College Inn - Seattle

It was alright. It was a great view, great location, and comfortable bed. But the bad things were that there was no wi-fi in the room, the lights didn't all work, and the bed was really itchy. Was also a little cold in the room.

The rooms were pleasantly spare, making them feel much larger than they actually are. There is an internet terminal current newspapers and magazines and nice hardwood tables for doing work on the attic/lobby on the fourth floor. The building is pretty and in a great location for visiting UW. There is an iron in every room, and a sink. Breakfast is terrible, […] and not worth the price (free). The muffins and granola will make you slightly sick for a few hours. The coffee, courtesy of folgers, is likewise terrible. The communal bathrooms remind me of college dorms, but are not unpleasant. The showers get good and hot. Overall the place is cheap, has good character and in a great location, but you go without classic hotel comforts like soaking in a tub. And while hotel breakfasts are rarely good at this price point, just don't even try it here. Lisätietoja

Really enjoyed my stay here, staff was friendly and helpful, convenient market right next to the building, well kept and cozy. Definately cant beat it for the price.

We selected the College Inn in Seattle because we wanted something close to the Neptune Theater (we were in Seattle to see a concert) that was inexpensive. The hotel staff was very friendly and welcoming, the room was comfortable and even had a view of the Space Needle, and the surrounding neighborhood has a great night life with a lot of pubs and restaurants. […] As twenty-somethings on a budget, this was a perfect place for us to stay! My only complaint is that the bathrooms (the hotel is European style) really need some maintenance and a facelift. They were just kind of dingy and the toilets felt like they were about to fall over. This hotel is more like a bed and breakfast than a hotel i.e no amenities. The room has a sink and an alarm clock but no toilet or television. There is a restroom on each floor. Since the bldg is old, there is a fair amount of sound transferance between the walls. It is hard to find parking on the street. good location to the university. friendly staff, only bad part is the lil store has some late opening hours so its hard to get what u need there. Tv's in the room would be nice, otherwise its a good place to stay. could be a lil cheaper, for the price there should be more amenities.

The College Inn is pleasantly close to the University of Washington and has remarkably low rates for that area. The Inn is much more like the hostels I have stayed at in the past, with shared bathrooms on each floor. Each room has a sink and an iron, and the continental breakfast is respectable. I stayed here while in Seattle for a residency interview […] and had a pleasant stay. College Inn was worse than I had originally thought. I chose the hotel because of its convenience to UW Medical Campus and the affordable rate. I knew it had shared/public bathroom but didn't expect other problems. 1) Hotel is CLOSED from 11AM to 3PM. I arrived at 1PM only to find the hotel entrance hidden and its doors locked. The pub owner nearby […] was nice enough to let me hang around, especially with outside freezing temperature, gloomy sky and rain. 2) When the doors were finally opened by the staff, he never offered to help me carry my luggage (not that I would resort to needing his help) or cautioned that the check-in desk was at the TOP floor. Needless to say, there was no elevator and you're on your own with carrying luggage FIVE full flight of stairs. 3) Check-in process was long and tedious. It took 30 minutes. 4) I had the single twin room. As one other reviewers stated, it was a prison cell. 5' x 15' room with a twin bed, sink, ancient writing desk, and a portable oil-filled radiator. It was worse than my college dorm in the suburb of Baltimore. NO TV, closet, paper towels, shampoo....the list goes on. Though, there is wifi and a couple of towels. 5) With windows seemingly from the 1800s, the room was not shielded from the elements and traffic NOISE 24/7. Your sleep will take a hit if you like a quiet environment. I didn't try breakfast because by morning, I just wanted to get to my interview and leave the place ASAP. My recommendation is to stay here ONLY if the UW pays for it and you can accept the above inconvenience. Otherwise, pay a few dollars more for hotels nearby that are also good in location. I regret that I stayed here and followed UW hotel recommendations. Anyway, if you're at UW for an extremely important job interview, pick some place better. Hotel was more than what I expected. Nice college ambiance close to UWA campus - plenty of neat shops and restaurants. Good breakfast, clean rooms. Quiet place to stay before the holidays.

Miss the TV, otherwise clean and comfortable. Students who stayed were polite. Free internet. Although a ways from downtown it was easily accessible by bus.

the checkin is closed 11am to 3 pm so if you get here in those hours you cant park your luggage ( there is no one here to take them and door to hotel is locked. the is only one stall inb mens room on each floor and two showers but one shower was closed for repairs, the carpet is filthy and the sheets and towels are mostly very worn,. the doorsuse keys […] (with room numbers and hotel name on them and there are no night latches on room doors ( i asked the clerk about this and was told they change the front door lock every two months and there is a security camera. This was a great deal for the money. Only issue is office and consequently check-in closed from 11 am - 3 pm. Otherwise, it was an amazing deal with a wonderful breakfast included with fresh fruit, oatmeal, toast, and coffee. Staff very courteous. Room very clean. Bring your own shampoo. No shampoo in the showers.

The College Inn is in a prime location for access to the University of Washing campus and the university district. Its location is within walking distance of all the shops, stores, and restaurants. I thought having a shared bathroom would suck, but it wasn't that bad. Never had to wait for anybody, and there are sinks in each room. Service was good, free breakfast was nice. It was near bars and restaurants and near the UW campus (we went to a Huskies football game).

The College Inn was a great value for pricey Seattle --- older but clean and comfy and very close to UW and restaurants. Reminded me of European hotels with shared bathrooms. We stayed in a room with 2 queens and a sink and good terry bathrobes were provided. Bathrooms with showers are shared on each floor but separate for male/females. I normally don't like staying at a place with shared bathrooms but this was fine. The showers and bathrooms were shared on the same floor but there were plenty and the showers were removed from the bathroom stalls so that there was privacy. There was a sink in our room too. It's a nice place to stay, rooms are comfortable, the front desk was nice, the breakfast amazing. downstairs a good pub and others close. The only issue: no private bathroom and no TV... especially no TV!! I am addicted. Not very close to the underground, far from downtown.

This hotel is clean and surprisingly quiet, given it's clientele are mostly students. My room was comfortable and the staff were friendly. Breakfast was okay too. On the downside --- bathrooms are down the hall -- it might have said that on the website, but I didn't notice --so I was a bit surprised. Also there is no air conditioning that I could see, […] only a fan, and I was afraid to leave the window open all night because I wasn't sure about security. I knew going in that I was not going to be staying at a five star hotel, nonetheless i was pleasantly surprised. Chris, the manager, was very friendly and forthcoming with assistance, be it to call cabs or give directions. The breakfast is a standard continental nreakfast which was perfect. Pros: Friendly service/staff. Ceiling fan is nice. Appears clean Cons: Hotel has no parking lot. You must park in the streets, which will cost you money, but from 6pm to 7am it's free. Restroom, which includes shower and toilet is shared between all guests; so no individual restroom and its not locked. But restroom was clean. What's great: Proximity to U.Wa campus - cafes, shops and school are minutes away by foot. The Inn itself shares a storefront with two eateries and a mini-mart. Check-in was prompt and my guestroom cozy: Handy in-room sink, clean linens, and a thick down comforter. The shared bathroom was well-kept. Not great: A small load/unload zone is at entrance, […] but as with most Seattle businesses, one must constantly hunt and/or feed the parking meter. During my stay, street parking was free between 6PM-8AM. You must carry your luggage up 2-3 flights of stairs. The 7AM breakfast began 30 mins late, served by (probably) one of the Inn's less-genial staff, who also refused to dispense shampoo to a fellow guest. Mr Grumpy then shut himself in the office and ignored our knocks, preventing early check-outs. this was a nice place to stay, even though it is not like anything else we've stayed in in north america. there is no concierge as such, and the front door is always locked so you have to be buzzed in. the hallways always smelled of pizza, but we could never track any down. the internet absolutely did not work in either the room or the common room upstairs, […] i had to go to the coffee shop up the street. the room though was big and bright and comfortable, with very comfy beds...the fact that the toilet and shower were at the absolute opposite end of the hallway was too bad, but okay once we got used to the idea of sprinting through the hallway semi-clad in the middle of the night... i left a camera charger plugged into the wall when we left and that was apparently never to be seen again. too bad, as we were back in town two days later and could have picked it up, but no, apparently at GREAT inconvenience the night manager had "interrupted another guest's visit and it was not there", so i could hardly dispute that... Nice & clean place to stay, breakfast was outstanding as it included bagels & cream cheese, fresh fruit and cereal with yoghurt. Surrounding area had great coffee shops & restaurants. Double rooms were fantastic & very spacious. Thoroughly recommend as a budget option in Seattle.

This is our 3rd visit to this hotel in a couple years. It is quiet, comfortable, and charming. We prefer a more rustic, historic experience, and got just that at College Inn. Bathrooms are down the hall, but the hotel provides big, fluffy bathrobes for that purpose. The breakfast is healthy, fresh and filling. They always have fruit in addition to the […] continental basics, in a warm cozy attic room, where you have a great opportunity to meet other travelers, or enjoy a quiet moment in the corner alone with your coffee. Don't stay here! Trust me!

I had to wait 1 hour for someone to show up to do my check in, apparently, the person was downstairs drinking in the pub. The neighborhood is good and the room is OK for the price. Started the stay on the wrong foot though, as I was very tired and it was 10pm when I got to the hotel.

Excellent location -ideal for what I wanted!! i wanted to walk (no car) and sense the college life again. Also, I could walk and take in shops and cafes close by. Handy for visiting students living in the westside dorms. A reading light in my room would have been nice.

I chose to visit Seattle not to see the city itself, but rather to visit a friend who attends the University of Washington and spend time in the U-District. The College Inn was the absolute perfect location for that. Within just blocks of her dorm and a short walking distance from the university itself, the inn was located right at the end of the Ave, […] which meant there were plenty of opportunities for shopping and eating nearby. Het hotel is echt budget, met wat verouderde staat van onderhoud. Het inbegrepen ontbijt is prima ! De wijk is erg leuk (studententenwijk) en het restaurant wat onder het hotel zit ook ! Banana leafs heet het en het heeft een hele goede aziatische keuken tegen hele zachtje prijsjes. Mit dem Hotel war ich eigentlich ganz zufrieden, bis auf das fehlende WC und Dusche im Zimmer, was dem ganzen eher den Flair eines Hostels gibt. Die Lage ist gut, im Univiertel mit einigen Lokalen und Bubs. Die Anbindung mit Downdown mittels Bus ist auch gut. 学生街であり、ダウンタウンから70番のバスで行けるなど、とても便利でした。 周辺が、学生街ということもあり、安い食堂やSafe wayなどの大型スーパーもあり、長期滞在でも全く困らないと思います。 1階にあるレストランは、お客さんが多かったです。
