"This hotel is right in the middle of all of it"
They were doing some repair work on the room below us. We could hear the workmen talking, listen to their music and could see them moving around through the floor boards! "Overpriced"
This hotel is not up to the standards of a hotel in this price range. Our room looked dirty however it paint slopped all over the floor. Every bit of tile grout had stains and the caulking cracked and stained. In anoughter room in our party there was not a drop of hot water. The staff were nice and moved them to a room with hot water. "Fabulous Boutique Inn"
We loved this inn! The Vendue Inn is in a fabulous location to all sites in and around the French Quarter. You can walk to the waterfront park, historic sites, shopping and restaurants with no problem! Oh, or you can use a hotel touring bikes for free! Our room was upgraded for free to a regular king and found it to be quite comfortable with Southern […] charm. We were on the back side so there was no noise to keep us up and we never found the walls to be thin. We slept great and I am a very light sleeper! The bathroom is not as modern as newer hotels but it is a boutique inn so lower your expectations if you think you are going to get a huge bathroom. But all amenities and towels were plentiful, nice and clean. Let me mention the beds - they are without a doubt the most comfortable beds we have ever slept on, even topping a high end luxury hotel. I would stay there again just for the great night's sleep! The staff were attentive and very friendly and available 24 hrs./day if you needed anything. A full free and delicious southern breakfast greets you each morning, a lovely wine and food reception in the afternoon and fresh baked cookies and milk at bedtime what else could you possibly want?! One last mention to the rooftop bar with a nice view of the city. The bar gets crowded as there is live music in the evenings so get there early. We were there over St. Patrick's Day weekend and the town was hopping from one end to the other but it was fun, safe and in the end a great trip to the Vendue Inn. The Vendue staff was just fantastic, taking care of your every need and the some. Great breakfast, great location (near a public pier on the water). The room was a bit small, but comfortable. We stayed at the Vendue Inn in Charleston, S.C. It is a charming older inn with lots of antiques, oil paintings, and wonderful feather beds. There was a problem with our standard king bed room after two days and we were moved to a suite, with fireplace, and lots of room. Walked right off the cruise ship to hotel. Walked to all area attractions from hotel. Very friendly staff. Nice opportunity to meet other guests staying in hotel- sort of like a bed and breakfast but with more privacy. Complimentary cooked to order breakfast a plus!!!!!
Staff was wonderful. Had room on third floor - unfortunately heard music from bar late into night. Wallpaper in bathroom needs updating/repair. Enjoyed breakfast and evening reception. Great location to DAR market (which has undergone wonderful renovation).

Did I mention this hotel has a great location? Only steps away from the best restaurants and shops in the historic district, without being right in the middle of the market st.crowds. Room was still very nice, but a little cramped, and view of the power station next door. The walls must be very thin as we could hear everything, from plumbing to conversations. The rooftop bar with live music was a disappointment from weak, expensive drinks and smoking allowed. We stayed in a standard king and were extremely satisfied from the time arrived until the time we drove off! The staff is very helpful, particularly a gentleman at the front desk by the name of Nathan. They all seemed to know the area well and were able to help with planning extra activities. "Great Service orientated hotel"
Beautiful facility and great service. Our tv did not work properly the first night so they upgraded us to a suite. Very nice rooms. Cooked to order breakfast and a very nice wine and cheese recption every day at 4. I will go back

Fantastic! Service was wonderful! Bed was to die for! Room was tiny but cozy. Breakfast was fantastic, and the wine reception was so much fun! We will stay here next time we visit!

What a luxury! Location is great - right in the city- but that has drawbacks. Parking was a block away. Service was fantastic. Room was superb! Breakfast was delicious. Wish weather had been better because we wanted to use the free bicycles!!! Overall, it is WELL WORTH the price.

The lobby interior and rooms are in desperate need of updating. Our very tiny room had furniture that was severly scratched, the ceiling had water marks and the bathroom was small, had poor drainage and immediately needs repainting. The Inn is in the perfect location downtown and right across from Waterfront Park. The staff is extremely friendly. The room is small, but we rarely spend time in the room. "Vendue Inn in September"
My wife and I stayed in a Kingbed Junior Suite in the Vendue Inn in early September 2011 for four nights. We had a great stay for a number of reasons. The hotel location is ideal for visiting Charleston's historic area. Located in the "French Quarter", the free tourist trolley stops less than half a block from the hotel. We also were able to walk throughout […] Charleston easily; the area appears safe and is well-travelled by pedestrians even late at night. A beautiful "Waterfront Park" is less than a block away and numerous restaurants are close by. The hotel's rooftop bar was a great place to unwind, observe the city, and have a few drinks and appetizers. The amount charged was very reasonable and includes cooked breakfast at the hotel's restaurant. All staff we encountered were friendly and accomodating. The room itself, which was across the street from the main hotel in the Vendue Suites building, did not have a window but it did have a skylight. We considered changing out of the room for another at check-in but decided to stay since we knew we would not be spending a great deal of time in the room. In hindsight, we probably woul have enjoyed a room with a window, evne if the room size and bed were smaller. If one has any claustrophobia, even though the room was large the lack of a window may be problematic so check when booking. Coffee and tea were served each morning if one opted to skip the breakfast, and the evening cookies and wine reception were also a plus. The hotel does go out of its way to make stays there comfortable. All in all, a great place to stay when visiting Charleston. Lisätietoja
Hotel looks lovely on the surface. The first room we were given was not like anything you see in the pictures. It was awful. They gave us a new room right away though. However, this one the ceiling was rotting away right above the bed. Also, my husband was up half the night because you can hear every footstep and voice in another room. They also added […] a fifty dollar hold on my credit card that was there for three days. They asked for my credit card since the room was prepaid in the event of extra charges. "30th Anniversary"
We stayed at the Vendue Sept 5-8 and had a wonderful stay. I was not excited about having the first room without a window, but the bath had be updated and was good. On Tuesday, when the Direct TV went out in our building we were moved to a suite with windows, which was great, but the suite had not been updated. It was still very nice and very romantic. […] The breakfast was delish every day, the chefs specials were the best, however the Bananas Foster French Toast is not to be missed. The Roof Top Bar is a nice view. The reception was nice, but the same wines and food each day. Would have been nice to have had something different each day. We missed the cookies, just forgot about them each night. One thing I would highly recommend is the hotel put in a guest washer/dryer. The weather in Charleston is unpredictable and we were caught in a thunderstorm without an umbrella so we were soaked to the max. I asked for a guest dryer and was told that we could send out for dry cleaning. I am talking shorts and t-shirts, not dry cleaning. However, the hotel has an umbrella in each room, we just didn't take it with us. Overall, I thought the hotel was great and will definately stay there again. "Overall- good experience, room could use some work"
Vendue Inn in Charleston-Upon arrival, the hotel staff was friendly & helpful. We booked a queen room 2 weeks in advance on Labor Day so I knew our room would'nt be the best they had with such short notice. They put us in a room across the street from the main hotel. As I thought it would be, the room was small but my wife liked the decor. The bed was […] very comfortable and one side of the entire room was brick with hardwood floors throughout. The room was too narrow to put a night stand on both sides of the bed, so I got stuck on the side with nowhere to sit a drink or the remote. The hardwood floors were nice, but not a good idea in the bathroom. The wood moulding around the bottom of the showertub and the adjacent door casing was beginning to rot. The bathroom was nice, granite countertops, jacuzzi tub, frameless glass shower doors, but the shower temp. was extremely hard to adjust-luke warm to scalding. The walls were also thin as we could hear the conversations of our neighbors very plainly. The staff was great. We loved the hot breakfast, the managers reception, the cookies & milk, and the turn down service. My sister, daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Vendue Inn. We actually had to extend it due to the Hurricane back home, and they accomodated us without any problem. The Hotel is quaint, but very comfortable and right down town, near everything, especially the fountains right down the block and the harbor. "Romantic anniversary stay in Charleston"
We stayed at the Vendue in to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary. It was a wonderful stay. Room was romantic, staff were friendly and accomodating, breakfast was good and convenient. Cookies and milk in the evening made us want to head back to the hotel early! This is a wonderful place to stay if you don't want to have to drive.
