This is as British as it can get. A Victorian low-rise red brick building with a Carvery restaurant serving Sunday roast... The restaurant is apparently very popular with the locals. So, traditional and old style, but also friendly, and cosy. You'll have to walk a bit to get to Canterbury city centre however, unless you are by car.

The only problem i had with this hotel was finding it using the map sent via email. However, once we got there we found it to be a lovely place to stay with first class facilities, friendly efficient staff, a lovely room, super swimming pool etc and great food in the restaurant both dinner and breakfast. altogether terrific value for money and knocks […] spots off more expensive rivals. Long delay checking in as only one person on reception at peak time. Stayed two nights and morning call late on the first morning and didn't get one at all on the second morning! Rooms a good size, clean and comfortable. Eat in the bar both evenings and found the food overpriced and pretty average. Hotel is located just off the motorway but in such a manner that noise is not an issue. Ideal break point if working in the Kent area as it is just over an hour from Gatwick and Heathrow airports. Busy hotel with both guests and locals who utilise the hotel gym/pool. I have stayed here on a number of occasions and will always recommened and return here […] as I have never had any issues with the hotel - good food and it also has a Starbucks just off reception. "Spend a bit more, go somewhere better!"
The room was ok, but the bed was not made up properly and I don't even think the base sheet was fresh - there was a hair and dust on it! The receptionist's response was 'oh'. I said I wanted to change room, she said there weren't any. I waited an hour for someone to come and change the bedding. I gave up after an hour to go to dinner. Breakfast was […] abismal. No decaf, no skimmed milk and even the tomatoes and mushrooms tasted like the have been cooked in cheap margarine. Looks like they do everything on the cheap. Located close to Maidstone city center, this hotel offers good value for money. Clean spacious rooms offering all the amenities. complimenatary use of swimming pool and spa. Wonderful buffet breakfast.

The review of the hotel is nothing like what you get..its very basic, think Travel lodge.. We stayed on a Saturday night and the on-site grill had ran out of food by 9pm, so no table.. The hotel is remote and not in walking distanceof other eateries without taking a long taxi ride..room service was only available untill 10pm but that didn't matter as […] they had run out food except for sarnies, cheese or beef!! We booked this hotel for a one night stay at quite short notice when visiting my daughter who has just moved to the area to go to Uni. The price was very reasonable. An added bonus was that the price included full English breakfast. Many other hotels added this as an extra bumping up the price. The room was big and very clean. Stayed for one night with friends, rooms on different floors but not a problem. Clean, fair sized room with comfortable bed. Lovely pool, super breakfast and great location. Will return to this hotel and recomend to others. Friendly staff at reception, return visit planned soon.
Very nice comfortable hotel. Good food, friendly staff and excellent facilities. Good to explore local area such as Canterbury or the Coast and a convenient stopover for a channel crossing.

Hotel room was clean and comfortable and not at all noisey. The bar service was good and the food we ordered was delivered to our table very quickly, The only comment i would make is that the furniture in the foyer area was looking rather tatty and could do with being replaced.

I would highly recommend this hotel. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The rooms were large and the leisure centre was an added bonus. I was traveling on my own and was very happy to stay at this hotel. Very close to Maidstone centre.

Just stayed with my family including 2 boys, 7 and 10 yrs. Suited us perfectly. Clean room, comfortable and large double bed, excellent pool and gym, great breakfast. Only suggestion would be that a small sofabed for 2 fidgety boys is not the best sleeping solution. My eldest chose the floor! Would be better to have either a larger sofabed or to squeeze […] in a z-bed or even blow up mattress. Overall though value for the price we paid. They also need to buy a few more pillows -- they could provide us with 1 extra because they were "running short" according to reception! Lisätietoja

"Rooms below the standard of newer budget hotels"
I paid a premium for this hotel over the cheaper Travellodge type hotels, as we wanted a comfortable 2 night stay. However, the rooms are now looking dated and there is no aircon. It was not particularly warm outside when we stayed, but it was too hot in the rooms and the windows needed to be open all the time. This could be a problem if the room faces […] the road / car park, luckily ours did not. A fan was in the room when we got there, but this was to noisy to have on all night. The staff were nice and helpful and the room was clean and tidy. The on-site food was good / typical for such a hotel restaurant. Breakfast was also decent. The pool is a good size and was not busy when we used it. Location was excellent for our stay. Overall it was not a bad stay, it's just the quality / comfort of the room that let it down, which is usually the main thing you care about in a hotel. If you can do without extras such as the pool / gym, i think a newly fitted budget hotel would be more comfortable. Lisätietoja

We went to this hotel to celebrate my mum and dads 60th anniversary we have family who have a weekend getaway caravan at leysdown nearby so we all got together for this special occasion. We have two small Dandie Dinmont Terriers who love hotelling and we were finding it extremely difficult to find a dog friendly hotel. The Village were so helpful we […] were allowed to have the dogs in our room and also alowed to sit in the small foyer near reception so we could have a drink. This hotel is massive and really busy this weekend with a health boot camp for help the heros. Wedding receptions and a show in a big theatre they have what a brilliant place right next to the river Kent Life next door a Beefeater one side and accross the road is a harvester, just off of the motorway very convenient We ate in the Verve Grill at the hotel. As this was a specail occasion we tried to pre book a Lobster Thermador as a special which turned out to be too expensive to go ahead with so just decided to book the table anyway hte grill has an extensive menue. Ten mins later Ellen from Customer services of the Verve rang back saying that the chef would be only to pleased to put on a Special Thermador Sauce to go over the fish of the day for us as this was a special request from my dad We had a wonderful meal at the Verve Grill we have recomended to the cheff that he keeps the Thermador Sauce on the menue it was to die for Our whole experiance fo the Village hotel has been great We have taken the details of all The village Hotels and if they all have a dog policy we will look forward to using them on a regular basis Thank you The Village Maidstone for making our stay for my parents Diamond Anniversary a special one Kind Regards C Hocking Lisätietoja
Check in was good and conditions of room good. Communication not good having requested something for the room i.e. fruit flavoured tea it took four attempts to get it and 4 hours! Was told that they had run out then finally they hadnt. Food excellent but waiting time far too long had to complain. However they were responsive and gave us a discount. Stayed here several times. Easy access from the M20. Good leisure facilities. Nice restaurant which does a good early menu offer. Didn't use the pub this time but looked ok. Nice breakfast. Room has everything you need and a good shower. All in all good value if you get a good price as we did. very clean and comfortable room that was geared towards making the stay as easy and relaxed as possible. The bed was so very comfortable - a sealey. The staff were very helpful. We ate in the restaurant and had breakfast and found it real value for money. We used the gym and pool were impressed by both. The gym was full of new equipment that was easy […] to use, which is a bonus because sometimes we don't use gyms as the equipment is either old or difficult to use. Very good hotel with friendly staff, clean spacious rooms, in a great location just off the M20 motorway. The bar in the hotel was great value for money for both drink and food. The hotel also has a Starbucks for the coffee addicts. The leisure center was very modern and the pool was top notch. Only min point was that the room was really warm and we […] were there in November! We had to turn off all the heating and use a fan to keep the room a bit cool. this hotel is great for staying overninght if you are working or as a overnight on your way to somewhere else in the south east as its friendly has lots going on and has good facilities however it does not have anywhere to walk to for a stroll etc as it is just off the M20. Although the hotel was modern, clean and comfortable I had an issue with the free wifi service offered. This was the main reason I chose this hotel as I had work to do in the evening. When I put my laptop on in my room I connected to the wifi with no problem but it was slower than dial-up modem pace, taking three to four minutes to open basic sites […] and search engines. I had used my computer in several wifi zones over the previous 24 hours without a problem and I encountered the same slow speeds on my iphone in my room, so it must have been the hotel's wifi. When I called reception I was told that there was no problem and that if it was slow in my room I should come and work in reception and that it may be because parts of the hotel were "in a dip". I could not work in reception as I had several files to spread out and there was loud music playing . At no time was I offered an apology, or for anyone to come and check with another computer, or any kind of compensation (free drink at the bar for example). I'm pretty easy-going if there is a problem and I don't like to make a fuss, but the main reason I chose this hotel was for a service I could not use and the staff simply didn't care. My wife and I stayed at this hotel for 1 night in July. The room was spacious, bed extremely comfy, everything including the bathroom was clean and tidy and although we didn't really watch it the television was absolutely massive. Haven't got anything negative to say about it.
