This is our 3 year at the Catamaran, it is excellent. We had an upgrade to a bay view room this year, what more could you ask for. I would recommend to anyone

The spa was very relaxing and neat, loved it! Massage therapist was not very experienced. Hotel was very close to Seaworld.

We stayed here for a girls getaway in late November. It was a bummer that the pool areas & game rooms were closed. Overall, the resort is quaint (watch out if you're not a fan of birds - they are everywhere) & within walking distance of a few interesting shops & the beach. Some of the staff were quite pleasant, but some were pretentious or stand-offish. […] The spa services were the redeeming quality of this stay. Catamaran has a really nice steam room, sauna & dressing room and the spa staff were friendly & skilled (we were also the only clientele there). Watch out for expensive hidden resort charges (i.e. you have to pay extra if you want more than 1 coffee package per day). Lisätietoja

I normally do not write reviews but this hotel deserves one! Went to San Diego with the wife and 2 yr old, destination Sea World. My daughter could careless about Sea World but had the best time at the resort. It had ponds of fish, awesome looking ducks and large parrot type birds. Threw a fit when we had to leave. Rooms a little small but the rest of the resort makes up for it! The beach is great, nice pool and hot tub! Service was great!

The actual hotel was nice. The service was great. Only problem - there was no hot water New Years Day. So, that meant no showers for anyone in the Tower. Since we went through Hotels.com, they could not offer us any discounts or anything.

When we arrived for our 15th anniversary getaway, we discovered that we were given a room with 2 double beds in it on the ground floor. No way! Paul got us an upgrade and we ended up on the 8th floor overlooking the beautiful San Diego sky line and the Misssion Bay beach area. And we got our King size bed. We chose the hotel for the location but would likely not stay there again if it were somewhere else. The room we reserved (one king bed) was only available if we were willing to pay extra. They claimed that a reservation through a third party site does not guarantee a type even though we had multipe room types to choose from when booking. Not a big […] deal considering the next day the entire resort lost water pressure right during at the start of my shower. We were unable to shower all that day and the only explanation we received was that it was a city-wide problem but we failed to see any other affected businesses in the area. The Catamaran is right on the Bay sitting on a sand beach. The grounds are lovely- beautiful landscaping, ponds, walkways. Great pool & hot tub area. Our room, which we booked at a discounted rate, was shabby chic and clean. The kitchen area was dated but functional as were the furnishings. I believe there may be updated rooms available but we didn't […] mind a bit of wear and tear for a bargain rate. A comfortable, Polynesian-style resort hotel well situated on the shores of Mission Bay. Wonderful recreation and entertainment options nearby. The hotel staff is friendly and efficient. Great hotel but we were early for check in and they didn't let us into our room for 2 1/2 hours. They did give us bands to use the pool (though we didn't have our luggage...). We get there we are on the 7th floor,i said no way. That part of the hotel had a bad smell. Right away called front desk. They moved us to #218, which was fine with us. Get in there the air is blowing hot air. My husband ask some guy, he said call engineering. He called, within 3 min. he was there and it took 10 min. to repair.The employees were all […] very nice. The hotel in located directly on Mission Bay. Beautiful grounds and beautiful scenery. It was great to just walk a few minutes and cross the street to the ocean beach. This is our second stay at the Catamaran and I would reccommend it to anyone.

Everything was perfect about this hotel, except for the restaurant service. It was HORRIBLE! We ordered a Cesaer Salad and Chips/Salsa. 50 minutes later, still no food! That's when I cancelled the order. Decided to give the restaurant another chance and had breakfast there the next morning. Took 45 minutes to get the food and I rec'd the wrong omelette. […] Also, very hard to find a waiter/waitress after placing your order! This was one of the best hotels I ever stayed at. The staff was unbelievable, superior customer service. The grounds were absolutely beautiful. The bay was right there and the beach was a 3 minute walk.

The room was old and outdated in need of refurbishment. The bed spread was old and stained. The view of the ocean was very nice from the 8th floor. We ate at the hotel restaurant 3 times. The service was very good for 2 of the 3. The bad service came on the last day for breakfast. The service was non-existent. We were left sitting for over 15 minutes […] while others who came after us were getting coffee and their orders taken. I flagged the hostess down and complained. She would take care of it. Nice grounds but the rooms are bad. Dirty carpets, poor plumbing, in need of a remodel. The staff on room service are great and overall friendliness of staff is good. Great location.

My wife and I enjoyed the location and the staff was especially nice. However, at such a high nightly rate+ parking, It seemed a bit steep.

A significant portion of the staff (front desk) is not helpful or knowledgeable. The rooms are okay.

Excellent hotel service and hotel staff were great. Great location to walk to may eating establishments. Ocean at your finger tips as well as the bay beach. Pool was great. My family really enjoyed the tropical atmosphere, calm surroundings of this hotel. The staff was friendly and the the hotel is very kid friendly. My kids loved to go see the ducks, fish and birds as soon as they got up every morning. The location is also great, close to tons of restaurants, the beach, the bay, sea World, downtown, etc.

Stayed just the one night while I was down in San Diego. I made the reservations more then a month in advance for one room with king sized bed and one room with double beds. They gave us two double bed rooms instead. They did work to get my companions the king sized bed I requested and confirmed in my reservation but they wound up putting us on different […] floors. My room was ok. It seemed like it was for someone with a small family as it came with a 1950's stove, a toaster, microwave and a fridge. That was nice because it kept the drinks I had cold all night without going down several floors to the only ice machine in the building. The bed was comfortable, and the room was clean. The door to the balcony was broken, as the latch would not raise the catch on the door and you had to manually pull it off to open the door to have your view of the parking garage outside your room. The clock in the room was broken, it ran fast, and you could not correct the time, or change the alarm. The decor was not bad. The overall look of the place was very nice, and it is right on the water like they promised. Overall, it was an average hotel. The little things needed to be better, but it served its purpose. This was our 1st time @ Catamaran and were amazed about how great the location is (if you are going to SD to spend time on the beach). You can see the lifeguard tower on Mission Beach from the front enterence to hotel and are a < 10 min walk to the Crystal Pier on Pacific Beach. Lots of cool shops and small surfer bars everywhere. My wife and son loved our stay here. The room was older, but large and kept up very nicely. We enjoyed the large pool and hot tub. The environment was simply beautiful. If I ever go back to the San Diego area, I will make sure to stay here again.

We had an excellent time at the Catamarran. It is a beautiful resort. We were a bit concerned at first because we went with our two younger boys and we did not want them to be lound or disturb other visitors, and when we first drove up we thought it might be too fancy for a family trip. But there were many other families with young children, and it […] was a very fun atomosphere for kids with ducks and birds everywhere. The hotel was nestled between Misson Bay and the ocean (only a block away), so we spent all of our time at the beach or walking the boardwalk. Checking into the Catamaran Resort and Spa in San Diego was more difficult than it should have been. Since there are only four parking spaces available for "Registration" that always seemed to be occupied and the circle drive at the hotel entrance was also usually occupied with vehicles, finding a place to park was difficult The remaining spaces that […] are available near the loby entrance are labeled for "Valet only". Don't let me be misunderstood, there is plenty of parking at the hotel behind a gated entrance which is available for a fee of $13.00 per night that I did not see documented on the site. After dragging our bags into the lobby to register, I was asked to fill out a form with all ot the information that I had already provided on the web site. I was then instructed to drive around and park in the parking structure. Since there was no offer for assistance with our luggage, we dragged our bags back outside and drove around to the back where the parking structure was located. It does not appear that there was an elevator that serviced the parking structure, we had to carry our lugage down the stairs of the parking structure. The rooms were clean and well kept. But the hallways to the room was dark and worn. Normal activities in the adjoining room were easily heard. Some normal conveniences like soda machine and ice machines were located on the first floor. Not really that convenient if you are on the tenth floor. The location on Mission Bay was great and we enjoyed the location very much. Lisätietoja

We stayed at the Catamaran because we were chaperon's for our daughters' high school formal held at the resort. We live less than 30 miles away and it ended up being the perfect venue for their formal event and a great place for us to relax and enjoy a successful event. The room was very comfortable and the sitting on the balcony off our room made for […] a perfect view of the bay. We enjoyed a fabulous dinner in the hotel restaurant. fantastic location and you don't need a car! I already had one rented and only used 1/4 tank because we walked every where or rented bikes or took the trolly. The grocery was in walking distance as well as the beach. Parking is $13 a day so add that to your expenses. the bus can even get you to sea world and the padras games and to the zoo..... the […] hotel grounds were wonderful and so much fun for kids. great pool and you can walk across the street to the ocean or just out the back door to the bay beach where you can rent bikes and boats and play volleyball. room service food was good and the spa is so fabulous you have to go! the down side to the hotel is the actual room. VERY VERY outdated and not the place you want to spend your time. everything is old including the towels and the bed is incredibly hard and uncomfortable. they need to do some serious remodeling of the actual room. if you are a couple looking for a romantic get away and staying in your room ..... not the place you want to be. great for family and children of all ages. if you have two parent family make sure you give each other a break and go to the spa while the other watches the kids. the restaurant is a bit overpriced so make sure you ask for a microwave Lisätietoja

We found the resort last minute on Hotels.com and did not know much about it. What a pleasant surprise!!! The grounds were so beautiful, the staff was very accomodating, and being right on the harbor so the family could enjoy beach activities right out our door was great too! The resort was beautiful inside and out, liked the location 1 block from pacific beach, room was nice, lobby and sitting areas beautiful. Things I did not like, parking $13, curbs were not stroller friendly.
