The hotel was situated in the downtown area near the train station, but we were not bothered by train whistles or noise. The room was very clean, shower was hot, beds were firm but just right. Little tired but not bad for the price!

We booked this on the morning of our stay with a late night arrival. The booking was ready for us and the hotel was clean, well-lit and comfortable. Overall this was a great experience and I will be staying there again if I happen to need a room in the Bakersfield area.

We booked one night at this hotel as we were just passing through Bakersfield and were pleasantly surprised by our accommodations. The room was clean, attractive and comfortable and hotel is not far from several restaurants. We opted for The Pepper Tree, food from Mexico and central coast wines, and recommend it highly as well. Our one concern was that the building we were in is a ways from the reception area and there was unrestricted access from the side street. We were wanting to break up the drive from San Jose to San Diego. Bakersfield was about half way. this hotel suited our purposes just fine. It was clean and comfortable and safe and the breakfast was good too. The staff was friendly and efficient. I would recommend this place to friends.

The breakfast was not appealing. The eggs were powdered and looked like huge slabs of butter. They came from the kitchen cold. The toaster did not work and the coffee was unbearable. There are places nearby to eat breakfast; patronize those restaurants instead.

First of all, I very much enjoyed my Valentine's stay at this hotel. The best qualities about this hotel is that it is extremely quiet, 90% of the time we were there it felt like we were alone. The rooms with Cali. King beds have a substantial amount of room to walk around around the bed unlike a lot of hotels. The hotel was clean, but not very updated, […] the staff is friendly, the breakfask was too early but very good; the parking lot is way too small, the hotel is open to the street which isn't too great but it is within feet of Mexicali Restaurant and Mill Creek River which is beautiful. The only issue was our room hadn't been cleaned when I walked in but they apologized and cleaned it thoroughly, I was upset at first but one room can be easily overlooked. Would not recommend to others wanting comfort. Torn hallway carpet, cold oatmeal, beds without blankets, cheap breakfast items, useless gym, and rude management all for the same price as a competitors stay. Hotel is really old and heater/ac is really noisy. Wifi is really bad, connection is slow and drops out really frequently. Would only recommend it if you are on a tight budget.

Awesome location, next to train station, just a walk across the street. Function I was attending was also right next door. East access to local sights and shopping. Room was perfect with beautiful sliding glass door and window coverings.

This hotel was definitely not up to par with most Best Westerns. The hotel was in good condition, but the housekeeping was very negligent. There was used soap in the shower, a half bottle of pop by the TV, and urine on the toilet. It was disgusting. Also, the washclothes and towels looked dirty. The rooms were just as nice as the Marriott across the street, but much cheaper. Will stay here the next time I'm in town. Very convenient location.

Only stayed for one night and I was glad. The room was clean but we found it very cold during the night, the heating was too loud to sleep with it on and the bed had very thin covers and no additional blankets available in the room. Priced right, clean and comfortable

Our room had just been newly renevated. It was clean and very quiet. Could see and hear the river right behind our room. Nice little Mexican restaurant direcly behind hotel. Breakfast was the normal fair. Not good, not bad-coffee was hot. Also let us have the dog in the room

It's like a Mote 6, but older. The Hilton Garden Inn on Rosedale is a 3 star hotel and is 5x better. I expected more from a 3 star. Goes to show you can't trust those ratings. The guest ratings are more reliable. The complex is old and not really updated. The key cards hardly worked. I had to change them 3-4 times. The free breakfast included cereal, […] boiled eggs, toast, small muffins, juice, coffee, and a waffle maker, not too bad. The only good thing about this place is that it close to downtown, walking distance to some ok restaurants, and accross the street from Amtrak station. I was expecting a flat screen tv because thats what they had in the hallway, but no we had a 80s tv with no remote. Staff was suppose to bring us a new one which they never did. We called the room service menu & it wasnt even the resterant or food on the menu. Clean but nowhere near any restaurants or facilities. Staff gave minimal information in a terse fashion. I was pleased to leave and won't be back. Breakfast over too early for some travellers, including us. Disappointed that Best Western standards have slipped - this hotel should not have the 'Plus' status

Older, but clean. In the heart of downtown. Nice, clean pool. Amtrak station just across the street.

There were some mechanical problems with the room, but overall a fine experience. The breakfast offered was certainly adequate and the staff was very friendly, will probably stay here again in the future.

Hotel was difficult to find at night but once we were there everything went very smoothly. From check in to check out it was convenient and comfortable.

No deposit or extra charge for a dog. We had a truck with a boat on a trailer. They advised us to move it to the front lot that had cameras even though it took up 5 parking spots. Room had a nice big chair with an ottoman. Certainly not the Ritz but very convenient if you have to stay in Bakersfield. Staff very friendly. Don't have high hopes for the […] breakfast - cereal, waffle and packaged little doughnuts. Everything was very nice except the room was 80 degrees when we arrived late and took forever to cool. The thermostat would only allow 68 degrees as the lowest setting, perhaps the air conditioner itself did not blow as cold of air as necessary to rapidly cool the room. This was our only complaint. Nice to stay in a clean, high quality hotel.

Hotel looks really cute from the outside. Rooms are pretty standard on the inside. No major complaints.

1. no working tv. 2. over the sink ligthing not working 3. carpet dirty, wash your feet and wear socks. 4. bfast cold coffee and week juice 5. when i called to address these items excuses where provided, but no solutions.

This is a nice location next to the Kern River. Clean and well kept. Continental breakfast was the usual... Good part of town.

I have stayed at the Hill House in the past for different occasions, but this time I stayed there because I arrived by train. Normally being across the street from the train station makes me think of noisy nights, but in Bakersfield it means being central to many amenities- the Rabobank Arena, concerts in Central Park, some great antique stores and […] running right through the hotel property is a very handsome and refreshing new burbling riverwalk along Mill Creek. The room was very large, comfortable, well equipped and maintained in excellent condition. The weather was perfect, so I kept the window (which faced the Amtrak station) open all night and it was perfectly quiet. Either the trains don't run at night, or they don't toot their whistles loudly, because I never heard them that night- I was a little disappointed, because I haven't often slept in Bakersfield with the window open and sort of hoped to hear the romantic (to me, at least) whistling of trains in the night. Great value hotel. Good on site restaurant. Swimming pool area clean. Good option in bakersfield if you plan to stop there.

It was nice and quiet.

Ok accommodations but I was put off by the light haired supervisor who first scolded and argued w front desk person, insisting our room was NOT ready when clerk said it was. The supe followed us to our room where several hotel workers were gathered, cleaning nearby rooms. She argued w at least one of them as well. Our room was ready so we ducked inside. […] Unfortunately, it felt like supe was expressing her irritation at the staff of immigrants -- not a comfortable situation. Earlier, used the restroom facility in lobby area -- no TP except in "handicapped" stall and no soap in dispensers. Good paper towel dispenser w actual paper towels -- it worked. The restaurant, Pasta Fazool, seemed empty and did not offer food between lunch and dinner, so we walked across to The Marriott and had their happy hour offerings. Complimentary continental bkfst.: a square shaped lump of cold oatmeal in a round crockpot; mini donuts, 2 small muffins on a tray plus cold cereals and a waffle machine. When my dh tried to get OJ from the machine, out came the staff person who started laughing at us, because she had neglected to turn on the machine and thought that was funny. After the time it took me to eat one of the muffins, she came back out w a bowl of peeled hard boiled eggs. That helped. There was a salt shaker for the eggs. Altho the price of our stay was reasonable, we would not go back to the arguments and cold oatmeal and late offering of OJ and eggs. Lisätietoja

This hotel was very nice. The room was clean and attractive. The breakfast was well stocked and had a good variety of items. The service personnel were attentive to our needs. We would definately recommend this hotel.

This was a nice place to stay however the parking lot was under construction so parking was not the best and the breakfast was lacking, but that is typical for your average continental breakfast. I would recommend this place.

Great and convenient hotel in the center of Bakersfield. Efficient staff, great hotel room, free and well-functioning Wi-Fi. Great Mexican restaurant ("Mexicali") 50 yards away at the back of the property across Kern River. Easy checkout.

Room was decently clean although there was an odd scent due to the air-freshener left in the room. Small fridge, ironing board, and hair dryer available for use. Lovely towels-comfy and very absorbent. Sink is outside the bathroom leaving the possibility to disturb anyone still asleep. Check-in was o.k. Not a very friendly attitude! Seemed like he was just doing his job... Room was on the exterior of the building and was as hot as it was outside (100+). We turned on the A.C. and left for about an hr. to let the room cool. Remote for the TV had no back on it and beer bottles were on the balcony, they must have missed that during cleaning? […] No condiments (i.e. Sugar, creamer etc.) for the coffee maker (Glad I brought my own) Other than that the room itself was ok although not what I'd expect from a Best Western (I've stayed at others that were mush better). The hotel is centrally located if you have business downtown or are going to a program at the civic auditorium. It is quiet.
