We wanted something in the downtown area so that we could walk and see the sights. The King Charles was perfect! We walked to the harbor and all over downtown and never felt like anything was too far. Room was clean and bright and the staff was extremely friendly and professional.

My wife and I loved our stay at the Best Western in Charleston. We arrived a few hours early, and they let me park my car in their lot from the moment I arrived. They also have free parking, which is rare in Charleston. They took my cell number and called me as soon as my room was ready for me to check in (which was an hour or so before the 4 pm check […] in time. The room was a good size, especially the bathroom. The bathroom was large and very modern, but the room maintained a traditional Charleston type feel, which was nice. Every part of the room was very clean. The bed was very comfortable, I slept very well. The TV gave us access to many more channels than most hotels. The room included a shared balcony, which, though it was overlooked the parking lot, was a nice feature. We could at least see our car from our room at all times. Breakfast was not free, but the complete buffet breakfast was not bad for the price, and there were plenty of options. Yes, a cheaper breakfast could be had elsewhere, but you would get much less food. We ate breakfast outside on the patio near the pool, overlooking the street, which we enjoyed. The location was great. We considered another hotel 4 blocks away that was a similar price, but this location is perfect. It's walking distance to everything. The market is 2 blocks away, all of the main restaurants are close, and even the waterfront park and battery are not terribly far away. We didn't have to drive anywhere within the city. The price was also very good. It was significantly cheaper than the upscale hotels, yet we didn't feel we lost much in the way of quality. The Best Western was very nice inside, and the staff was extremely professional. Housekeeping was great. One day we forgot to take the 'Do not disturb' sign off our door. We asked the front desk if our room could be cleaned anyway (it was 3 pm) and they said no problem, and it was cleaned for us. Great Hotel in the middle of the histortic district. Easy walk to most attracctions - Market, King Street shopping, College of Charleston. The Inn is close to the market area and a lot of great food. It is in a very old building and the drop-ceiling in the hallways could make a claustiphobic person uneasy. The mattresses were VERY soft and took a long time to get used to. Overall, a great place for an overnight stay and would reccomend it as such. This hotel was in a great location to walk around the historic district. The hotel staff was very helpful in making dinner recommendations and giving directions. Although the room was small because the hotel is older it was clean and oomfortable. I would stay there again if in the area.

For the money i would stay somewhere else. Hardly any parking, long walk to room, AC keep going from cool to heat or vice versa (20 degrees outside), frontdesk was kind of clueless, breakfast was not worth the money for either the cold or hot, woke up in the morning to a freezing hallway.

What a lovely hotel! Everyone was so nice, free parking a great deal. We parked the car and walked the whole three night stay. Town is beautiful and hospitable.

We had a great stay. The location of this hotel is what will bring us back again.

We felt so comfortable at this hotel. The front desk was average and we didn't need them much, but once we entered the rest of the hotel we just loved it. The area right behind the reception desk is the main lounge area with free afternoon cheese and crackers, and very knowledgeable and friendly bar tenders that are like concierges. The restaurant has a very reasonably priced hot buffet breakfast in a cheerful and pretty setting. Free parking and walking distance to the historic houses and sites as well as all the great King St shopping and restaurants. If you like "farm to table" dining, make reservations at Fig across the street ahead of your trip. They have a nationally recognized owner chef. We also had pizza at Manza (on King St), which was unique and great farm to table quality. Both of these restaurants were recommended by the bar tender at the hotel and were spot on! I am so happy that we chose this hotel, and I did tons of research. It was in the center of everything, the staff were exceptional, and the hotel was very clean. The bartender made me laugh very time I saw him with his curly mustache. We had an excellent time for our first visit to Charleston and we will be back to this hotel for sure! The only downfall […] to our visit is that we just wanted one more day to try to cram more stuff to do (and eat) but they were completely booked because of the New Year's holiday weekenders coming. Great location with walking to all of the sites and restaurants. The "happy hour" in the hotel was very relaxing before heading out for the evening.

Everyone was super accommodating and friendly. Our room was spotless and extremely comfortable. We were given great recommendations for our stay.

My fiance and I were on a two week vacation and Charleston, SC was one of our stops. This hotel paled in comparison to the other cities we visited, literally it was blown out of the water by other destinations. Though clean and in a reasonable location, the staff didn't seem to be very attentive or intelligent. I paid to upgrade to an "oversized king […] w/ balcony" room - we were pleasantly surprised that the balcony was shared with two other rooms and overlooked a parking lot... and only a parking lot. Our biggest surprise came in the morning, just after the sun came up, with the sound of a jack-hammer vibrating the entire room. The hotel was replacing their air conditioning system during the off-months, but failed to mention that heavy construction would be taking place literally under the floor to our room. The noise was unbearable. There was no point in switching rooms at that point, so we just packed our stuff and checked out despite the very early wakeup call that we didn't wish for. When we brought this up at the front desk, they almost seemed to have forgotten that there was construction going on in that part of the hotel. Overall, nice rooms. Clean hotel. My 84 year old Mom and I had a very comfortable handicapped accessible room, with all the conveniences and amenities needed. The car was parked in the covered garage, 15' from the hotel entrance and elevator, then our room was only 15' from the elevator. I can't think of a more perfect hotel for us. The location was great. The hotel was clean. Customer service pleasant. My only complaint is that they were in the process of upgrading their ac system so the room was not as cool as I would have liked. I did not receive notification of this until I got in the room. There wasn't really a view either. With that being said though you're in Charleston […] within walking distance to tons of things so who needs to really worry about the room. We really enjoyed our stay at the BW-King Charles. The room was a bit small, but very clean and comfortable. You'll get that with an older building. The large bathroom was a pleasant surprise, along with the fantastic shower with great water pressure and nice hot water. The beds were comfortable and we were able to adjust the temperature up and down […] very easily. Do not expect a "view" from your room. This is a U shaped hotel that over-looks the parking area below. It's one-block convenient to King Street and tons of shopping and dining options, yet seemed quiet (no real street noise). It was a bonus to have free fruit/cheese/crackers and cookies each evening from 5-7 with discounted drinks in the hotel bar area. Free coffee and tea were available around the clock. We chose not to eat breakfast in the hotel because the price was a little much ($7.95 for continental breakfast and $9.95 for "full" breakfast). There is a new Dunkin Donuts within a one-block walking distance on Market Street which we frequented. For a 3 star hotel, we had a great experience there and will definitely choose this hotel again!! Lisätietoja

The hotel and its location was wonderful for the price. I think however that attention should be drawn to the labyrinthian nature of the hotel as patrons may have mobility issues. One of our party did and being located at the back posed unnecessary challenges. Otherwise a great stay.

This hotel is clean and convenient...parking is free which is a bonus in Charleston. It is located just 2 blocks from The Market and about 3 blocks from King Street. The only issue we experienced were dealing with noisy neighbors. We didn't complain, but the occupants staying in the room next door were quite loud. This was our first stay in the BW King Charles Inn, and our first visit to Charleston. We chose this hotel because of its location and its free parking. We would go back because the staff is terrific (friendly and helpful), the room was lovely, and the bed was very comfortable. I cannot say enough about how much we enjoyed our stay at the Best Wester King Charles Inn. The room was small but comfy. The staff was helpful and friendly. The hotel is located just 1 block from Market St in the historic district so all the restaurants, shopping and tours are very close by. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. A huge plus is free parking and you don't need a valet to park or retrieve your vehicle. The room was comfortable and nicely decorated. What a weird layout for a hotel. Hard to get around without having to go through the parking DECK , yese,m you read that correctly. Also, while having a glass of wine in the lobby during happy hour, be careful as housekeeping rolls their linen carts through the middle of the room. Very nice hotel. Close enough to walk to alot of must see sights. My only complaint was that for the cost of the room, breakfast should have been included.

this is a beautiful hotel ideally located in downtown charleston, sc., suited for parking your car in the free parking lot and walking all around town. a free breakfast would have been nice and while surrounding hotels price out at much more per night, it was still quite high, esp. on the weekends. overall, we are pleased with our choice of a 2 night […] stay there. We really enjoyed our stay. Hotel was very quiet, we never heard any of the other guests. The room and bath were updated and very nice. Free parking and in a great location. Absolutely no complaints at all - and I am a bit picky!

Staff extremely helpful and pleasant. Our room quiet in good area. Layout of hotel practical with small pool and adjoining relaxation areas added bonus. Hotel situated within walking distance of all attractions including good shops and restaurants. Only criticism is rooms had too much large unnecesary furniture in them.

Stayed here for 2 nights Aug 23-25. Check in/out was easy and the staff was always very helpful. I initially got a room on the 4th floor but it smelled like someone had sprayed the room to cover up smokers. I confirmed that the entire hotel is a non-smoking hotel and staff apologized for the smell and I was offered a different room on the 3rd floor. […] The bed was comfortable and it was nice to have a good fridge. The bathroom was small but it had a very large shower. Free parking is a WONDERFUL perk but it does fill up quickly each night. Location was excellent. I also appreciated the use of their free computer access. Did not have a chance to enjoy the wine/cheese reception or breakast but I would recommend this hotel to friends. Very nicely decorated and appointed. Located near the heart of the city and within walking distance of most of the attractions. The free parking was a definite plus! Will definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone.

Usually I would not stay in a Best Western either, but this was in the heart of town where all the great shopping is and easy to get to the College too. Room was spacious, very clean and well appointed. I will stay here again!
