"Great staff"
The hotel was standard La Quinta. It was the hotel staff that made my stay! I want to thank Taye, Wally and Janaya for all your help. It was greatly appreciated. "key location"
Behind the bed was actually dirty. The linens (not the dust ruffle) appeared clean and were comfortable. The location was key and the front desk was very friendly and accommodating. Thank you Tasha!
"Close to train station"
The hotel was clean and the staff was very helpful and nice. But it was somewhat run down and in a not so great neighborhood. There were few amenities - soap and shampoo were the only toiletries provided - but there was a coffeemaker. It was close to the train station and close to an event I needed to attend, so it was fine for one night.

"Third stay - Not as nice as last time"
This was my third stay at the hotel. Got a different room on the same floor but the room wasn't as nice as last time, particularly the bathroom. Breakfast area can get overwhelmed in the morning. Standard sleep-in hotel for business trips, cheaper than other New Haven hotels and close to the train station. Used the shuttle to get downtown & this was […] a good amenity. The hotel itself was OK, not great but good. The location to Union Station and Yale, as well as the shuttle service was worth it.

"Pretty Sketchy Area"
Hotel elevator didn't work, view was of a industrial plant, area surrounding hotel is the reason they have a shuttle.. not very safe. Could not rely on shuttle, hard to get a hold of.. ended up taking taxi home every night. Would be OK for strictly business, but wouldn't use this for family or pleasure. Just pay the extra and get a hotel near things.. […] or at least a nicer area. Hotel staff was nice, shuttle driver was nice.. The area is just a little too unsafe for me. "Decent for the money"
Quick trip for a meeting downtown New Haven...Easy access off highway and Quick easy drive to the center of the city. Sits right next door to Ikea and a local dinner theatre. Minor inconvenience was the broken coffee maker, small bathroom and only two working lights in the room. Yet it was a quick stay and served the purpose.

"Close to Train Station. Good for business trips"
I've stayed here twice now, mainly because it is so close to the New Haven train & bus station. Standard breakfast, comfortable rooms. Not in a good location for sightseeing though & no good restaurants nearby. They have a downtown shuttle that I've used twice that was reliable. Overall, a good hotel for a business/conference trip.

Great stay, no issues. Comfortable, clean...what more can you hope for. Check out is at 12 and it was easy. Great thing is Long Wharf Theater is within walking distance.

"Great staff, Great Price, but follow through short"
It is hard to imagine a more friendly and helpful staff. But this property fell seriously short in a couple of areas. The most significant was smoking. With only four designated smoking rooms in an 8 story building, they didn't adequately accommodate those that smoked, with the result that people freely smoked in whatever room they were given. While […] our room itself didn't smell of smoke, there were several no-smoking rooms nearby that had smoke coming out under the door, going down the hall and being sucked into our room because of the bathroom exhaust fan. We complained three times. They apologized and admitted they weren't enforcing the rules. They said they would send some one up to take care of the problem, but nothing improved. Finally the third time, was Sunday night and they had some vacancies and were able to move us to a room on a floor we had determined didn't have a smoke problem. We did smell some cooking odors, but it was much better than the smoke. It appeared that the problems may have been caused by some long term tenants. There were also several minor maintenance issues that we noticed. There just didn't seem to be a lot of followthrough or attention to detail. Over all, this property doesnt live up to the otherwise excellent reputation we have come to associate with the La Quinta name. Without stron assurances that significant changes had occurred, we wouldn't chose it again. It is too bad, because the price was very good, the breakfast was good sthe staff was friendly and helpful, and the on-site restaraunt was quite good. Partially my fault for little for little informatiOn on the city besides things to do. I was scared to leave my hotel and when I did I somehow was around the cOrner of one of America's ghettos. Don't stay here unless you have to !!!!

I stayed at this hotel for a school interview. The room has very thin walls and I got the joy of listening to a baby scream bloody murder for 3 hours one night. This hotel is very close to the 95, which is good and bad. Good in the sense that it is very easy to access....bad because you can hear traffic at night. I am not a light sleeper so that was […] not a problem for me. My room was clean and surprisingly nice for the cost! The breakfast is good, but the staff is amazing! They are very willing to help, and the most courteous hotel staff I have ever dealt with. Beware you are bordering a scary neighborhood so I would not suggest long walks at night, but I found that it was not scary near the hotel. The hotel room was in good shape and very clean minus the fact that a few of the outlets did not work and there was a cigarette burn on the conforter blanket (I was in a smoking room). The room was clean and adequately furnished but the maroon decor in the public areas was dull and depressing. Great value and convenience for anyone visiting Yale or YNHH if you came by car and have access to parking at your daytime destination - didn't investigate if it's on the shuttle route, but you probably would't want to walk to campus. "New haven Terrible hotel"
First night tub was stopped up tooth paste and lots of hair in bathroom. Second night new room. Third night room left open from maid service and no towels. 4 an 5 nights no towels major sewer back up the smell was horrible. 5 night key would night open door. Manger did take one might off bill. The breakfast was good. I will never stay there again.

Convenient location. Included shuttle service takes to/from train station or Hospital of St. Raphael. No complains at all.

I had a positive experience overall. My only issue is with how far it is from downtown New Haven, but that's probably the only reason I was able to find a room here on such a busy weekend.

Minimally challenging to access the hotel initially. Clean, comfortable rooms. They need to improve the quality of the towels and the tissue. Basic continental breakfast. Suited our needs.

Its about what you would expect for the price. It is convenient to the interstate. The room was ok and the breakfast was not bad. The people at the front desk were very friendly.

Had to wait about an hour in the lobby as they had no room ready for us. TV in room broken, couldn't fix it and was offered no alternative, told that not all rooms had TVs anyway, which seems very doubtful. On the plus side, Wayne from the hotel was helpful and gave us some good advice about the area and drove us around.

Excellent location for access to New Haven railway station and a visit to Yale University. Accomodation was excellent: clean, spacious..all good. Staff very friendly. Not a very appealing site, next to the highway and indusrtrial area but this didn't matter at all to us as we were out and about. Excellent value for money.

We were a little anxious about booking a room here after reading some of the reviews however we were very pleasantly surprised. The reception staff were pleasant and helpful with our requests. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. Daily room service was dependable. The free breakfast was comparable with any other motel we have stayed in. We especially […] appreciated the free parking and also the free shuttle service. Overall this was a great place to stay while visiting New Haven on a limited budget. The only negative comment we would make is that the overall decor is a bit shabby and could be updated. One additional heads up is that if you arrive late in the evening(after ten) as we had to with a delayed flight you will have to order food out. "Noisy, sketchy neighborhood; but room was nice."
The windows must've been pretty thin, because through the night, and especially in the morning, the sound of big trucks.. and in the morning, garbage trucks banging and thrashing about unsettled us. The hotel backs up to what looks like an industrial warehouse area with lots of docks for trucks... we had a lovely view of that from our window. But otherwise, […] the room was okay. The desk staff were some of the most pleasant individuals I have dealt with when checking in and out of a hotel. The beds were very comfortable and our non-smoking room truly did not have the odor of smoke.

The LaQuinta in New Haven, CT is a decent place to stay for the price. It is located seconds off I95 and is a good value for the location. The room was fairly clean, needed better vacuuming but not that bad. Linens were clean as well as the bathroom. The bed was comfortable and on the 7th floor, seemed pretty quiet at least till the fire alarm was triggered […] by a water leak from a few days prior. I wish the restaurant was a sports bar type restaurant but that is my personal preference. All in all, I would recommend the accommodations to other people.
