We really enjoyed our stay in the Marshall house. Room was quite small, but big enough for two. Bed comfortable, everything clean & stylish. Enjoyed the cheese & wine provided Sun-Thu. Breakfast was good (coffee was afwul but it is almost everywhere in the US). No free parking. $10/day parking in a public parking behind the hotel (weekends $3/day), or $15 valet - didn't lend us the luggage cart to get our luggage from the public parking, which I did not like.

The Main Steet Inn was like a very nice trip into the past. The rooms were large and clean. The courtyard was delightful, an excellent place to savor the complimentary beer and wine. Our only disappointment--no flat screen TV.

I chose the inn for its location close to the Hilton Head Hospital as I was in town for a family member's surgery. It was very charming, clean, and welcoming. The staff was friendly and the check-in and check-out process was seamless. When I checked-in I was offered a glass of wine and upon check-out in the morning I was able to grab a cup of coffee […] and a piece of fruit to go. The room amenities-cold water in the mini-fridge, robes, and plush towels were a bonus. The location near small Main Street shops was convenient. "Gorgeous garden paths"
We stay here every year on our way to Florida and yes, it's out of our way, but well worth it. Rooms are luxurious, grounds beautiful and from 5-7 they serve wine and warm cookies. And in the AM have a very nice buffet.

The Main Street Inn isn't exactly on "Main Street" as one would picture the downtown area of a typical American town. Hilton Head is unusual in that everything is backed off the main roads. So this inn is tucked into a development area, but what was so surprising is how charming it is -- with gardens and fountains and rooms all decorated with a flavor […] of the antebellum South. I was there on business, so didn't have an opportunity to enjoy the 'spa' part of it, though it was recommended to me by the locals. One humorous inconvenience was lying in bed the first night hearing a steady sound like something was dripping. I checked all the faucets, which were fine, and discovered it was the ticking of an antique-looking desk clock that was easily heard in the quiet of the night. So into the bathroom that went for both the nights I was there. The good news is that the hotel was so quiet I could be kept awake by the ticking of a clock ... The hotel staff was very friendly. The property is beautiful and the breakfast is great. Our only complaint is that the hot tub looks nasty. I'm not sure if it was dirty or just needs to be repainted, but not what you would expect from a place with such a high service level.

Very nice Inn near everything. A little drive to beach and parking not too convenient at beach. Near shops, restaurants and golf and priced right.

"Perfect except for the rug in the room"
I was here for two nights with my wife. The ambience of the hotel was very nice, however the first thing we noticed was how stained and dirty the rug was. I spoke to the guest attendant who seem less than interested and gave me the key to the one other room. We found the rug in that room to be worse off than our original room. The rest of the room seem […] clean, although we did double check after our initial arrival. The breakfast was nice and the gardens were lovely. The pool was nice, but the jacuzzi looked moldy. We did have spa treatments which were very relaxing. With the exception of the first desk attendant, everyone else was very friendly and accomodating. A real gem of a hotel. The hotel is lovely, the setting relaxing and peaceful. The rooms are beautifully decorated. The carpet does need to be replaced. It was the only mark against the hotel. The staff couldn't have been more helpful. Answered all of my questions and I do ask questions. The breakfast was good and happy hour was a nice touch. "Felt like we were in Europe!"
This hotel is wonderful! Very European and very elegant! Only complaints are when I asked for a Diet Coke at breakfast, the server looked at me like I had two heads and told me there was a vending machine on the second floor. Just opted for juice. "Disappointed"
When we first arrived, we found dust on the carpet around the entire floorboard of the room and found dead bugs (one really big) under the headboard of the bed. We stayed for a week and the problem continued each day, They never gave us clean bed sheets even when there was still sand evident in the bed from a swim in the ocean, I was too tired to take […] a shower. The next day after they made our bed, I still found it had sand in the sheets. UGGGH, I am so upset! They love the look of clean but they NEVER CLEAN. There are only 3 things good about this hotel, the exterior and interior (from a distance) aesthetics was beautiful, the courtyard garden amazing, and full excellent breakfast receive each day. If you are interested in an New Orleans style hotel that is gorgeous from a distance but don't mind being dirty. I would recommend. Otherwise being a normal human I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND! Lisätietoja

The hotel was like a southern plantation home, with beautiful gardens and balconies. They served wine, beer, coffee, tea and cookies in the afternoon. A very nice buffet breakfast. They also provided bottled water in your room without charge. A wonderful place to relax.

The signs and awards posted outside the inn lead us to expect a "small luxury hotel." The facility was small and quaint. And there were some niceties provided---hot breakfast, wine and freshly-baked cookies in the evening, bathrobes. The hotel (or inn rather) lived up to the online reviews I read before booking the room. The inn has a botique feel to it (very charming). The inn grounds are well maintained and beatifullly lanscaped and provide a beautiful backdrop to having coffee and breakfast. The room itself was very nice and spacious, I especially liked the high ceilings and […] the overall decorations made it feel very unique, like we were staying @ a B&B. This place definitly has succeeded in developing a very unique style and charm and is worth the stay if you are trying to avoid the cookie cutter style hotel chains that seem to overwhelm most areas. The location is very quiet and set back off the main drag of HH Island and is very close to all of the Main St shops. Overall the location is basically in the center of HH Island and Rt 278. The complementry breakfast was so, so and we had to wait for most items to be refreshed which was a little annoying. The two other things that stood out were a dirty, spotted carpet and the lack of a flat screen HD TV. These are minor complaints in the grand scheme of the inn's overall rating. Went to the Main Street Inn with my wife for her birthday. The staff was friendly, the surrounding area was quiet (only minor problem was the water splashing into the pool overnight... was kinda loud and a little annoying). Enjoyed the nice breakfast. Would stay again when in the area...
"Very nice and intimate"
I love this hotel. It is very personal it is not the typical big hotel. It is only 3 level and extremely cozy very personal. One thing I notice though the pool was very small. Break fast could be better for what we paid for.
Pool fountains on all night made room very noisy, Noisy kids BEWARE if your looking for a quiet getaway.

Our stay at the Main Street Inn was wonderful! We only had two nights and at last minute went on Hotel.com and found this one room! It could not have been nicer! We arrived earlier than the check in time but that was not a problem. Very helpful with directions also. Enjoyed the quiet of this quaint Hotel, pool, buffet breakfast and beautiful garden. […] We were able to bike to the beach and other places. Main Street shops were handy and we could walk to dinner or shopping. We were very pleased with our short retreat! This hotel is reasonably priced, has beautiful grounds, is in a great area, and offers a free full breakfast and free cocktails in the evening. The one failing is that while the rooms are of a good size and comfortable, they and the furnishings are well aged. This wouldn't be a real problem if the housekeeping service was acceptable. For the first […] three days of my stay, the housekeeping service was very poor. Bed pillows left on the floor, coffe pot and cups unwashed...despite my leaving daily gratuities. Obviously the housekeeper changed toward the end of the week because the cleaning finally reached just OK. I'm not at all picky about cleanliness and so when I think a room is dirty, it is. My husband and I greatly enjoyed this lovely Inn. Beautiful Southern architecture, gas lighting and romantic gardens, spa, and lap pool. The delicious bountiful breakfast entices one to leave their pretty room and linger in the cozy, elegant dining room over the morning paper. Staff was friendly and seemed dedicated to making us wish we could stay longer. The hotel has plenty of charm. It made my wife extremely happy for her birthday. The hotel admittedly has some maintenance issues that are correctable...they just need to do it! Things like carpet replacement, air conditioning leaks, etc. Other than that, the hotel is really very charming.

Staying at this hotel was very relaxing despite the fact that we were there to attend a friend's wedding. "Outstanding Service and Staff"
The stay at the Main Street Inn was so much more than could have been expected. Upon arrival we were greeted by a wonderful and charming hostess. All our wants and needs were continually met throughout our stay. The staff was wonderful. They even came to our aid when in an emergency, a dentist was needed due to a mishap at the beach. With in moments […] of our return to the Inn the Staff had us off to a local Dentist and our trip was saved. This is truly a wonderful Inn in which to rest and relax. "honeymoon stay"
I gave this stay to my son and daughter-in-law for their honeymoon. They were both very happy. Their comments were that although the hotel is older, it is clean and well maintained and that the full breakfast every day was wonderful. I will stay at this hotel on my next visit to Hilton Head.
