Royal Bath Hotel Bournemouth - Bournemouth

Paid an upgrade to get a sea view room at the back as the rooms at the front are subject to traffic noise. Room was excellent with sea view, balcony and Bose docking station for I Phone/I Pod.Only gripe was that I was charged £11 for a large glass of wine !!!

Hotel was lovely - really enjoyed it - staff great and excellent service. Really close to the beach and shops. Would recommend.

Hotel itself was top notch. On site parking is very expensive and the adjacent public car park is £12.50 0vernight. I managed to park for free with a 1/2 mile walk up the hill on the cliff road. My biggest disappointment was the room it self, I had the feeling that as I had a good deal I was given "the pokey room at the end of the corridor". This room […] was small, dull and window looked onto a wall which was 6 foot from the window. My TV seemed to have a feed from the nearby gym, the channels were limited to Sky news and Sky Sports only (the beer glass at the bottom right of the screen probably meant the was a none standard feed). Hotel is in a good location for the tow, the beach and the BIC. Room was small but perfectly formed. Bed was comfortable, bathroom a good size with a decent shower. In the main room, the radiator was on and could not be turned off or down, which was inefficient if not uncomfortable. Room had a large TV with freeview channels. Staff were polite and helpful. […] Parking is not included and is a little expensive nearby, so bear that in mind when budgeting if staying for more than a couple of nights. Unfortunatel the room was extremely hot and all the floor boards on the floor above were loose so you could hear people walking around from 6am so I found it difficult to sleep. Pillows were very poor so I needed four to actually get comfortable.

An excellent period hotel with attentive staff large rooms. Public areas are large an airy. We upgraded to a sea view room on arrival used the on site parking. Negatives. The decor, whilst good, could be updated slightly. Hotel has the most "musical" flooring with the floorboards creeking whereever you walk. This is in keeping with the age of the hotel […] though. Drinks costs were high as was the parking. Positives. The staff were polite and attentive from reception to the chambermaids? The rooms were spotlessly clean and spacious. Breakfasts were really tasty with a good choice. The location is excellent for walking into town, the pier and beaches area and onto West Cliff. we had a nice stay but the hotel is very dated and really could use a good clean,i had hair on the sugar bowl given me by waiter.breakfast superb! fruit bowl left in room was going off.

Hotel is shabby with no chic. In need of complete renovation.You would be better off staying at a Travel Lodge. It was so bad we checked out after 1 hour. Hotels.com were fantastic

while the hotel is very clean, convenient and supplies a nice breakfast and the staff are nice too, we had a bad night's sleep. The bed was barely even a double, small and cramped, worse than that it had a huge dip in the middle of it so we fell into the centre of it and it was like trying to climb a wall to get out of the hole. the room so hot even […] though it was winter and a bit small, and bathroom had no extractor fan.The spa was full of kids, and as soon as we got in the jacuzzi the staff decided to turn it off to "give it a rest" so we sat there with it off. 1 of the 2 showers were broken in the spa, and half the seats in the steam room were cracked. its a nice looking place, but does need some TLC to bring it back to standard. if you are small, or can afford a room upgrade, and need something clean and convenient, i guess its would suit you. its not terrible, but we felt there were better hotels for the same price. Been back to Royal Bath several times and just love the (dated) elegance. Like 'old money' wealth the hotel has a classic feel all rooms seem pretty good though it is worth booking a Seaview.. Happy to recommend. Car Parking is £20 per day and local car parks £15 so not much advantage parking on the street which I expect is pretty difficult in Summer. As a business traveller there is only one thing that would stop me from staying here again £20 per night to park your car and this was in Feb so not exactly high season. Shame as hotel was lovely.

Could not fault the Royal Bath on our short stay for the price paid. The best I have stopped in Bournemouth.

We stayed at the Royal Bath New Years Eve with my parents staying in the room new door. The rooms are clean but clearly dated and the ensuites from the 1980s not what you would expect for this calibre of hotel. I was awoken on New Years Day with a knocking sound on the walls not what you need after New Years Eve. It started at 8am and finished at 9.30am! […] Little did I know that it had kept my girlfriend up for 3 hours in the night and also my father could sleep due to this he could also hear it. I have never complained at a hotel in my life but it was like some kind of torture a knock ever second!. On complaining to the reception they identified the problem straight away as water pipes in the wall. Well if this is the case then why let anybody stay in these rooms if there is an issue they quite clearly know about. To be fair to the operation manager kindly upgraded my parents to another room with see view and free bottle of wine. We had to check out that day so all we got was an apology even though they knew from the outset there was a problem with rooms 375 & 376. Other than that hotel staff friendly, facilities good, but decor dated, very good location though hope this helps Steve Lisätietoja

Location of this hotel is fantastic, right next to the beach with amazing views. Lovely hotel with lots of charm. Room was very spacious and comfortable unfortunately a little dated but spotlessly clean. Breakfast served in a lovely room overlooking the garden, lots of variety and something for everyone.

We booked this hotel because we wanted to go to a concert at the Pavilion, and were fortunate to get a half price deal on Bed and Breakfast. On arrival, our friends were allocated their room, which was on the third floor. No-one told them that the lift was out of order and they had to struggle up many flights of stairs to get to their room. No porter […] was around. Our room was not ready, although it was well past 3pm. Eventually, after checking that the maid was not in the room, we were told that it was policy for rooms to be inspected first. We eventually were given the card key. The breakfasts were good, and staff attentive. Down side was the price of a drink - £11 for a glass of wine! Also we had a fire alarm at 5.45am on the Saturday morning, when most of us were fast asleep, not having got to sleep very early as it was a noisy Friday evening. So lots of pro's and cons, but we enjoyed the good weather, although the room was very warm, even though the radiator was not on. Lisätietoja

Hotel was lovely, proper english seaside hotel with old school class. Room was just perfect with an amazing view and the breakfast spread was superb. HOWEVER, the seemingly obligatory car 'jockey' service was an extortionate £20 - with no advanced warning of the cost. The service given was extremely poor, took ages. One of the best breakfasts and stays we have had for a long while. The hotel were very professional and helpful throughout our stay with our 1-year old daughter. We were particularly pleased to get a free upgrade to a garden suite that was both large and quiet - - 4 stars for sure from us!

We made a late booking for a standard double room with breakfast when we found out our daughter's graduation ceremony at the BIC was in the morning. The room was clean, large, airy, bright & comfortably equipped. We were unable to get the MP3 player to work so after a word with reception it was replaced. In common with many hotels it was too warm for […] our taste and the heating controls were had insufficient adjustment, so had to open a window. Breakfast was a comprehensive help yourself buffet. Parking is available in the car park adjacent to the property at a lower rate than the hotel car park. Excellent central location with an easy walk to BIC, bars & shopping centre. I use the Royal Bath every time I work in Bournemouth. Used it this time to combine work with leisure and it was just what the doctor ordered. The staff are all excellent and still understand the meaning of service and making people feel relaxed. Excellent service at breakfast. Lovely receptionist - very professional

Excellent breakfast, rooms good but a bit tired, could save apace with flat screen tvs, had to be moved at 10.30pm as noise from disco was not acceptable, parking very limited and no agreement with council car parks nearby - very inconvenient and caused lots of people to be hanging around in the small reception in the morning waiting for cars to be […] brought from other places around town. the hotel it,s self is a old style luxury hotel who,s staff are there to make you stay as easy and comftable as they could . sadly the rooms could do some updateing there was not cable or wifi availble in the room and the plugs looked like had seen better days but overall a plesent

We found the hotel both relaxing and calm environment. The staff were pleasant and helpful. The service was good and the breakfast was excellent. There are areas of this hotel that need upgrading e.g. decor and fittings, to bring it back to its former 5* rating instead of its current 3/4* status. Whilst a very comforatble hotel where the staff are extremely attentitive and friendly it does live somewhat live on "past glories". The hotel could do maybe with an update in respect of decor and lounge music to bring it into the 21st Century. Te he hotel is located at probably the most congested road junction in the town. The hotel reception staff werexcellent handling the car parking, luggage and reception aspects very well. The hotel layout directions to the room were bad. The room was not ready so we had to wait before being admitted. The reception and restaurant were in excellent condition; […] the garden was looking in "end of season" condition. The bar was not properly manned for a very hot afternoon. The room had been adequately revamped fairly recently, but the condition of the room door, and the door locking mechanism was bad and very frustrating when trying to enter the room. The balcony size was not adequate for 2 people to stand on. The balcony doors were in very poor condition and open to the air at the top and bottom; in need of a complete replacement. On arrival i was told we had a complimentary upgrade due to availbility. however, what it was an upgrade from i dread to think!! Shockingly dated 80's decor , tarnished mirrors sockets etc, ceiling falling down, leaky toilet. There were matresses at bottom of fir escape which is a scarey breach of health and safety. This is a lovely old hotel with great gardens set on a clifftop next to the see. The hotel is right next to all that Bournemouth has to offer. The only slight downside is the slow service in the bar and the complete lack of service in the spa cafe but everyone was still very friendly.

Not stayed since the hotel was a 5 star. Now a 4 star and noted so lower standards, but still a nice hotel. breakfast is first class with plenty of choice. very helpful staff.

Staff are absolutely attentive and outstanding, but the owners are treating this hotel as a cash cow. No real maintenance is apparent, dated rooms, moldy smells make the experience trying. Couldn't open window, no fans available--hot, hot, hot, with no circulation and musty smells. 2.5* - 3* at best.

The hotel is very dated, stuck in an 80's timewarp. The bathrooms have been recently re-done, so acceptable. The room is clean and the bed comfortable but the decor in both the rooms and the hotel is very dated.

I had to move rooms 4 times, and even then the bedding still had human hair and what looked like small bugs. I then had the linen changed whilst I was in the room another 3 times before I had a clean bed to sleep in. Also the facilities such as sauna and steam room were not working. Overall I wouldn't recommend this hotel.

My husband and I stayed at the hotel for two nights. Check in was very quick but I did ask for an upgrade which we where given at a discounted price. The double sea view room was very comfortable but very hot during the night. The TV set was not working and although I called for maintance to check the set we where told that the overall signal of all […] TV sets was damaged and waiting to be fixed. For a four star hotel I would have expected at least a modern TV screen. The bathroom was clean but the shower was awful as water drippped out of it! Making it difficult to shower The hot water was so hot it took a long while to get the temperture correct each time we showered. The cold water taps in the bathroom room also ran very hot water when first turned on! Location was great just by the beach and walking distance to the town centre. We would stay there again but only in the executive rooms as the double standard rooms looks so basic and very dated, I took a peek as we walked passed as house keeping was cleaning one of the standard double rooms. Need clear sign posting to the rooms as we and other guests got lost looking for our rooms after checking in. Parking is very expensive but useful valet parking which is handy as the hotel sits on a main road. We used the hotel spa, needs up grading. The steam room had a very odd sweage smell. Lisätietoja

Lovely gardens, lovely position. Decent gym and pool. Our room was not that big and the bathroom pretty poey, but other than that it was nice and comfortable, with french windows on to the garden. The sea is a short walk away. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and particularly appreciated the Sunday live jazz in the garden.

A lovely hotel in a fantastic location in Bournemouth. The room was lovely with a balcony and extensive views across the gardens and to the beach and the sea. Excellent gym facilities and a brilliant breakfast buffet. Only minor issues were, 3pm check in is rather late and even then the room wasn't available until 4pm. The Hotel is of grand design being Edwardian and is easy to find if driving. The staff were very friendly and always asking if they could do anything for us. Great touch. Rooms were excelent and the breakfast was fantastic - did not need lunch after having such a full meal. Great position for seeing the area by foot and it is right on the coastal path […] which goes for miles in each direction. Only problem was we wished to eat in on our first night and there was a dinner for 250 in the main restuarant so we were told that Oscars was fully booked as this was only small. However, the hotel took over the small lounge and bar and laid up about 12 tables for evening meals so we were offered one of these tables. Superb. Only concern was when we drove up, the hotel offered to park our car for us in the hotel car park - this cost £20 per 24hour period. Moved our car on the second day as we went out and upon return parked it on the coastal road for free. Paid £2 for a ticket at 9am for 4 hours. Overall a great long weekend. Lisätietoja

This hotel is perfect for someone who enjoys a bit of classics as the interior is a bit dated. The swimming facilities are nice and so is the staff. Breakfast was of good quality so it was worth paying a bit extra to have it. Using keys is a bit difficult, make sure you put your key in swiftly and take it out, otherwise it won't open-I had to call for […] help. Lovely place to stay. Although my first bedroom was far too warm - (facing the Road - lots of sun warmth) I was relocated to a cooler room upon request. Staff very helpful. Food great! Only criticism is the creaky floor boards which woke me up from the room above, early each morning. other than that - a superb hotel.
