Clarion Hotel St. Paul - St. Paul

At first things seemed fine with the hotel. Shortly after we got to our room we discovered the TV didn't have sound on most of the channels. Saturday when housekeeping made up our room, they gave us a couple of new towels, but didn't take the dirty dishes or make the beds. The staff was rude. I wouldn't stay there again.

Exactly what the title says. Our room was a little outdated but was never-the-less comfortable. The front desk staff could have been a little bit more attentive and helpful. That being said I was satisfied with the rate I got for a one night stay and the free breakfast was much better than I've gotten other places. If you're looking for class and first-rate […] service, this isn't your place. If you're looking for reasonably priced place to stay near downtown St. Paul for a night or two I'd say go for it. Was very disappointed in the fact that I asked about having a hot tub they said yes, but didn't told me that it didn't work. That's why we chose this hotel because it was close and had a hot tub.

The hotel was kept fairly clean. What was disturbing to me, is that the room was booked for three people and yet we were only given continental breakfast for two and told we would have to pay for the third. What is the purpose of a free continental breakfast if there is a limit. The room was booked for three people, I was charged for three people. Our stay at the Clarion was very enjoyable. Continental breakfast was very good. We would stay there again.

Nice, clean room. Very quiet. Found out there had been a wedding reception one evening during our stay. Never heard a thing!

First room, door lock did not work. After several visits back to front desk for new keys, I was given another room, a deluxe suite. That door lock did not work either. I got in with help of hotel staff. This was a waste of almost 20 minutes. Staff said they were having trouble, and locks of all doors should be cleaned. Room was dirty when we arrived. One we didn't get fresh towels. Ice machines were not working. Breakfast was a joke; hardly any choice and the waffle sirup tasted just awful (how can you make sirup taste bad???). They are going through rennovation so things were a little odd, but not bad. I felt right at home there and enjoyed my stay.

My son and I stayed here for two nights before meeting our family in Wisconsin. Very friendly people in the restaurant! Thanks for the drawing and music! Would stay here again. If you don't want to spend alot on room rates and like it clean, this hotel you should consider. We stayed for two nights and the location is not that far from mall of america. Drive alittle and save some money. One downfall, no convenient restaurants other than the hotel-bar / restaurant.

This hotel appears to have been pretty substantially neglected for quite some time. The lobby looks nice, and the pool's nice, but that's about it. The rooms were completely devoid of standard hotel room staples like a pen and a notepad. The staff is friendly and helpful, which is good, because you're going to be going down to the lobby and talking […] to them every ten minutes. For example, you have to go down to the lobby to find out what pizza restaurants deliver there, then you go back to your room, call the pizza restaurant, and realize that the hotel's address is nowhere to be found in the room, so you walk back down to the lobby to ask the clerk the address. You will attempt to use your room key to get into the exercise room and find it doesn't work; you will go back to the lobby to tell the clerk your key doesn't work in the exercise room door and she will only then tell you that the exercise room requires a completely different key, which she will then give to you. Wall signs on every floor point towards alleged ice machines on the first and third floors, but only the first floor actually has an ice machine. The on/off switch for the whirlpool is, perplexingly, located out in the hallway, which you will not know until you spend 15 minutes looking for it, then go to the front desk to inquire about. We found a Rice Krispies bar, sunglasses, and toenail clippings in our room. There were weird stains on the pool towels. Some sections of the hallway carpet look like the floor of a New York subway station. Really a bizarre place. I wouldn't recommend taking your wife/girlfriend here, you will never hear the end of it. Poor illumination inside the room. There is need to improvement on the cleanliness. The pool needs to be clean on daily basis.

This hotel was well out of the city noises and the price was excellent, we only had one problem with a male housekeeper entering our room without knocking at 8:00 a.m. in the morning.

The overall condition and cleanliness of the room was ok, but we didn't get any washclothes and we could have used another pillow. We did call for one. The pool was fine but the hot tub was cloudy, the timer was located across the room and not marked so we could find it and when I checked later it was running but had four or five inches of foam on it. […] I didn't use it. The breakfast in the morning needs someone to keep things stocked as there was no milk or OJ. They could use more waffle irons, if they make sure to bring out more batter. Had to ask for everything. I like a great bargain and was thus very satisfied here. Room was clean and comfortable. Really nice people in the bar and grill located in the hotel. No restaurants nearby, but right off highway. Hotel was a disappointment however it is now under new management and may improve soon. They ran out of clean towels for a day; I had to request a new room because the first smelled terribly of mildew. While the room was attended to each day, the floor was never vaccumed well.

The hotel was under going a renovation. The hallways were full of tools,paint cans, garbage and other things. The elevator was painted one night,so we had to use the stairs. The paint was already messed up the next day. There were 4 of us in the room and they only left one towel everyday, we also had to ask for towels in the pool area.
