed our one-night say. The hotel accommodations were absolutely first class. Breakfast was included in the deal; not just buffet but a coupons for single entrees at the adjoining restaurant. This place is highly recommended.

Hotel was great. Nicely restored from what must of been a happening place in its time. Probably never had a better staff of people from top to bottom. Staff always acknowledged us by name and struck up great conversation. Bed was sensational, room overlooked courtyard, made for a nice touch. Restaurant was very good. This place is great deal in wine country. Room was wonderful. Whirlpool tub and entire bathroom felt like a much more expensive hotel. Room and everything very clean, bright, spacious, like-new. Desk staff were genuinely friendly concerned people. Note that room service not always a available, as restaurant not always open.

This is a hidden gem! Beautifully refurbished with large well appointed rooms and delightful baths. The baths feature marble with both a steam shower and jacuzzi tub. After a hard day sipping wines, the jacuzzi tub is fabulous!!! We especially enjoyed the second floor patio with fountains, heaters, and bistro tables. It's the perfect spot to unwind […] and sip wine. The staff is amazing-Travis at the front desk is especially helpful with restaurants and driving directions. The manager is extremely attentive and will ensure you enjoy your stay. The restaurant, Colby Javk's had delicious breakfast and an amazing rib eye steak and a fabulous Caesar salad at dinner. We also loved the bakery, especially the Joe Bella's coffee!!! Best value on the central coast. Perfectly positioned between Paso Roble's wine country and San Luis Obispo/Pismo Beach. Just a great hotel and a treat to stay in. We show up and they know our name. The restaurant Colby Jack's is fantastic. The rib eye is on par with famous steak houses. Their Sunday brunch rivals Vegas buffets and the quality is beyond the norm. We've stayed at the Carlton 5 times and will continue to stay with them when we return. Totally nice hotel in a town with not much, but only 10 or so miles from downtown Paso Robles, and even closer to the wineries along 46 West as well as Wild Horse. Completely above expectations at 5 Star as far as I am concerned- Greeted with smiles and a staff ready to give the VERY BEST IN SERVICE! Great hotel front desk staff with the exception of Thurs night. The breakfast included with Thursday night stay in their restaurant is a plus. Great food and service- a plus as you start your day with a smile. The room needs good lighting specially if you are doing alot of work. Same with the bathroom with lack lighting and ventilation!. We enjoyed our stay at this hotel as we broke our trip down to and back from Palm Springs from the Bay Area. The room was of a generous size, and the bath and separate show stall were of a good size too. The only drawback in the bathroom was the single vanity. The major negative for the room was the TV: a CRT (not flatscreen) and the picture was barely […] acceptable. The restaurant provided good food at a very reasonable price (especially the wine list). However, the bar did not have a liquor license - so you are restricted to beer and wine. This was my second stay at the Carlton. As usual the people at the front desk are extremely helpful and friendly. I go there to visit with my husband who's working in Atascadero and we stay at the Carlton as a treat to ourselves. The rooms are absolutely gorgeous and the bed and pillows are heavenly! The room was clean but the furniture looked extremely […] worn as did the carpet, however I think that it just adds to the old Victorian style decor. The only problem we had is that the floor always had a huge puddle after showering due to a leak that we never found. Also, please be aware that even though they provide Fiji water for your Keurig coffee maker, that the water will actually be charged to your bill and it's $4 per bottle! You also get charged for the little courtesy bottles of shampoo, conditioner and lotion. I used them rather than bringing my own to decrease the weight in my suitcase and the mess the bottles make even when I've put them in a ziplock container. We were charged another $8 for the shampoo, conditioner and lotion. They're about 2-3 ounces each. They have wi-fi but it's unsecured and the connection is often weak leading to many screen freezes or lost connections. The restaurant is extremely expensive but the food is good and the service is wonderful. Atascadero is such a small, sleepy town that it makes this hotel seem out of place, but I'm glad the Carlton is there and will definitely go back. Lisätietoja

I was very impressed with this hotel, the front office staff were great. Appreciated the vouchers for breakfast and on Christmas Day because they were closed received a wonderful gift basket with fruit, coffee and muffins to start the day. Loved the bathroom with the jacuzzi tub and incredible shower. Felt as though I was staying in a first class place […] at a lower price than the chain market motels in the area. It is located right next to the university and I was able to go for a morning run around the campus which was very well lit and a nice hill on the back side of the loop.
