What an excellent idea - bar, restaurant and a picturesque hotel - all in one building! The staff was friendly and most service minded. The traditional breakfast was hearty, well prepared and tasty. We are aged 74 & 73 respectively and were not aware that we would have to climb 79 steps to our room! No lift. This should be mentioned in any recommendation.

This is a really neat little hotel. As with any accomodation on the Royal Mile, there is alot of street noise. I was so tired I just blocked it out, but it really bothered my husband. The rooms are all themed, we had the Watt room. Very nice and extrememly clean. The bathroom was enormous! The toilet and shower were "fiddly", took a while to figure […] out how to make them work properly, aInd there is is peeling paint in places, and bad patch jobs where things had been repainted. Walking distance to everything! The rooms are decorated after real people so all rooms vary according to your person! We had a famous builder so our room was large with building plans and a huge metal bridge bed! There is a bar and restaurant in the hotel and it's very quirky. This hotel is perfectly placed in the Royal Mile area. The hotel has a nice atmosphere, almost a little spookey at night with the old sounds of an old building. The staff is very nice and helpfull.

querky hotel, I stayed in the AGBell room which was themed around the telephone, clean enough but curtains hanging off the runner and couldn't be closed, consequently woken by sunlight an hour before I wanted to get up, given I was up at 4:00 am the previous day for the flight up to Edinburgh, not too happy. reception located at the back of the downstairs […] bar, which takes up the whole of the ground floor was kind of weird for a hotel and no lift, so 4 flights of stairs with a suitcase will get your heart rate going. What ever you do don't take into account the photographs when booking this hotel. It has a crackingly good location and the staff were friendly but i'm afraid to say that is about it. The room was stuffy and a lot smaller than expected. The sink was cracked. The bathroom light did not work. It was dusty. v cool rooms and superbly located but that's where it ended. No lift in the Hotel - important for some to know. Housekeeping seemed to ignore that there was no shower gel in room on two occassions. The Bank Hotel was almost like a hostel or perhaps a brothel. There was no elevator and our room was on the third floor. We had to walk up red halls and red carpeted stairs. Luckily the manager carried our heavy suitcases up for us. We let them slide down when we left. The motif was a little phoney, Alexander Graham Bell room with fake switchboard and […] telephone poles. The windows were bolted so they could not be opened and it was very hot with no thermostat. Our room was great and you could see the royal mile, 5 minute walk to the castle. Also very close to princes street and the gardens. The food was very reasonable and fresh made. The breakfast was great and a big plate.

If you value sleep this hotel is not the place to stay. Our room was on the 3rd floor. When I asked where the elevator was, I was told there was none. We had to drag suitcases up 3 flights of stairs. The rooms did not have air conditioning. The window in our room only opened with a crack. The hotel is in a great location for visitors who plan to walk to most major sites on or near the Royal Mile. The room was very comfortable but needed a few repairs. The staff was attentive and quick to help and address any of our needs. We really enjoyed the "uniqueness" of the themed rooms. The Friday night of our stay it was noisy in the bar downstairs and the noise from the people congregating on the streets outside the hotel was loud until well after 4:00AM. We would stay at the Bank Hotel again if it on weeknights and if we had rooms on the upper floors. Great location, just a few minutes walk from the train station. 16 unique rooms each featuring a different famous scotsman. Hotel is converted from an old bank and it has a two story bar/restaurant in the lobby. Nicely furnished rooms, large bathrooms, great friendly staff, and good food. What can you say...the jar of locusts was a bit creepy...but the room was lovely, bed comfy, plenty of space and the windows block out 95% of noise (not including ambulance etc), for a hotel on the royal mile a 5 min walk from the tattoo it was a godsend, and the 24 hour bar for residents is a big bonus. Hotellet var inte prio 1 för Bank Hotell & Bar utan personalen var mer barpersonal. Vilket i vårt fall passade utmärkt för en weekend. Vi fick rum på vån 3 (högst upp) => många trappor men man blev inte störd av baren.

Nach dem, was manche ehemaligen Besucher so über das Bank Hotel geschrieben hatten, musste einem ja fast Angst und Bange werden. Klar, es ist ersteinmal ungewöhnlich vom Kneipenpersonal ins Zimmer begleitet zu werden. Es ist halt kein klassisches Hotel, sondern eine Kneipe mit Zimmern. Die sind aber geräumig, gemütlich und für die Lage auch ruhig, […] zumindest im 2. Stock. Auch mit dem Wasser oder der Sauberkeit hatten wir keine Probleme. Einen Aufzug gibt es nicht, einen Hotel-Parkplatz ohnehin nicht. Aber leider auch keine Vergünstigung oder Kooperation mit anderen Parkhäusern/-plätzen. Fazit: Günstige Zimmer in bester Lage, kein vollwertiges 4-Sterne Hotel, aber ich würde es sicher nochmal buchen. Lisätietoja

Trevligt hotell med endast 9 rum. Blev därför väldigt personligt. Godkänd frukost, men själva mijön var kanon.Centralt läge utan att störas av trafik eller den pub som finns på bottenvåningen.Jättetrevlig personal.

エディンバラ・ウェイヴァリー駅到着当初、平面図では位置関係（高低差）が把握出来ていなかったので、駅や近所の人に教えてもらった最短コースでホテルへ向かったが、急な階段が多くて面食らった。ホテルの部屋は４階で、リフト（エレベータ）がなく、荷物運びが大変だった。ホテル到着後、駅の近くの観光案内所などで情報を得て、駅周辺を歩いて諸施設を確認した結果、ホテルと駅の連絡は、やや遠回りになるものの、ゆるやかな坂道を利用すれば楽なことがわかった。コンビニや市内循環観光バスの発着場も近くにあり、個人旅行者には大変便利だった。

Hotel con buen servicio.Personal limpio en todos los aspectos, muy buena atención. Mención especial tiene la cocina con un buen desayuno, y una cocina a tener en cuenta para comer y cenar. Charmigt litet hotell med bästa läge. Varje rum har ett namn och ett tema efter känd skottsk person. Kul och lärorikt! Mysig restaurang/pub och överlag häftig inredning - det ÄR en f d bank. Trevlig personal, hyggligt utbud på öl och whisky och typiskt brittisk mat. Stabbigt men gott och vällagat. Börjar bli dags att ge rummen en uppfräschning samt […] kanske installera en hiss. Centralt och bra hotell till ett bra pris! Små men perfekt anpassade rum, trevlig personal - allt jag behövde! Kan varmt rekommendera det. Ha dock gärna med öronproppar om du vill sova då det ligger mitt i smeten och det ligger ovanför en pub.

The Pub on the ground floor made a lot of noise, and so did traffic and shouting/screaming from the streets. My room was spacious and a big bed was comfortably soft. The staff had forgotten to bring towels and I had to call the reception. A sturdy smell of years and years of party was leaking through the walls. Fint hotel med en god service og flotte værelser. Ligger meget centralt for oplevelser i byen, der er ca. 5 minutters gang til Princes Street og Waverly station hvor tog og busser er.Hotellet ligger på The Royal Mile hvor der er godt gang i den, og ikke langt fra Grassmarket og den gamle del af Edinburgh by, samt slottet som man går til på 10 min.

Zentrale Lage war sehr gut, Hotel für eine Städtetour gut geeignet.

L'Hotel è situato nel bel mezzo del Royal Mile, a due passi dal castello, da Princes Street e soprattutto dalla fermata del bus per l'aereoporto. Le camere sono tutte stupende, sembra di tornare indietro nel tempo, le colazioni abbondanti, i proprietari molto simpatici e disponibili, il pub sotto l'Hotel è molto frequentato dai giovani del luogo a tutte […] le ore e propone iniziative musicali carine ogni sera (e ottimi piatti caldi). Il prezzo è un po' alto specialmente per studenti viaggiatori (oltre 2-3 giorni inizia ad essere proibitivo) però per un fine settimana è senza dubbio l'ideale..molto romantica la camera di A.G.Bell, e anche quella di Stevenson..assolutamente ricercate ed eleganti!
