Ye Olde England Inne - Stowe

Old hotel, small room, tiny bathroom with shower only, dirty feeling, noisy, neighborhood bar on 1st floor and no complimentary breakfast.

We loved the room. Loved the location. The bed was one of the most comfy I have ever slept in. We showed up after hours and they were nice enough to leave us a a note and our keys, which was great. Staff was accommodatng.. Overall was great except for a few key things Only thing was a few things were not working: 1) Asked to get the heat turned on, […] which was broken, twice, and it never got fixed so we were freezing in the morning. 2) To that effect the hot water was out as well for an evening. Staying in this hotel was a mixed experience. The first night we stayed in one of the suites, which was lovely, comfortable, clean, homely and quiet. The second night we moved to a less expensive room, which was much less inviting and pleasant. The A/C was so noisy that we could not use it while we were in the room. The most appalling part was that […] the room was located right above the pub/bar. And that was noisy , not only until late ate night, but we were woken up at 7 AM by the music coming from the bar! The Internet in that room did not work...and the staff was well aware of that! Other issues: the promise jacuzzi is closed in the summer, the heated outdoor pool has yet to see a heating element! If you're looking for something reasonably priced, in a perfect location, and with charm, Ye Olde England Inne is it! We've been to a lot of overly precious B&B's, but this is not, just super charming and comfortable. The room was on the small side, but plenty of space for 2 of us with a ton of books, laptops, and hiking gear. Really clean, modernized […] bathroom. Lovely grounds. Helpful, nice staff. Perfect location. We walked into town, to the movies, and to a lovely walking path. No elevator, but that wasn't a problem for us at all. We would choose this again over any modern sterile hotel. I really loved staying at this Inn, it was not the fanciest place, but was very quaint and had cool little rooms. This was a 5 star place for what it was. Not a resort and not a chain. But everything was clean and functioned. It was literally like staying at your old aunts house in the country. very comfortable but not the "lap of luxury" which is not […] what i was going for! The room was nice and spacious. The staff were friendly. Jason in the bar was very knowledgeable and friendly. Their beer and scotch selection was fantastic. The only complaint I had was that the wireless didn't work in my room. It was a small discomfort but it was because I was at the end of the hall and the signal strength wasn't strong enough to […] reach me.
