Best Western Hotel Villafranca - Rooma

I was very pleased with the Best Western Hotel Villafranca in Rome. Breakfast was more than sufficient, hotel was clean and much fancier than I expected, service was professional and prices were low. Only minus was the sweetiness of orange juice. I strongly recommend Villafranca for Rome-visitors.

I am not one to write reviews, but I felt this had to be said to all those looking for hotels in Rome. The pictures looked nice......don't let it fool you. Though we knew staying in Europe the rooms would be small this is to be expected, and we also knew that we would over pay....however I have some expectations from a four star hotel and this was not […] it. The beds were terrible, the bedding was terrible and a comforter you would question even touching. The Bathroom was ok, but the shower drain did not drain well, so you had to keep putting the water on and off for it to catch up. The hotel is located around the corner from the Termini station in Rome. Considering that you can get a cheap taxi from outside the station all the must see sites are available quickly from here. The area it's ok, close to the central station and the subway. The room has enough space, it's quiet, but has a little old style air about it. The breakfast it's medium, too many sweets, little food.

We had a room on the 4th floor and faceing the court yard. It's quite and clean. Staffs are polite and freindly. There are lots of restaurants around.

The hotel was very nice, but the bed was as hard as a rock! Other than that, it was very nice and the complimentary breakfast was outstanding ..... especially for Europe. Bus and metro were very convenient so it was easy to get to all of the major tourist sites. Would probably stay there again.

Overall, we were pleased with the hotel. It had a great complimentary breakfast in the morning, and access to wi-fi, which were two of the most important things for us. We enjoyed our stay in this hotel. The staff were nice and it's a big plus that they can speak English. It was nice to have an all you can eat breakfast. They have contracted an Italian guy to valet, whom you pay cash when you check out. They listed it as 27 Euro a day but that's the minimum. The room was very clean, though the hallway smelled like dirty bathroom (don't know why). The rooms are set up with twin beds, which are put together if you request a double bed. The location is great! It's close to most things you want to see in Rome. The main terminal (which is a train and metro stop), is only a few blocks away. There's also a bus stop a block away from the hotel. This bus stop is convenient because there are few bus lines that stops by it. The neighborhood offers a great array of various places to eat. We felt safe walking the alleys with our children. There is also a grocery store a block away, which is great if there are things you have forgotten or need to go to a supermarket for. Nice hotel but room was small and elevator was tiny. Trying to get luggage up to room was hard. Also bar was silly and closed to early. Breakfast was great but way too much going on while we were trying to eat. It was a free for all instead of a nice start to the day.

This isn't a terribly fancy hotel, but it actually exceeded my expectations (relative to what I paid). The bathroom was quite spacious and in good condition, and even the bed was fairly comfortable, though it looked pretty old. My main complaints were that the air conditioning didn't work -- this wasn't a huge issue since I happened to be there on a […] relatively cool night, but I could easily see it being a problem for others who were less fortunate -- and the front desk service was a little abrupt. We stayed here in July 2011. The hotel is convenient to central Rome, The Metro and Stazione Termini. There are lots of restaurants nearby however it can be very noisy at night. There is lots of street noise from time to time however it is Rome so, it can be noisy regardless of where you stay. The hotel staff is friendly and very helpful.

On our honeymoon and first trip ever to rome, We were expecting more than staff that rolled there eyes at us and seemed inconvienenced when we spoke to them, even when we said hello to them in passing they chose to ignore us.. THE AIR CONDITIONING DID NOT WORK, WE REQUESTED TEA MAKING FACILITIES WHEN THEY FINALLY SHOWED UP,THE FRIDGE DID NOT KEEP THE MILK FROM TURNING. The only thing to consider is Via Villafranca is only a block street, so it's difficult to find it in the maps, but once you get there, only 5 streets from Termini and you have access to all public transportation you will need.

This area is very accessable for getting around and is an okay area to be walking in at night. Overall my friend and I (two women) felt very welcome and safe at this hotel and location. There was a very nice restaurant across the street and several in the area. There is a laundromat with internet access just 1 1/2 blocks away as well as several ATMs in the area. The three of us stayed at the Best Western Villafranca for three nights. Pleasant staff at the front desk. The room was comfortable and clean. Unfortunately no WiFi and the breakfast room was a bit small for the number of guests in the hotel. As for the location ... within walking distance to the train station and many great restaurants.

Our room was spacious all things considered, the neighborhood was quiet, close to a subway, and with food and a small grocery store near by. I can't remember how we found this hotel while searching, but I would strongly recommend it to anyone closely budgeting their trip to Rome. Oh, and the breakfast was spectacular, too.

The Villafranca is really handy for the Metro and the main Termini station, which makes getting to the historical sites really easy. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was fine, with plenty on offer. Overall, a practical choice if you're in Rome for a few days.

The tub doesn't drain and you have to pay 18 euro a day for TV and Internet. The A/C was broken and in spite of several requests, no one fixed it. The pizza place right next door is great and cheap. Its an ok location, but I would go somewhere else the next time I go to Rome.

Almost everything about the hotel was fine.We had stayed there previously and had been happy to return to it,mainly for the location.The room ,this time was about half the size of the one we had last time,but it was mainly ok.There was no bath and the shower cubicle was too small.There was only one socket in the whole room,which had a table lamp plugged […] in.This made it difficult to plug in the kettle,when having tea or coffee.There was a problem with an overhead light which kept on lighting up during the night when we moved in the bed.I told reception about it next morning and the lady said she would get it fixed.However it was the same that night.On the last night I did some switching on and off various lights and that night we got darkness when we wanted it. The staff in reception during the day were pleasant and helpful,but the guy in the evening was grumpy and unfriendly ,as he had been the last time.He would certainly not attract business. Breakfast each morning was good,plenty of variety,juices,cereals,fresh fruit,cheese,cold meat and cooked bacon,sausages and scrambled eggs.These could have been warmer.There was a good selection of beverages. Best hotel experience in this price range in all my travels to Europe. Decent size room, modern accessories, full breakfast buffet including eggs, cereals,cheeses, variety of breads etc.,, air conditioned, 2 elevators, TV and more. Staff very helpful. It helped to […] look on Google Maps to get a preview of the front entrance. Everyone on the hotel staff I dealt with spoke English. The front desk helped me out on a few occasions. The room rate was very reasonable, and it had a working AC unit (very important during my July visit!). The one downside of the room was the shower, it was a small corner stall with 2 overlapping doors with the opening in the corner of the stall. I think some larger people would have a problem trying to use this shower. The breakfast buffet was good, lots of variety with eggs, sausage, bacon, fruit, cereal, breads, coffee, juice, and so on.
