A lovely hotel, great room with balcony overlooking the river, secure underground parking if a little pricey at €15 pn. Did not eat at the hotel other than a pincho with a drink at the bar. The hotel was the saving grace of a two-day visit as we were in Bilbao in May when it rained every day and had chosen the location in the hope of visiting the coast and a couple of beaches after first staying downtown for museums etc. Puente Colgante is not a misspelt toothpaste but an amazing meccano type suspension bridge which continually ferries […] cars and pedestrians aross the river. It's within a stone's throw of the hotel which is an impressive victorian era building which has been thoroughly modernised. Excellent friendly service from all staff and very good food in the bar and restaurant. Reasonably priced and with comfortable rooms, it is situated in this interesting suburb of Portugalete which has plenty to keep you busy on both sides of the river. we booked online and at that time the offer was for bed and breakfast but when we print the ticket it came as bed only,when we arrived that was confirmed,this was disapointing,the room was very light as it was near the square/prominade ,i would stay again but maybe a different room

We had a room overlooking the estuary. The view was wonderful. We had our pet dog with us. The room had everything that we needed and was very clean and tidy. The staff were really friendly and professional. The restaurant food was very good, typically Spanish, so beware of ordering a plate of meat, although cooked well. Hotel itself has great position and reception staff very helpful on arrival. In the evening we ate in the restaurant which was very disappointing. The waitress was very offhand until pulled up on this and then became very good. Half of the wines were unavailable and our choice of main course was finished! The starter, a mixture of croquettes was tasty […] but stone cold in the middle. However the senior staff member redeemed the situation by giving us a complimentary drink each and apologised. Staff at Reception couldn't have been more helpful, answering queries clearly and offering additional information and suggestions. Staff in the restaurant were less helpful, and seemed hassled and not in control. Our 'superior' room had a great view of the river and hanging bridge.

A basic three star hotel overlooking the river. The hotel restaurant was empty in the evening so we ate tapas in the bar instead. That was good. We chose the hotel because it is close to the Bilbao ferry port. In practice we found it difficult to find and park (we have a Range Rover and it was a tight fit in the underground garage). Very good location close to the busy centre of Portugalete. Very close to the Puente Colgante which is a great piece of meccano providing a super service across the river. Hotel was very good with very helpful staff and good value restaurant. And very good location vis a vis the Ferry. 10 minutes direct drive.

We stayed here for one night prior to our Ferry trip. The hotel is well situated, right on the river bank, next to the world heritage site that is the transporter bridge, and the old town. The metro station is only about a fifteen minute walk, and this will get you into the city proper for the Guggenheim etc. The Ferry terminal is about a fifteen minute […] drive away, depending on the traffic. The room was comfortable, and ours was riverside so we had a good view of the bridge. We ate in the gastropub, only a hamburger meal, but it was good quality and reasonable given the location. Good hotel, excellent staff and helpful. Hotel 15 mins from Brittany Ferries terminal. Next to wonderful transporter bridge 30 cents each way.

Portugalete is a lovely harbour town. The day we arrive there was a festival and we enjoyed every minute of it. The Hotel was excellent value, will stay there if I ever go back to Partugalete. A train ride will take you ito Bilbao, which is another lovely city. On the hole we had a great time

Very enjoyable stay, the hotel staff were helpful, the location was excellent being on the riverside, surrounded by cafe's and a long Promenade. Little opportunity for on street parking so there was a charge to garage the car. Due to steps to access the hotel not really suitable for people with mobility difficulties. Le personnel de cet Hotel est très professionnel, toujours à l'écoute, disponible et arrangeant. Les chambres sont agréables, très bien insonorisées même s'il n'y a pas beaucoup de bruit extérieur et le cadre est sublime avec le pont suspendu juste à côté. Mi estancia fué de solo una noche. Me trataron correctamente y con amabilidad. La habitación es regular, pasable para un 3 estrellas. Sin embargo la comida en la cafeteria del hotel me parecio floja, los pinchos de la barra parecian de hacia 2 dias, el pan duro,duro. Podria volver pero sin gastar el bar ni la comida. A proximité immédiate du pont transbordeur historique de Bilbao. Jogging agréable possible le matin sur les quais, ou promenade.

L' albergo esternamente si può dire che si presenta molto gradevole, un magnifico edicio storico, ristrutturato totalmente al esterno... appunto, dicevo esternamente....al suo interno nello specifico la ricezione potrebbe ancora, ancora passare, ma inoltrandoci già a partire, dall' ascensore ai corridoi lasciano a desiderare. Passando al punto di maggiore […] interese, per un ospite d'albergo e cioè alla stanza..... vi consiglio vivamente, a tutti ragazzi e non scherzo!!! di non entrare da lucidi, ma storditevi un pò con quello che riterrete più opportuno..fate voi...ma non entrate da lucidi...la prima stanza che avevo ricevuto sapeva puzza d'aria viziosa, sembrava che le finestre non fossero aperte da parecchi giorni, inoltre,come se non bastasse, ci accoglieva al suo interno un bel souvenir di benvenuto, una bella grande ragnatela sui muri. In generale, le stanze sono molto tetre, lugubri. Esponendo, però alla ricezione, le mie lamentele (i ragazzi sono più gentili), sono riuscito a farmela sostituire, con una a fianco, non che cambiasse l'atmosfera ma comunque era un po più pulita. Se proprio dovete soggiornare a Portugalete andateci da soli o con colleghi, non portate le vostre compagne/i. The hotel and room were nice, but be aware: A normal double room contains two single beds pushed together so that one person has to spend the night sleeping on the crack. The pillows on the bed were giant body pillows, not normal sized. The woman at the front desk was more than eager to give us a space in the parking garage, but neglected to tell […] us it costs 15 euros per night, even for a motorcycle.
