Beautiful resort. Enjoyed everything about our stay. The food was wonderful. Loved eating at the other restaurants and the pizza was amazing. Not many americans so for us English speaking guests making friends around the resort wasn't easy. But relaxing and wonderful beach.

It was great, with exception the pool, pools are closed at 6 pm which is not good because everydoby wants to enjoy of the pool a little bit more,,,, pools has to be closed at 8 pm, food is good but I noticed there are more preference for the Italians than others, so hotel have to prepare food for all kind of tourist.

What an amazing place! A friend of mine had been there twice and said he'd go back in a heartbeat, and so would we. I can't believe some of the negative reviews about food, accomodations, staff, etc. I mean, what do people want? The breakfast buffet always had different selections as well as the stand-bys like cereal, muffins, pancakes, fruit, juices, […] and an omlette station. Lunch was good with some stand bys like cold cuts but also other dishes like pork, beef. Our first night we had dinner at the buffet which was just fine. Restaurants were amazing and food there was awesome! Americans eat early so we had no trouble making our reservations as soon as we got there. We ate right at the water's edge twice (beautiful# and had a wonderful meal in the Italian restaurant. Any drink you wanted, they had. Beer is on tap practically 24-7. I recommend tipping a $1 or $2 once in a while and the bartenders get to know you and treat you with top shelf stuff and keep your glass full. Room was great, with a balcony overlooking a courtyard with flamingos and peacocks. Big, clean, comfortable with a nice bathroom. Don't drink the water, but bottled water was in the room everyday. Fabulous beach, plenty of room #almost 1/2 mile of coastline!), clear blue water. Four pools, maybe more. Spanish is the language,but you can easily get by since most speak a little English. The hotel is lovely. The food is outstanding; the rooms are suitable, just that room service doesn't clean, they just change the towles and make the bed. The front office staff we had throughout our whole stay was seriously disappointing; rude, lame, and not customer freindly.

The beachfront location of this hotel is beautiful but the rooms were dark and depressing. On one door, even appropriate locks were missing. We spent all the time outside so it was not so bad, but one of the other hotels on/near this stretch of beach - even just the other (and cheaper) paired hotel, Wyndham Beach, would be my choice. the painting was chiping in the balcony and bathroom area, the tv reception was very poor, customer service needs to informe the guest about activity when check in, but over all it was very nice.

Absolutely loved our stay at Wyndham Palace!!! The staff is so courteous and friendly. Food was delicious even for vegetarians. Very kid friendly.. will definitely go there again next year.

I check in and was given a room that smelled badly kind of that nasty moldy smell. I went back to the front desk and was given another poor room. I went to the front desk again this time I was angry. I was supposed to have a superior room LOL. To their credit they upgraded me to a junior suite that was nice.Overall the pool and beach and the resturants […] were very good. The rooms need TLC. First off if you are to compare The Viva Beach vs The Viva Palace which you would assume The Palace should be the nicer of the 2 resorts, but to our surprise it is not at all. The only upside to the Palace is that the Lobby is on the second floor and therefore if there is a HURRICANE you will still be able to access it however the tile hallways will […] not be dried for your safety they will be left to their own devices. And as we found out they are very slippery. I fell in the hallway cutting my knee open and smashing my elbow on the tile but luckily I managed to hold on to my 18mth old son who was in my arms at the time. And due to the occasional rain during our stay we decided to take our son in the stroller everywhere to keep him safe because to Viva was not diligent about maintaining safe hallways to walk in. Also I do not recommend either of these resorts if you do not speak either Spanish or Italian because they do not cater to any other languages and the only staff that do speak any English what so ever were at the front desk and then between the 2 resorts there where only 5 entertainment staff who spoke English and we met our first one on our 10th day at the resort who then informed us that they have 1 night a week where they translate in English the rest of the time if English is your only language you will not be able to participate in any other activities and entertainment. If you are looking for amenities and you can speak either Spanish or Italian then would recommend the Beach but if it's Hurricane season you better confirm that your on the second floor because anyone that was staying on ground level was flooded out in the middle of the night and had to sleep in the open concept hallways during a hurricane. And to top it all off the food and amount was sad to say the least and very minimal selections as well as the hours that the buffets are open is very inconvenient evening dining opens for 7pm and closes for 10pm. It's a shame that, unlike our European counterparts, Viva Windham does not promote language study, cultural discussions as well such as anthropology, history of the region, the ecological system of the islands... and so many other things that should be of great interest to many! The way the main island developed should be of great interest... especially since we see that the region is so varied with Haiti having a totally different history and misfortune as well! I would say that many of the things I am suggesting would not cost a lot and can be tapped from other sources and just neatly packaged to give the whole place a much better feel and contribution to the enjoyment of the vacation! The hotel was very basic, beds were not too comfortable, but the food was very good. The waiters, bar tenders, and cleaning staff were fabulous. Guest services was very, very poor and not helpful at all. We needed to make a 1-800 call to our bank and no where in the hotel would allow us to make the call. The AC went out for 2 days, it was very hot, […] and guest services said someone was working on it whereas no one had even come by our room to look at it. The management was not very helpful, seemed powerless about being able to make decisions about helping customers. It was a a solid 3 on a scale of 1 to 5. When traveling to Santo Domingo travelers should really spruce up on their Italian or Spanish. It was extremely challenging to communicate because we were not fluent in Spanish. Do not trust the safe in your room... we found it open one day and items of value had been taken out. Also, no English at the resort...including the tourists. While I don't mind meeting people from other countries it was impossible to communicate with anyone including the staff. Teenagers are bored...certainly not a spot for them.

One of the most beautiful (and large) beaches in the Caribbean- great ocean swimming in shallow water. A fantastic spot to just hang out and do nothing. Rooms are very nice if you ask for oceanfront. Food is so-so. The all-you-can-eat buffets get to be boring but two are open-air, located right on the ocean and a beautiful location. This is a very European-feeling […] resort; the vast majority of guests are Italian and there are big pasta stations during lunch. There are also many French but almost no English-speaking guests. You must know some Spanish to get by here (bring a small English-Spanish dictionary with you)- the people who work here are all very nice and friendly. If you fly into Santo Domingo you will need to arrange transportation to the hotel (one and a half hours away) through a company called Tropical Tours- you can book them on the internet (the one way trip for 5 of us was $175.) This resort is magnificent but there are many cons to it as well. The resort was way too far from the Santo Domingo Airport and the shuttle from the resort charged us about $200 usd one-way. I also didn't understand why we only got one key to each room and when I asked for another one, the guy at the desk said he would give me another key tomorrow. […] I was just thinking to myself, why not today? I love Italians but there were WAY too many Italians at this resort and they were all really obnoxious. There aren't many or any Americans at this resort. I also disliked how vast the resort was and how difficult it was to find our rooms, but the staff were excellent in helping me find my way. It's strange how the palace resort is more expensive than the beach resort but the beach resort is much nicer. The beach resort is also a lot more livelier than the palace resort. The Palace resort is nice for older people or people who want a good night of sleep. The beach resort had great dance parties on the weekends with amazing people and music. Luckily I could speak Spanish but many of the staff members here do not speak English, especially the ones that work at the restaurants/buffets, so non-Spanish speakers, you guys should better review your Spanish prior to your trip. An Italian flavor to the hotel, 70% clients are from Italy and the rest are a mixture of various other european, North and south American clients. The resort is 2 resorts in one large long spread out grounds, takes 20 almost minutes to walk from one end to the other. Fun to explore and partake in the activities. The resort tends to cater more to Europeans, who are not very friendly to Americans. Some of them tend to be very rude. Resort is very limited on entertainment. Dinner was good in all restaurants, except for the service in the Mexican restaurant.. Service was lousy there. Also, the choices in the a la carte restaurants were very limited.

I just arrived from my 7 day, 6 night stay at this resort earlier this morning. I have to say that the employees are very friendly and helpful! Also, the rooms are nice in the Palace, better than the Beach, there was a plasma with lots of english channels, and channels in italian and french etc. Our maid was very friendly and nice, every day she would […] make a different type of animal out of the towels (swans mostly) also, she would put flowers in it and make them unique. It was very lovely of her. Also, the food is GREAT! especially the cheese and pizza, and menu options at the restuarants. You will never go hungry at this hotel because there is something open at every hour! the pizzeria is open from 7 pm until 7 am and breakfast is from 7 am until 11 and snack bar opens from 10 am until 1 am and lunch is from 12:30 until 3 pm and dinner is from 7 until 10. Also, there are lots of activities. I went windsurfing and it was included in the resort so it was free. It was great and i would recommend it for everyone however, its cheaper to buy souvenirs right outside the hotel in the gift shop called Jomary. the lady there was very nice too. Also, there are lots of italians, so it means lots of smoking and guys in speedos so if you find that uncomfortable then dont go during August, since thats when Europeans have vacation. Also, no one seems to have shame or care much about body imperfections, so you can still wear a bikini even with stretch marks, cellulite etc. Lisätietoja

Agréable surprise. Nous avons découvert un hotel vraiment bien avec un personnel très souriant. C'est sur que la propina y est pour quelque chose mais ce fut un réel plaisir. Le mini club pour enfant est très bien. les restaurants sont excellents et l'ambiance y est très bonne. Nous n'avons pas regretté d'avoir choisi le Palace parce qu'au Beach c'est […] plutot pour faire la fête. Au niveau du Palace c'est plus classe et moins bruyant. Nous avons eu la chambre 5504 qui est très bien (chambre sup vue jardin) qui donne sur la piscine, la plage, non loin de la réception et du restaurant jap le Bambu. Les chambres vraiment très modestes sont vite oubliées en regard du cadre exceptionnel, d'une excellente cuisine et d'un accueil chaleureux du personnel ldominicain. Bon servce d'animation en journée. A conseiller vivement vu son rapport qualité/prix.
