We enjoyed our stay at West Gate. Hotel service was average I would say. I wouldn't say the staff was overly helpful but they were courteous. Our room was comfortable except for a few problems. A/C wasnt working well in 1 of the rooms and never cooled down. We had problems with toilet flushing correctly. As stated with other guest reviews, the hotel […] layout is confusing and you have to travel a fair distance to get to the game room vs. pool, etc..that being said we felt the room was comfortable mostly and served our purposes and seemed to be family oriented. the suite worked out fairly well for our young children. I quite enjoyed my brief stay while kicking off a birthday weekend. The maze-like hallways may influence the quiet solitude of this giant resort which set the relaxation mood. The VIP Welcoming committee was low pressure and very pleasant--the cookies are delicious. Finally, my complaints were the pool hours. They close at 10:00PM on weekends, even […] the adult pool!! Slightly less annoying was the onsite Market also closed at 10PM. The Staff are great at accomodating you needs and their were a lot of things to do at the hotel. It is also very close to the outlets and lots of beautiful places. Loves the steam room in the showers and steam rooms at all the pools. Enjoyed our stay. The room was nice and clean, staff were friendly. Bed was good as far as hotel beds. I have stayed in more comfortable ones, but not bad. Staff and location was great. The walls are thin. We could hear what was going on beneath us and to the right of us. Luckily it quieted down as we were going to bed. Kind of hard to navigate thru the whole building. The outside is beautiful and the inside is just mediocre. "Close to the snow covered mountains."
This hotel was great to stay at. The steam shower was a great addition to the room amenities. The layout of the hotel was a bit challenging due to the size of the establishment. It was odd to be offered a time share when I checked in, but at least the staff quickly and politely relented. Indeed, the staff were all very nice and helpful. It's not their fault they work in a monstrosity of a "hotel" that's planned like a soviet era missle bunker. This facility is mostly time share available for rent, it is an older building and sound travels easily between condos. The staff try very hard, however there is a lack of system to run it smooth. The check in experience through expedia was awful! We paid in full but there was no record of it at the hotel. We had to double pay and deal with it once we got to the room. That being said the concierge made us amazing dinner reservations weeks ahead of Sundance and she also arranged transportation to and from the airport. The ski valet was great, […] quick and friendly. The room was very dark and dingy and the cleaning service was late in the day several days. You had to go to 3 separate floors for your room, your ski locker and the ski valet. The chair lift was very close to the hotel and the mountain was terrific. Be ware that The Canyons has nothing to do after the mountain closes. There are 1-3 restaurants there. You must go to Main Street, Park City for any action. No skis/boards/shoes permitted in the room so to 4th floor for shoe locker then to 6th floor to skis/board locker. To get from one section of the hotel to the other, to 4th floor for linkage. Resort has a lot to offer for the entire family. The kids(teenagers) loved the huge indoor outdoor pool, ping pong, game area, and independence to jump on the slopes whenever they pleased. The hotel is beautiful, and located right up on the mountain. I don't ski, but it seems very ski oriented. It was perfect for seeing all of the fall colors though! The room was spacious and had all the amenities we expected. The layout of the hotel was slightly confusing, but okay once you got used to it. Once we checked-in a worker took us to their time-share desk to give us a sales pitch. It took only thirty seconds, but was annoying because a) I don't like sales pitches when I'm trying to enjoy a vacation and […] b) I hadn't even seen the inside of my suite. There was a blood stain on one of the robes and the sheets and the floor just didn't feel clean. Other then that, we had a big open suite with a jetted tub, large shower with steam feature, full kitchen, and fireplace. It's super close to the canyons. It was terrible, the room they put us in was dusty, it had candy wrappers on the floor and deodorant sticks laying next to the TV. This obviously means they do not thoroughly clean their rooms. I expected a nice room but it was suprisingly nice. Bed was not especially comfortable, seemed old with dips in parts of the mattress. Great food on site and nearby.
