we had a wonderful stay at the Gosby House Inn. Very helpful staff when asking about local restaurants and the atmosphere was quaint and comfortable. Everything seemed clean and in order and it is in a wonderful location. We will definitely stay again.

Loved this B&B. Breakfasts were very good. Location was great, close to everything we wanted to do. We plan to return.

We loved this place. Located close to the Mont. Bay Aquarium and downtown Monterey. The breakfast was really great - not the usual cold food and orange juice. The staff goes out of their way to make sure you are comfortable. We didn't want to leave.

Comfortable room and yummy breakfast.

The Gosby House Inn is a real gem!! We arrived late on a Saturday night and our beds were turned down and ready for a comfortable night sleep. The rooms are large and furnished with nice antiques. Lovely decor gave our room a welcoming feeling. It even had a warm, gas fireplace. In the morning we mingled with other guests and enjoyed a delicious breakfast […] including cereal, coffee cake, eggs and fresh fruit among other things. It was here that we were able to augment our itinerary with highlights that the other travellers had seen in the past few days. The front desk was also very friendly and helpful in this regard. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Gosby House. The history was fascinating. We stayed in the Point Lobos room, and our only complaint was the heater was very slow to work. We stayed in the middle of December so it was quite cold and between the heater and the fireplace, it still took quite awhile for the room to heat up. This is not a hotel. This is a Bed & Breakfast Inn. I can't believe we slept in a queen bed. It was a twin headboard with a double bed, which may fool the eyes into thinking it's a queen. Absolutely no parking slots. Only 2-hour street parking from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. No desk clerk during the night. No ice or soda machine. Extremely tiny TV. The Gosby House worked out terrifically for us. It's a scenic trail-walk away from the Monterey Aquarium, which was one of the main reasons for our visit to the area. The breakfast was fabulous and the bed comfortable. A nice plus is a Happy Hour with complimentary wine and snacks. We also enjoyed two very good restaurants within walking distance of […] the inn. I would recommend this inn to friends and family

While advertised as a queen, the bed was actually a double. The mattress was horrible. When explaining the bed to the front desk person, she was quite sarcastic. Overall the food and the rest of the staff was very pleasing. Location is very good, but when you cannot get a good nights sleep, it takes a lot from the experience.

We were very please with our 2 night stay at Gosby House Inn, we found the staff to be friendly and helpful and particularly liked the idea of breakfast in the lobby which gave an opportunity to meet other guests. Well done also on the afternoon snacks.

If you are looking for some quiet, peaceful time, this is the place to go.

A great location and a charming inn that transports one to a slower paced, earlier time. Accomodating staff, quiet and friendly guests to meet and speak with at breakfast or other times. We have stayed in Pacific Grove a number of times and there are many good options. The Gosby House exceeded our expectations and we will certainly plan to stay here again.

Very pretty place. Breakfast is very good. Snacks in afternoon. Nice restaurants across the street, several within three blocks. Easy access to Monterey and Carmel. Low traffic area, quiet at night. Easy walk to the ocean, pretty walk along the shore.

This was home base for our son's wedding. It was just wonderful, and the breakfasts were to die for. The room was a tad warm for us, but that was due mostly to the unseasonably warm weather in a place that is usually very cool. It was incredibly clean, especially for a place that kept its victorian charm intact. We would go again in a heartbeat.

We visit the Monterey area twice a year for golf getaways and we have tried a lot of hotels in the Carmel-Pacific Grove-Monterey area and by far the Gosby House Inn is the best place we've ever stayed. The room was quiet, very clean, and was well appointed with amenities. The homemade breakfast and evening wine/appetizers were outstanding and a true […] cut above the typical extended continental breakfast served at many hotels and inns. GOOD: Pacific Grove is a beautiful little town convieniently located between Carmel and Monterey. There are some amazing restaurants and natural landmarks within walking distance, and even more options if you're willing to take a short drive. The Gosby Inn is cute enough. The service was welcoming and accessable. We did not partake of any of the food […] services provided by the Gosby House. BAD: The goal when you stay in a hotel is to have somewhere to lay your head at the end of the day. Our room had a TINY bathroom, think european small. Banged my leg, knee, toe and elbow multiple. times. Worse than that, our bed was the single most uncomfortable bed I've ever slept in, I think the floor would have been better. The matress was hard. The blankets were plentiful and stiff. They were so heavily layerd that it was a challenge to push them away successfully. The room was stuffy, so we tried to open the window. The window wouldn't stay open unless we proped it wide open. Monterey is COLD at night. Having the window wide took care of the stuffiness, but now we were freezing. Neither my wife nor I could get comfortable and got almost no sleep all night. BOTTOM LINE: While all the amenities were nice enough, the lack of ability to get a good nights sleep means I wouldn't be willing to go back or recomend this B&B. Lisätietoja

The location was ideal for my visit to monterey/ carmel. Its located very close to 17 mile drive to carmel. Atmosphere was historic and inn was quaint and cozy. Breakfast buffet and evening cocktails definitely enhanced my stay. Definite recommend staying.

My girlfriend and I spent a relaxing weekend in Pacific Grove and the Monterey Bay Aquarium and the Gosby House Inn was just wonderful. The room (Rm 22: Point Lobos) was very cosy with a fireplace, a balcony and a deceptively large tub. Will absolutely be staying there the next time we go down.

This hotel is not romantic or charming. It is old, dingy, and everything in it feels faded and worn. The bed was extremely uncomfortable with very cheap linens. Even though our room (the el Marie dykstra) looked clean on the surface, it felt dirty because everything in it was so worn. The breakfast looked so unappealing to us that we chose to go across […] the street and pay for breakfast at a restaurant. This darling Bed & Breakfast is located in the heart of Pacific Grove - near great variety of eating places from simple brunch cafes to fancy seafood resturants. Walking distance to many Monterey attractions - Cannery Row and Aquarium (~1 mile) and a short drive to "17 mile drive". Accomadations were superb - this B&B offers many personal touches that […] makes this place a home away from home. The decor is very typical Victoria style - floral wallpaper and bedding. Our room came with a queen bed and a small sitting area near a cozy gas fireplace. The bathroom seemed to be recently updated with a jet-tub. The room was very clean and bed was pretty comfy. Gosby House has a wonderful staff that seems to take a lot of pride in making your stay a memorable one. As soon as we arrived, we were given a tour of the property and our room. There was a mix up in our room reservation and they were very upfront (before we arrived) in making amends in insuring that we were not at any disadvantage from not getting the original room we wanted. We were given a room of equal value plus a bottle of champagne and a gift. Breakfast was simple but pretty good. Other serivces offered by the B&B - turn-down service and afternoon tea/snacks. The only minor negative thing to report was the Wi-Fi wasn't very strong and the TV in our room was really small (12 in monitor). Which to some folks maybe a good thing to be away from modern devices. I had planned this trip as a birthday gift for my mother and it turned out to be the highlight of our trip. We like the experience staying in your hotel.

We had a wonderful stay in the Inn over the weekend. The service throughout the whole stay was superb, the location was perfect, and the room was beautiful. Couldn't have asked for anything more. The Inn surpassed all expectations.

This is an old B&B and every room has its own special "charm". Ours had a private shower but it was down the hall. The (private) toilet was in another location down the hall. Neither toilet nor shower had a sink, which was in the bedroom. If we had known this, we would probably not have reserved this particular room. From other guests, we heard of […] other peculiar details in other rooms. However, the rooms are clean, service is friendly and professional, and the social interaction with other guests at breakfast and afternoon tea make this a worthy option. While the length of my stay was unforeseeably shortened, I was quite impressed with the friendly, courteous staff and the quiet comfortable room. Even when I was in the hospital nd my friends had to check me out there was no resistance.

Spent a thursday and friday night at the Gosby House for an event in Monterey. Check-in was smooth, and we were personally escorted to our room. It was raining so the clerk recommended we put a towel down inside the door to wipe our feet. I found this a touch out of the ordinary as they knew it was raining, so they could have put a door mat, rug or […] even just a towel before we arrived. Also, this towel was not replaced the next day when the cleaners came through- also weird. But our escort showed us how to operate the fireplace and pointed out the two different heaters available. Our room, #16, was nice, opening to the side street directly (vice inside the house) though still behind a stone wall from the sidewalk. Bed felt a touch smaller than our queen at home, perhaps it was a double? The room was clean, sheets were soft. Bathroom was nice and clean. The fan in the bathroom was very loud, to the point you couldn't hear anything if you are in the bathroom and it is on. Also, the light was a bit dim, so your shower is rather dark. However, the spacious tiled shower and wonderful water pressure made up for it. Breakfast was not "sit down" like we've had at other B and B's; more continental grab n go. I liked this as we were on our own program (we missed breakfast once at a B and B and the owner was so insulted she refused to make anything else for us!) and could come and go as we pleased. However, our first morning there was no hot food at 8 when it started. We stayed for over 30 minutes and no hot food ever arrived, so we stuck with muffins and fruit, quite disappointed. The second say there were scrambled eggs, cheese blintzes and other cooked items that were delicious. Anyway, the continental choices were all fresh and tasty so no complaints there. They have coffee and tea 24/7. We had wi fi in our room, but the computer in the lobby for guests was out of service. Parking was on the street. Most spots are 2 hr limit between 9 and 6pm weekdays. The Gosby house is not in the same class with the other Four Sisters Inns which we have stayed at, and it is certainly not worth the price. The exterior is quaint Victorian and very nice, The interior is just an old, worn down house. You would find a better bathroom in a Motel Six, and a comparable breakfast at a Holiday Inn Express. The neighborhood in Pacific Grove is so fun! We enjoyed the quality wine and snack times and breakfast was delicious. We ended up meeting quite a few other guests, who were so friendly! My only caution is the reason why this is the bargain in the Four Sisters family is that the less expensive rooms are quite small. Ours did not have anyplace to sit […] but the bed (and no TV, but that's kinda nice...) Other rooms are more spacious, and either way all the amenities of the Inn are yours, and the beauty of the shore 5 walking blocks away remain. Just be aware if you book the lowest cost, you're going to get the "Little Sister"! But I'd stay there again in an instant! I just figured the chairs and couches downstairs were my sitting room, in front of the fire, and totally enjoyed it. My wife and I stayed here for our honeymoon. The room was nice. The staff was friendly. We were satisfied. There are some nice restaurants in the area too. We'd stay here again.

The B&B is away from the hussle of Monterey but close enough to enjoy the sites only minutes away. The ocean is a pleasant 3 block walk. Room was small and breakfast was disappointing - buffet style, not much variety. We would stay there again because of the location.

Gosby Inn is conveniently located close to restaurants, shops, and is in walking distance from the beach. Service is excellent - we arrived late but they made sure we had everything we needed. Additionally, they let us rent bikes to ride on the bike path which runs along the beach, through Cannery Row, and to Monterey.

This is the first time I have stayed at a B&B, i did so for my wife. What a great experience, the room was very comfortable and made me feel at home. There was a cozy fireplace in the room that we made use of during our stay. Also, the Breakfast there was very well done, and not just a muffin and coffee. Additionally, they had appetizers and wine in […] the afternoon, as well as brandy and cookies later. Everything was homemade and delicious. The staff was very helpful, especially Krista who went the extra mile to make sure we felt welcomed and provided us information for local restaurants and places to see. She was very accomodating and helpful during our entire stay. The location is outstanding, right in the middle of the main drag for quaint Pacific Grove, and a short distance from the Monterey attractions as well as Carmel. I travel quite a bit, every week in fact and have stayed at many hotels this year, but I normally do not respond to these survey requests. Great location too, however, Rooms are quite small and some rooms do not have a TV which is my only real complaint. Nicest and most accomodating staff I have ever experienced. Parking was challenging at times since the parking is first come best served...

Wondeful room and great location across from several good resturants and within an easy 5 minute walk to the beach. Very friendly staff. We would highly recommend this Inn.
