This unique hotel is the site of a historic building in Oklahoma City. It has easy access to interstate highways. I liked the ease of parking right in front of our room, yet with the close access to the main floor with dining area all on the first floor.

The hotel staff was very nice and welcoming. A few things were missing when I first got there, but were quickly fixed after I called and let them know. The Wi-Fi internet was running extremely slow mid-day to evening.

I called ahead to book a handicapped accessible room. When I arrived I was booked into an upstairs room with no elevator. The hotel staff then put me in a downstairs room with a broken heating/ac unit. The cleanliness of the room left something to be desired.

The building, while a little tricky to find on the confusing downtown OKC freeway system, is a real classic -- a colonial-style brick building with a gorgeous interior that we actually didn't believe was the hotel at first. THIS HOTEL IS AWFUL! THE OWNER AND HIS WIFE ARE VERY UNPROFESSIONAL ALSO. FIRST, I GOT MY ROOM AND THERE WAS AN ODOR IN THE ROOM, THE TOILET YOU HAD TO HOLD THE KNOB DOWN FOR AWHILE BEFORE IT ACTUALLY FLUSHED AND THERE WAS A HOLE IN THE FLOOR IN THE CLOSET. SO, I CALLED AND ASKED IF I COULD SWITCH ROOMS BECAUSE THE SMELL WAS ACTUALLY MAKING ME SICK, […] IT SMELLED OF MOLD AND MOTH BALLS. THEY SAID THAT THEY WOULD FIND ME ANOTHER ROOM, BUT THE LADY CAME UP TO MY ROOM WITH AIR FRESHNER (AS IF THAT WOULD HELP WHEN THE SMELL WAS ALSO IN THE CARPET) ASKED DID I WANT TO MOVE TO THE ROOM NEXT DOOR, I CHECKED IT OUT AND IT SMELLED LIKE POO (EW!) SO SHE SAID SHE WOULD CALL WHEN THEY FOUND ANOTHER ROOM.. 30 MINUTES LATER NO CALL, SO I CALLED THEM, THEY SAID THEY FOUND ONE THEY WERE JUST CLEANING IT AND SHE WOULD CALL RIGHT BACK.. ANOTHER 30-45 MINUTES.. NO CALL SO I CALLED AGAIN. THEY SAID THE A/C WAS BROKE AND THEY WERE FIXING IT AND IT WOULD TAKE ABOUT 2 HRS SO WE COULD COME GET THE KEY AND IT WOULD BE READY BY THE TIME WE GOT BACK TO THE ROOM. SO WE LEFT. The front desk was very helpful. However, it was hard to tell where the entrance was. Also, we went up to the room and pulled the sheets back and there was black hair everywhere. Also, the nightstands had not been cleaned off..we wiped them off and it smelled like someone had spilled beer. So we went back downstairs and they asked us to check another […] room. So we did...black hair there also. They eventually "upgraded" us to an executive suite. We only agreed because there were two beds. We checked one and it had hair, but fortunately, the other bed was clean. Also, the sinks did not appear to have been cleaned. One of the two previous rooms also had black hair on the towels and in the sink. The manager on duty did offer that if the executive suite was not to our liking that he would give us our money back and help us find another hotel. That was nice of him. The lobby looked nice and clean. He did offer for us to stop by the next time we were close to see the difference in the condition of the hotel because it had just been bought about a month before our stay. (But we don't live close...hence the hotel room!!!) Also, when we pulled in there were boys on skateboards that the manager was chasing off. Only the room with bed has been updated. Bath and sitting room are very tired, dirty and in need of repair. Only 1 of 6 light bulbs in the overhead light fixture in sitting area. I had no head for the 2 nights I stayed. I was given a 6 inch portable heater to make up for the lack of heat. Towels are like gauze.

Smelled like a smokers heaven. Was planning on staying 5 night, got in super late on night 1 - so we thought it's probably not as bad as it seems right now. Spent most of the next day out and about...got back to the hotel for night 2; and said "we are checking out tomorrow. There has got to be something better." Pictures of this hotel need updated.

I liked the layout of the suites. It had a livingroom area seperated from the bedroom, a kitchenette, and a hallway. But, they asked for a $50.00 deposit upon check in in case we destroyed the room. During our stay we found that the shower curtain was torn and stapled back together, the toilet paper roller fell off the wall, the water to the toilet […] had been turned off due to it running all the time, one of the legs on the desk fell off when I placed my lap top on it, the living room area had not been vaccumed and the bathroom sink and shower had not been cleaned. This is a place I would not recommend to any one. The rooms were dirty. The beds were hard as a boards. There was only one towel in the room, no washcloths the AC\Heater did not work. The desk clerk wiped her nose with her hand twice while holding my credit card. Very disgusting!! To get any of the comforts, you would expect to find in a hotel, was […] almost impossible. Very difficult to find, as GPS gives misleading directions and it is hidden behind a wall. Front desk said this is often a complaint. I did not find the suite to be that cleanly and everything in the suite was outdated and frumpy.

Our room was dank and dirty. Peanuts on the floor, the drapes not hung well, There were no kleenex or cups anywhere in the room. We had to go get a second set of keys because the original ones didn't work. The TV was on a low bench on one side of the bed so only one person could see it. I don't even have the words to nice enough not to be disrespectful! We have stayed at many Hawthorne Suites, this was the 1st one that should be named Hawthorne Stay at Your Own Risk! We reserved 2 rooms and both carpets stained and had a awful odor, Rm 107 tub leaking water constantly & toliet running constantly, the remote didn't work on TV. Rm 111, […] where the carpet meets to the bathroom floor tile was lifting up and I stomped my big toe on the carpet, that TV remote didn't change the TV and the carpet was stained and had odor. The supervisor was unavailable to be contacted the weekend until we got ready to check out Sunday morning 10/07/12. We wanted to talk with supervisor on Saturday morning to see if we can get a refund for Saturday and go check into another hotel but staff said supervisor wasn't returning any of her calls. It is a decent hotel. But nothing I would want to stay in again. Difficult to get to from interstate. Hard bed and couch. It had the necessities but nothing extra. Nothing nice. It was definitely not an upscale hotel. I believe the ranking for this hotel was too high.

First room (204) smelled musty mixed with cigarette smoke (even though it was a non smoking room) and they tried to cover it with some kind of spray, was nauseating. Stains on the carpet, stains on the sofa, chipped walls, holes in wall. AC didn't work. Only thing I was offered, because the manager was "unavailable" until Monday morning, was a change […] of rooms. the 2nd one was better. The smell in this room was still musty with some kind of spray, but it wasn't mixed with the nasty smoke smell, and it wasn't as bad. The AC still didn't work. I couldn't even get it to come on once I tried to change the temp with the remote. AC had been dripping long enough into the picture hanging on the wall below it, that it had mold inside the glass of said picture. Carpets were less stained than the 1st room, but they were still dirty at the baseboards and were ripped at the seams. no door on the closet, old big tube TVs, same alarm clock (old), doors were hard to open, no tissues in tissue holder, dust bunnies and burns on the lamp shades. Pool was green, you could see the algae growing more in the deep end of the pool and there were weird bugs on top of the water. The breakfast was mediocre, some of it being kinda gross even. Milk and juices were in pitchers sitting on counter, not on ice, just sitting there. My little one had gotten milk and he said it tasted bad. Motel had a nice lobby and it goes down hill from there. Although the room was fairly large it was located in a bad part of town. Staff was not very friendly. Room rate was resonable but I was honestly a little worried about my car.

The lobby looked like it was part of a ghost town. The decorations were almost all Christmas themed (this is July). The first thing noticed in the room was a large red stain on the carpet, which looked very dingy/dirty. A very tired place in need of complete renovation. Rooms were not clean and poor room service. Towel hanger was found broken hanging, shower curtain was broken and lying on the floor at the time we moved in. Rooms were not cleaned daily basis. we had to inform them for cleaning. Bad experience!!

It was a good try. The lobby was nice -- old english style. I thought they might have hit it on the head. Then I opened the door to my room. It was very disappointing. The online pictures didn't quite match up to reality. The sofa was FILTHY. A plastic plant in the corner gathered dust and looked like someone just stuck it there for effect -- a BAD […] one at that. The lamp shade had stains all over it. The bathroom was dark and the light over the sink didn't work -- until after about an hour when it popped on. Haunted? The bed was super low and hard. The TVs were from 1990 with bad reception. They should've had 2 remotes but alas, just had one. The room had an odd step-down portion of the room that overlooked the pool. Of course, I could only see bits and pieces of the pool due to the moisture in the double-paned windows. Carpet? Dirty. Curtains? Don't touch 'em. Kitchenette? Uhh, no. A bar sink that I wouldn't have . . . well, you get where I'm headed. Had I been allowed to stay in the lobby, it might've worked. But instead, I was sent to "the back" where only faux plants and uncontrollable TVs get sent. Oh the shame. Good try, though, right? Next time, don't just make the lobby look nice. We have stayed at several Hawthorne Suites over the years and this was the worst experience by far. The decor is very dated, but our biggest concern was the poor customer service and the musty/moldy smell in the room.

My stay was ok. That was about it. I loved the floor plan of the room. It had a feel of apartment. The A/C in the room worked but had a problem getting it colder. The room rate should have been about $10 cheaper. It needed a little updating sofa and chairin the room. The lobby had a nice feel of Mens club. They would not move me to another room without manager approval. Had to change out own bedding. Left the next day due to the room. They informed me (very rudely) that they could not check us out because we had […] "prepaid" through hotels.com. The had to get approval from the manager. I asked her to call when approved. The room has not been updated in many a day. The carpet was filthy filthy filthy. The sink did not drain and the tub dripped all night. We stayed two night so the first night we left a note stating the sink wouldn't drain and the tub was dripping, but it remained the same when we returned. The lobby is nice and well kept. The room was of good size. When we got to the room, there was food on the floor and crumbs on the table. Q-tips in a corner of the room on the floor, and a magazine thrown under a chair. The bathroom floor had urine around the toilet and the ceiling tiles were falling down in the closet. the non smoking rooms were smokey..the staff was inattentive. our room key locked up out each day when we had a longer stay and had to continue to have the card key reset every day. when i went to heat my food in the micro wave, there was a left over pizza in the room. when i asked them not to clean my room, they cleaned it. the phones did not work... […] one time, the hotel staff @ the front said she went out for a smoke. the breakfast (free) was inedible...we had outdoor doors on the ground floor..2 suites, non connecting.. we felt very vulnerable. this area is not safe. I am sure that at some point this was a very nice place to stay, whether it was one day or one month. But that time has long gone by, this motel is in dire need of a re-model, or at the very least a quick refurbish on everything that needs it.

We have 7 in our family so finding a place for all of us is difficult. At one time this place was very nice, but the age of the facility, is really starting to show. This hotel smelt like mold when we first walked in the room so I looked around and you could see the trim around the bottom of the wall was bowing and you could see black mold in it plus the padding under all the carpet was gone a sign of a flooding at one point. It says free wi-fi, but that's only if you're in theron building I was told. The clerk then told me I could just use the computer in the lobby. That kind of defeats the purpose of in room wi fi. I think it would have worked if I gone outside by the hole in the ground that once was a pool.
