Our room was unclean, needed to wash our hands after using the phone (dirty), stains and dirt in the bathtub. Room had a strong smoking odour. My wife, daughter and I could not sleep due to the noises of the hot water pipes and the loud air conditioner from the empty room next door. I called around 1:30am or so to have it shut off. This place is a bit of a dive, as others have mentioned. It's old and it's attached to the bus station, so we're not talking 5-star hotel here. The carpets look like they've never been cleaned, everything's old and worn out, etc... That said, the room had a certain character, the price is right, the staff was friendly, and I just wanted a cheap hotel […] to sleep in and give my cats a rest, so this place was fine for me. The staff and service were fine, but the hotel is old and it shows. The rooms have questionable security as the door locks do not work effectively. There was no thermostat controls in the room so I was freezing all night. The complimentary breakfast was meagre and was presented in a back room with a broken TV.

There was Mcdonald's garbage in the room, tub was dirty. The free breakfast was horrible, bread was dry, no milk for cereal, no sugar for coffee. We don't complain much, I have worked in hotels most of my life that are lower end so our dislike of this hotel has nothing to do with its class. well when we first go there we stood at the reception counter for about 5 minutes before anyone came,someone on the phone was complaining about the internet service, we got our key and went to our room,which was around the other side of the building, which is not a problem if our key would have opened the door to our stairwell by our room,so we walked […] to another door which you didn't need a key because the electronic card reader was broken and the door lock was open, when we walked through the door all we could smell was cat or door urine,when we got back to our room the next night the cleaning lady was in the hallway doing her rounds and had not been to our room yet,this was at 7:30 at night, we went to have a coffee and there was only 3 packages of coffee for the machine and there where 4 of us in the room, also there was no microwave in the room. Hotel had a strong odor of cigarettes; likely not current but seeped into the walls from years of smoke. Room had garbage on the floor, only 1 towel in the bathroom (they knew we had 5 people coming) and the tub & bathroom sink were both dripping. Wouldn't stay there again.

A worn-out hotel. All the room doors on our corridor were warped so everyone had to slam them shut. Our bathroom door wouldn't close at all, the ice machine was broken, our matress had springs poking up all over the place, the wi-fi didn't work, the key-card entry from the carpark was broken and our window frames were falling to bits.

Asked for handicapped room. Hotel does not have available and no access to room except for 18" high curb to the room and same into room. Not what expected.

Very run down hotel. Completly in the dark at night, no lights at all. We even missed it the first night. The receptionnists were polite and the complimentary breakfast was acceptable. But this hotel needs to be redone . I would never recommend it to anyone.

Seedy Hotel. Stale odor bed sheets. Despite being a smoke free hotel room smelled like a smokers room. Double assigned room led to me being disturbed by another guest.

This is not a recommended hotel. Desk clerk was more interested in going out side to smoke than tending to the breakfast bar. There was not coffee at our time of need in the AM for breakfast. Desk clerk was also breakfast clerk??? Not good. Also we had heavy luggage and was placed on second floor with no elevators and no assistance from hotel employees. […] We asked for first floor rooms with no availability. The hotel is an older building and could be updated. However the rooms are very clean and the staff very accommodating.

We chose it for the access to hwy 17 east as we were heading home the next day. The room was clean, bathroom vanity a little old, but clean. We were only staying one night and arrived around 8:00 p.m. The hotel staff were very friendly and efficient. I would stay again.

Ok so we didn't pay a lot of money but this hotel is tatty. The reasons for saying this in relation to our room was that our no -smoking room had what looked like a cigarette burn hole in the bed cover and one of the dirty windows was completely cracked. There was no lift which meant carrying heavy cases up to the second floor.

I am Sorry to say that this did not live up to the Howard Johnson name.They had no place to hang up your clothes,had trouble with the electroic keys .It probably was not the holels fault as we had to get new remote.I would not stay again

Older motel was ok if it was only place you can find. But would prefer not to stay there again if can help it.

The hotel is a " tired property" that disgraces the brand name Howard Johnson. When was the last time any money was spent on the joint.? I was thoroughly disappointed in my stay there. I plan to tell as many people (I have already told several people) as I can not to ever stay there.

Great customer service! The gentleman in the evening was very helpful and super nice :D The manager in the morning (I think was the owner) was also terrific. Very accommodating to our needs. The place wasn't a luxury hotel, but it was clean. (Very out dated, but for the price was good) We'd stay here again.

I was worried when I saw the exterior of the hotel as it was very tired but the rooms were very clean, the beds comfortable and there was no noise.Maid did a great job in the am. We were quite satisfied with our room and appreciated beong so close to so many amenities such as the Chinese restaurant where we were able to walk for dinner. Also proximity to the highway was a bonus!

very old hotel, but rooms were very clean and tidy, very helpful and pleasant staff. Convenient location. With some renovations especially to outside will make a whole difference. The continental breakfast was good. Even though not much of choice what was offered was quality (better than some bigger named hotels continental breakfast)

Surprisingly well maintained; it's not new, but renovations and up-keep are holding back the signs of aging. My room was in the back and I had to traverse squeaky floors and strange turns, but the room was quiet and comfortable. I would stay again.

Upon arrival, our information relayed to the hotel was completley incorrect. Their booking showed a difference in the number of occupants, length of stay and they thought we had pets along. We stayed 2 nights and could smell a strong odour of mariguana in the stair way. the first night.
