The bathroom was not very clean shower grout was mouldy. Booking was in a Queen Room, on Check-in was allocated a twin room and had to pay to upgrade to Suite as no Queen rooms available. Booking included breakfast but on chheckout had to argue with the reception staff to not pay for breakfast charges.
"What a hidden gem!"
Don't let the location of this hotel put you off, it is a wonderful place to stay. Yes, there can be some street noise but I was staying at the back of the hotel and the comfortable bed and pillows soon had me fast asleep. A warm welcome from both the reception staff and housekeeping and the service during the excellent buffet breakfast was impeccable. […] I can highly recommend eating at the very reasonably priced bar and loved the warm pool. One of the best run hotels I have stayed at in a long time. Excellent hotel! Great Bistro. Would definitely recommend but just so you know it is right in the middle of Adelaide's 'red' light district!!

"Always good - new pool area"
Always a good hotel and great location. The pool and surrounds has been done up at long last and is much better than it was. hotels.com was by far the cheapest website to book on
"Excellent Conceirge"
The hotel was in a great spot and everything was great. The iceing on the cake was the helpful conceirge. He saved us a heap of money telling us the best way to get to places. BRAVO

"Convenient hotel at reasonable price"
Very helpful staff gave me spacious room away from any street noise. Close to my convention and central. Clean room with decent bed. Very pleasant stay with no complaints. Internet could be cheaper though. Thanks to staff.
A number of electrical items did not work including a bedside light and the nearest power point to it. I have never had to pay to put my car in the garage when a guest before!

I feel the cleaning staff need a shake up....The room was fine but the bathroom needs a complete clean.. Mould on the tiles within the shower space was unnecessary...A good clean is needed.
"Great location, but didn't have the room we booked"
We booked and paid for our room 4 months before our stay, and upon checking in instead of giving us the queen we had paid for they gave us a room with two tiny double beds! When we called reception both manager and duty manager told us they were busier than expected and so had no queens left... that's not our problem, they should have saved the queen […] rooms for the customers who booked them first! IE, US! Refused to upgrade us to a higher queen room, even though in essence they had downgraded us to a twin double room. We had to go halves on the upgrade price in the end, and it was a considerably smaller room. Got the feeling that when you pay upfront sometimes hotels don't bother with you anymore, they already have your money! If you are after a hotel in a central location in Adelaide CBD then this is a good pick. Parts of the hotel is quite outdated however and is in need of a new facelift. We got one of the older style rooms and while it was spacious & clean, it needed to be modernised - looked like it was stuck in the 80's. I hear other parts of the hotel (the more expensive […] rooms) are refurbished. I thought however the hotel parking per day at $15 in Adelaide was a bit steep. Hotel is located just minutes walk from Rundle Mall. Plenty of shopping, clubs and bars around, sometimes at night can still hear the music late at night in the room (in our room on the 3rd level at least). This hotel was cheap and very central - the location was perfect. Everything else was ho-hum. The room was dated and both mattresses desparately needed replacing - springs totally gone! The business centre was only open from 9-5 which was inconvenient. There was a computer near the reception desk after hours but someone was on it and having trouble […] with the printer so I didn't get to use it. My partner and I booked in Hotel Grand Chancellor Adelaide on Hindley on our recent visit to Adelaide. I chose it because it’s central location. On arrival, I paid extra $30 for an “upgrade” to newly refurbished level 9. They did an OK job, but still clear residual chemical smells around. The big disappointment came at night time. There are a bunch […] of night clubs nearby. The loud music and club goers’ creams can be heard clearly on level 9 – they forgot soundproofing when doing refurbish!! It actually got louder during the night, all the way to 6am! So we wake up early in the morning feeling like zombies… So if you want to get some reasonable sleep at night, DO NOT go there! Stayed here for 2nights, it is a great location and rooms were big and very clean, bed was amazing we didnt want to leave! Would defo recommend this hotel, only downfall movies in room were $16.95 very expensive!!

We stayed at the Grand Chancellor for 2 nights for the Socceroos vs. NZ game at Adelaide Oval and the hotels proximity to the stadium and other Adelaide hot spots is great and within walking distance. However, the rooms leave something to be desired as the decor is quite outdated especially the bathrooms which I thought need urgent improving.

no view at all, all you can see is the roof of the second floor,with its air conditionning unites etc. never again im staying there. even if its free. for another few dollars i could have booked an executive suite at hilton.ive staid over 50 hotels this is my second last worse hotel in the WORLD..

The location of this hotel makes it the noisiest hotel I have ever experienced. We (unfortunately) stayed 3 nights and suffered loud music and street noise until early morning each day. We left tired and exhausted from lack of sleep. Changing room from the back of the Hotel to the front made no difference. Lovely, spacious Hotel where we had an outer corner room on the 8th floor with panoramic windows and a great view over the City. Several cafes nearby in Hindley Street where you could get a good breakfast at a reasonable price but early booking of the Hotel gave very good value.

Was there for Tour Down Under 2011. fantastically close to railway station (historical building) and 24hrs pancakes. pretty close to randall st. the main shopping drag. and no issues whatsoever with cyclists bring their bikes into the hotel. The room is pretty massive, something I haven't seen for a while. Probably because it was built in an earlier […] era which I like. the classic feel of things. 80's? some noice emanating into the room from party goers on saturday night, something expected being that close to CBD. Which I later discovered could be due to the fact that the window was slighlty ajar. gym was standard. 1 equipment per type pool was under renovations atm but it sits on lvl 2 and is outdoors. You won't get any views though. buildings surrounds the hotel all around unless you are on top few floors? We woke up to no power / Telecommunication. Had to walk down the stairs to check out. And there was no effort made to communicate the situation nor an apology for the inconvenience.

Excellent Location - hotel is only 300m from the main shopping street (Rundle Mall) with lots of food places nearby. We got a good rate for the suite - paid 2 nights and had the 3rd night free. Whilst the furnishing is a little dated (a refurbishment will be great!), the room was spacious. Both the living area and bedroom had big LCD TVs. Hotel is right in the middle of the nightlife, good walking distance but a little dicey in the evenings.
