Spindrift Inn - Monterey

Not thadt impressed. Tiny bathroom. TV is about the size of a computer monitor. No parking so we parked on the street. Positives are location and better than average breakfast.

Everyone at the Spindrift was extremely hospitable. Will definitely stay there again. So charming!

Perfect, relaxing getaway. Extremely comfortable room with windows opening to the water; kept the windows open and loved hearing the waves. Staff was friendly and helpful. Enjoyed the afternoon wine and cheese (took our refreshments to the rooftop garden).

My husband and first stayed her for our 25th wedding anniversary and have gone back on a regular basis We were on a two week road trip and this place was on the top of his list We found the property in need of repairs the fireplace in our room did not work and they moved us next door The fireplace did work there but the in roomrefrig ran all night long […] and the in room frig was very noisey as well We were sad the see that a place we come back to was no longer maintained in a manner we expect and feel we need to remove from our list Very sad and do not feel our comments will be directed to anyone who has impact in resolving the maintenance issues that need to be addressed The shower head was a joke Very sad for a favorite place to go Lisätietoja

I arrived late to the hotel (11:30pm). I was tired and hungry after travelling from the East Coast. I asked the very nice man at the front desk where I could grab a bite to eat. He noticed how tired I was and even though they don't have their own restaurant, he said that he could send the bell man out to pick me up something to eat and bring it to my […] room. I was so thrilled. I was able to get settled into my room and soon after the bellman brought me my dinner from a local restaurant right to my room, it was so wonderful. The room itself was fabulous. The next morning they brought me my breakfast (and everyone elses) right to my room for me to enjoy. A truly relaxing and fabulous experience In Monterey. I would highly recommend this hotel. This was our second stay at the Spindrift and we even got to have the same beautiful room! Everyone so cordial and welcoming. Again, as the first time, our ONLY complaint is hallway noise before we're ready to wake up.

Great location in the middle of Cannery Row. Loved the fireplace and sauna in the room. Our one problem was with referrals to other local businesses. DO NOT follow the advice of the staff about restaurants, spas, etc without doing your own research. The spa they sent us to (an affiliated business) was shabby. We had another great stay at the Spindrift. The King Ocean View room is just wonderful for a romantic stay....beautiful views, the waves crashing under your spacious window seat, hardwood floors, fireplace, comfy chairs by the fire and lovely, fluffy bed. The staff is always very friendly and provide excellent service. I am sure we will be back.

The view, the fireplace, the location....walking distance to restaurants and the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Loved it!

WHAT A WONDERFUL PLACE TO SPEND A GETAWAY WEEKEND. SITUATED RIGHT ON MONTEREY BAY. THE VIEWS FROM THEOCEAN SIDE ROOMS ARE MARVELOUS. THEY CLAIM THAT THIS HOTEL WAS VOTED THE MOST ROMANTIC IN THE USA, I WOULD BE THE LAST PERSON TO ARGUE WITH THAT CLAIM. IT IS A MUST SEE AND I WILL CERTAINLY RETURN AGAIN.

Nice central location easy walk to cannery row, marina and aquarium. The hotel is older but has nice touches such as wood burning fireplace, feather beds in room continental breakfast and valet parking.

The friendliness of the staff added to our wonderful stay at hotel. The rooms are quaint and we loved watching TV on the new, modern sets while lounging in front if the wood burning fireplace. Breakfast each day was on time and nicely presented. The bed was intimidating at first with it's multiple layers of feather bedding and comforters, but we slept […] like babies. If you want a romantic room...this hotel has it. We booked Room 305...an ocean view king room and they weren't kidding about the view. Our bay window was literally over the beach and the view from the window was gorgeous. Not to mention the fireplace, comfy overstuffed chairs and huge comfy bed. There was also a windowseat in front of the window with […] binoculars so you could look for seals and sea otters in the bay. Staying at the Spindrift was the crowning conclusion of a romantic trip along the Pacific Coast Highway. After experiencing Cambria and the Hearst Castle Christmas Tour, then traveling along the Pacific coast, we wondered if it could get any better...it did! We enjoyed a nicely decorated, clean, comfortable and cozy room on the ocean side of the hotel. […] The large windows looked out on the beautiful Monterrey Bay. We were able to open the windows to listen to the surf roll in and out. That, along with the wood burning fireplace made this a memorable anniversary celebration. The hotel is right on Cannery Row, close to everything including the Aquarium. The service there was exceptional. Really nice to have a wood burning fireplace in the rooms...but we couldn't stand having the fire going in either of our rooms we'd booked for ourselves and our guests because of the smell. Huge regret.

We had a great time in Monterey. The Spindrift Inn was a beautiful hotel that was very welcoming. the ocean view oom was great since we usually don't stay in hotels such as this one. The one downfall was that th bed was too soft for us. Maybe without the feather pillows and the feather pad we would have a better sleep but other than that it was great. […] I enjoyed having the continential breakfast brought to our room instead of have to get dressed and go downstairs. I loved this hotel!!! I was originally looking for a place that had a "jetted tub" but it was hard to find, so I settled with a fireplace. I couldn't afford the "ocean view room" so I settled with the Canary Row view. I was a little concerned with the reviews I read that said it was, "loud and noisy" on that side. So when I got to the hotel I asked […] the nice lady if we could get a free upgrade?? (with a smile). She said it would cost more but she could get me a room with a partial view of the ocean and Canary Row, room 208!! It was PERFECT! It didnt cost us more either! I didn't find it to be noisy but rather quite relaxing. We didn't even leave the room til check out the next day! haha! I would definitely go back again!!! Lisätietoja

I really enjoyed the Spindrift Inn. Like other reviews, the hotel was great for a romantic stay. The oceanfront rooms and the fireplace added immensely to the experience. The staff was great and ever helpful. The breakfast and wine & cheese reception were nice touches. I would definitely recommend it to anyone and stay there again. The only complaint […] I had was that the fireplace tended to make the room smoky, requiring me to open the window. I'm not sure if this was a normal thing, or just occurred because of wind, time of year or location of the room. However, that issue aside, I had a great experience at Spindrift. What a lovely experience! We had an ocean-side room that enhanced the experience considerably; but even without it, the room itself was extremely comfortable and charming. The bed was heaven. Gas fireplace, cozy. And location, perfect.

We enjoyed listening to the ocean and relaxing in our lovely room. We loved the hotel and will put it on our list of all time favorite hotels. The staff was very friendly and helpful. It was our 25th Wedding Anniversary and was the perfect place to celebrate it.

This is a special Inn, we loved it here. We reallly liked the 4-5 PM free wine and nibbles in the lounge, met loads of nice fellow holiday makers from all over the world.

What a fantastic little place. The staff were welcoming and friendly, the lobby was well decorated and attractive, the room was quaint, well equipped with a very comfy bed. Complimentary wine and cheese is provided along with a continental breakfast which you can enjoy in your room. These were both of an exceptional standard and a very nice touch. Wonderful Atmosphere, Everyone is so nice and everything is within walking distance. Love it!

Everything was fabulous! The room was beautiful - definitely worth the extra money to up grade to an ocean view.

Our room faced the street and was VERY noisy both late at night and early in the morning. No air conditioning and we were unable to open the patio door due to the noise and no screens on door or windows. Next door was empty, unattractive lot. Homeless men hung out there and on small beach in front of hotel and we saw them bathing in their underwear […] and urinating . Neighborhood is full of cheap souvenior shops. The Spindrift is a jewel of a hotel built on the beach in 1927, well maintained, and quite comfortable with a view of seals and sea otters from the window seats facing the ocean. The views alone are worth a stay -- sleeping to the sound of sea lions barking, gulls crying and the waves under the window was a joy. McAbee beach is a tiny beach which is […] accessed from the stairs at either end of the hotel. It is literally under the window, and about 50' to the water in low tide. All the little details that make an overnight stay special have been thought of here. The location is excellent-smack dab in front of Moonstone Beach; breakfast is WONDERFUL! The room was so clean and comfy. Only took us 8 minutes to reach Hearst Castle from here. It was a fabulous hotel would stay there again.

Everything about this hotel was very pleasing. I had an oceanfront room and I felt like I had a front row seat to Monterey Bay - the waves lapped on the sand beneath the open windows, with seagulls, comorants and pelicans scooting across the water in front of me. It was cool, but I kept the windows open to hear the sounds of the monterey bay and sat […] comfortably in front of the fire (gas lit with real logs) in the evening. The bed was like a giant pillow - very cozy. The wine and cheese in the afternoon was delightful and there are many good restaurants for dinner that are steps from the front door of the inn. It was a delight having breakfast brought to my door in the morning - the one disappointment, however, was that the breakfast was so rudimentary - toast with a few slices of deli cheese, a container of yogurt, a packaged mini-muffin and fruit consisting of a cluster of grapes,a banana or a small wedge of watermelon. I've never written a hotel review before, but knew I had to after staying here one night. We booked at the last minute, and were worried about the quality given that the rate was less than what was being charged by other hotels in the Monterrey area. It's located in the Cannery Row area, which is very touristy, but probably great if you're looking to […] go the Aquarium or shop. The good news is there is plenty of free on street parking at night during the week (after 10:00 and before 9:00 the next morning). Anyway, the hotel is relatively small, but the rooms are very clean, fresh, and comfortable -- cozy and airy.....almost spa-like..... and not cramped at all. The room had lots of nice amenities -- flat screen TV with lots of channels, Aveda products in bathroom, robes, continental breakfast delivered to the room, and fire place. Great location and very comfortable room on Cannery Row. The bed was actually more cushy than a Westin bed... and the price included a good continental breakfast delivered to your room on your schedule... a definite plus. Within easy walking distance of the Monterey Bay Aquarium. A great getaway hotel!
