If you want to have fun,this is the resort for you.costumer service needs improvement specially on arrival. Not friendly and will not explain to you the set up of the hotel.they will just give you a map and you are on your own to discover. When we arrived our room wasn't ready for 4 hours after the time we were suppose to be able to check in. Instead of telling us it would be a few hours, they had us wait in the lobby. Had we known it would be a long wait, we could have slipped into our suits and hit the beach. When we finally got our room, it was very disappointing. The TV was old and […] didn't work consistently, the floor was soaking wet, the linens were cheap and uncomfortable, there were no wash cloths, they safe didn't work, and the toilet paper roll that was almost gone was left from the previous guests. This resort is huge and thus wasn't very relaxing, because you had to walk a lot or rely on trolleys to take you from one place to another. The bartenders were always happy and helpful, however, the rest of the hotel staff was not. If you are American and don't speak another language, you will have difficulty communicating at this resort. The accommodations were quite nice; many large, clean pools; rooms cleaned and replenished daily; and a snack bar open 24hrs a day. The thing that brought my enjoyment down was the food. The room was real hot at night. We received no direction when we got there. It didn't seem like anyone could answer our questions. When we first got there, our room key didn't work. Then our safe key didn't work. We basically just showed up and they expected us to know where we were supposed to go and what to do. Our experience was very good, the service excellent. People very friendly and helpful. My only concern was the lineup required for making reservations at the local restaurants, which were seemed empty once we had attended. Overal a very beautiful hotel, lovely greenery and landscaper; very peaceful.

The restaurant reservation system is extremely deficient and does not work for families or big groups. The staff tried to work with us however the system is really bad and does not allow you to make reservations for the same day.

Nice hotel. Food at Buffet was just ok (3). Food at Specialty restaurants was great (4-5). Language is an issue at times, but all staff were very nice. Free internet in lobby was just ok - at times difficult to login. All inclusive bar (liquor) was very below average (2). Drinks were not very tasty. Staff at bar was good (4).

Clean hotel and room. if you need wifi it's only in lobby and really is slow and sometimes doesn't work. Some staff are good and some are bad. Upgrade so you'll be treated better. Food quality not that great but edible. Great beach.

We had the perfect excuse to visit Republican Dominican because my cousin chose Punta Cana and this Hotel to get married so we were a big group (40) from Peru and the Usa. Just I noticed they are smiling and kind even they dont get tips. I heard also the first floor is not good because insects , a member of my family had to change room because of it. The rest were in upper levels was ok. I recommend try to book your dinner at the restaurants in advance of your trip otherwise you can miss them. By the way I loved the French restaurant , the quaily of service different of the others.The Buffet restaurant was fine too varied comparing with other Hotel around the area i was told from guys during the tour The beach and pool get very busy so you need to get there early to find some good place, well maybe because we were several it was hard to find many chairs together for us. We had pleasant 4 night stay. Our room was large and very clean. Food was average, dining room and bar staff friendly, but service was slow. We did not like that food was available in a single dining hall assigned to our resort area and at one snack bar at the beach for lunch. No food was available after 10-30, not even a snack. The resort is very large, and we had to take a tram to the beach or walk about 10 minutes. The tram schedule is frequent and pretty reliable. Even though we requested a non-smoking room, all rooms have ash trays on the balconies so there really is no non-smoking. Smoke filters into your room from the vents that are attaced to the other rooms. We could not put the air conditioning on because the room would smell of smoke, even into the pillows. Very dim lighting in the room. They would only […] give you 2 towels, no face cloths even after requesting more. The bed was very hard and only had one sheet. Beach was beautiful, pools were nice, grounds were well kept, but the overall experience of the room even though you spend little time in there was enough that I would not go back. Also, the fan did not work in the room so everything stayed damp. On our first day tried making reservations at the restaurants and there were limited spots and times, one we could only get at 9:00 on our last night. It was beautiful there and everyone was very nice but the food was really awful. The following statement is my opinion. We had a great time except for checkin and frequent sales pitch attempts to attend a presentation. The buffets were good and better than the restaurants. The beach was relaxing, and the room was located near the beach. The hotel had a weak gym setup, especially compared to one of the other hotels on the "campus". […] The food and beverage staff throughout the hotel were friendly. Here's a tip... either bring a hardcopy of your trip reservation details (to hand them) or be prepared to use international data roaming on your cellphone (to email them) or you may wait HOURS. The front desk staff DECLINED to check us into a room until we provided them with a hardcopy printout or email of our reservation. They hotel does NOT issue confirmation numbers so you can't just give them that number. Hmmm.... why? I believe (the staff did not say this) the front desk staff NEED it to document how much you paid for your ENTIRE trip (flight, hotel, etc) so the sales presentation staff can customize timeshare pitches afterwards. Consider saying "no" over and over to the staff with "Privilege" logos on their t-shirts if they regularly, assertively and ANNOYINGLY invited you to participate in the presentation. Lisätietoja

great hotel , food and wonderful beach. location near airport . enjoyed gourmet, italian and mediterrian a la cartes. everyone was nice. buffet was also good. We really enjoyed the sports bar more than the theater shows, they were just ok. Sports bar and karaoke were alot of fun.

September, 2012... The Hotel infrastructure is excellent. You can always see an employee painting, sweeping, gardening, etc. The pools are excellent!!! Crystal clear waters and two snack bars always accessible for us hungry people. Bell hops and general customer service is admirable. The Specialty Restaurants, which you will have to reserve in advance, […] are great. We were able to go to two of them all since the hotel gives you a limit based on the days of your reservation: Mikado (the Japanese) and The Garden Grill (my favorite). The only con's that I can say is the buffet logistics... it is not open at all times and I you are one of those who wakes up late, you may not be able to have breakfast at all. This hotel has really pretty grounds and is located right on the beach so those are the positives. Unfortunately the organization is really lacking. It took 2 hours for us to get checked in and to our rooms. They originally only had 2 rooms instead of three. Then they tried to put 6 non-related people in 3 kings and were not going to fix it until I […] said that was unacceptable. Then they couldn't even get in us in same building. Our group was on completely different sides of the complex. We then waited 45 minutes for a trolley to take us to our room. After complaining we were told we would be first priority for the next trolley, but we then watched three more trolley's fill up and leave before complaining again to finally get on. After arriving at one of the rooms, it smelled like pee and continued to smell like pee the entire trip. As for the staff it was pretty hit or miss. I had a great time at Gran Bahia Principe. The 1st thing that you notice about the resort is how beautiful and clean it was. The staff work all day and night to keep the grounds looking the way it should. The 2nd thing I noticed was how nice and helpful the staff members were. If I had a question or needed something I knew I could always count on the […] staff. The 3rd thing I noticed was the size of the hotel. Remember, there are around 4-5 resorts that make up the whole Gran Bahia hotel and they're located all on the same property. There are trolleys that will bring you around and signs to help guide your way to the right direction. The buffets and restaurants are great; There was always a wide selection of food to eat. Drinks of course were endless (unless you wanted top shelf alcohol). The pools were enjoyable especially with the swim up bars. The best part of course was the beach! Blue waters, white sands what more can you ask for? The resort I stayed at was Ambar which was right next to the beach. The room was very clean, jacuzzi in the bathroom, flat screen TV, complimentary mini bar, all of the works. I learned that while being there, there are perks to staying at certain resorts. If you stay at the Ambar resort which is the one I stayed at, you have access to dine and drink at all of the other resorts. But guests at the other resorts may not have that privilege. Ambar is the best resort there, follow by Esmeralda, then Bavaro, and Punta Cana. I would definetely return! Lisätietoja

The hotel was beautiful and very clean. The staff was not helpful and everything was over priced. During our stay a couple was having a wedding and someone broke into their room and stole their wedding rings and money.
