Fairmont Chateau Laurier - Ottawa

The hotel has a nice location, in the middle of the city. However, there were some noise in the surroundings, and the room could need some refurbishment.

Overall it was pretty awesome!

This hotel is in a very good location and close to everything! The rooms were very spacious and beds were very comfortable. Bathroooms were very clean. Staff was very helpful when we had questions and they were very nice. I would stay here again!

What a wonderful stay at this elegant, handily located hotel! The staff were gracious and accomodating and the room was comfortable. great place for a celebration!

We liked all the history embodied in the hotel and the convenience of being close to many attractions in Ottawa. We could walk to many places and the view was wonderful. The hotel was also updated very well and maintained well. We had a lovely stay.

The hotel has the best location in Ottawa. It was in walking distance of all of the events at the Winterlude. The staff was exceptionally friendly and accommodating.

Great location,right downtown Ottawa. The hotel restaurant was pleasantly surprising; we did not expect such gastronomy, everything we ordered was delicious. The next morning buffet was also excellent.

Elegant but over priced for the accommodations..room was smaller than most. Sundries in the room were very high in cost.. Big bottle of water was $9.00. Zoe's restaurant was again nice but service was extremely slow...20 minutes to get a drink served. The room was an hour late. Wasn't able to access til 4:00pm. Overall not that impressed...

You have to go see Jimmy in the dining room for breakfast or superb brunch. The service and treatment by staff is why you want to be at the Chateau Laurier.

Excellent Hotel. A 'proper' hotel. Only downside is that the bathroom was a little small... but it's an old hotel. Great location too.

Our experience at the Fairmont Chateau Laurier in Ottawa was not at all what we expected from Fairmont. Our room was dusty and old, on the last morning in the room, i caught a bug walking on me. The food was expensive and made me sick. The front desk was always packed with people and required between 15 and 20 minutes of waiting to talk to anyone. The […] parking card never worked except for the 1st time. We were supposed to go to the Fairmont in Quebec City for New Years with familly and cancelled because of our experience in Ottawa. Very poor. On top of the fact that i got sick from the hotel food, they charged me 65 bucks for it. I've been to communist Russia and had better food and service. Very dissapointed. Lisätietoja

I know hotel well and it is first class. However, the room offered through Hotels.com was dowdy and old. Obviouslt the reason for the cheaper rate. Book through the hotel directly next time and enjoy what this hotel truly has to offer.

We took a small room for one night, but were made to feel welcome in an old, awesome hotel. The Chateau is a classic, old but not dated, grand in a way that newer hotels can only faintly immitate. We're glad we took the Chateau.

The staff extremely courteous from the Front Door Man who gave us directions to the lady at the Front Desk who gave us our room. The room with a Rideau street view was very clean, pretty. and romantic. (the view was nice too) Very quiet, elegant and sophisticated. The next time we stay we will Definitely try the Restaurant and Lounge!

We knew we were in trouble as soon as we got to our coffin at 627, oopps I mean room. Our hopes for a parliamentary view were soon dashed as we looked out our "window" onto the hotel lower roof/inner courtyard. A call to the front desk was fruitless. Things went from bad to worse when we realized the plumbing was backed up in the shower as it wouldn't […] drain properly. Nothing worse than standing in used shower water up to your ankles. When we turned the taps on the sink it sounded like a jack hammer. Food prices are beyond unreasonable. But aside from all of that the location is handy. The hotel had two opportunities to satisfy their customers but failed miserably. In talking to other staff we learned the hotel was not near capacity and further evidence of this was the few papers left out front of the hotel rooms by six AM. This left us wondering if Fairmont Hotels gives hotels.ca the junk rooms that they wouldn't rent to regular customers...kind of like the cheap pillar seats at a sports game. Will not go back. This is a wonderful hotel in the centre of ottawa. The ambience and charm is unquestionably chic but it has it's downside. We booked through this website and had a fantastic deal. We then wanted to extend for one day and were charged three times what we were paying as the daily rate. They even gave us two different rates: one when we extended and another […] at check-out time. Loved our brief stay there. Beautiful room, lovely view of the Parliament buildings, typical excellent Fairmont furnishing, cleanliness and service. Used the fitness center - nicely laid out, has all one needs for an on the road workout. Can't beat the location - easy to walk 1/2 block to the market for some great food.

great location by the market & canal excellant service, good value for historic hotel

We spent a weekend night at the Chateau Laurier and chose a king room with a wonderful view of the Parliment and Rideau Canal Locks. Hotel is convenient to Parliment, National Art Gallery and Byward Market neighborhood with it excellent choice of restaurants. yes, the hotel is a lovely landmark. yes, the lobby and building are gorgeous. but you don't SLEEP or STAY in the lobby or the building. you are confined to your room, which DOES NOT have air conditioning or sound proofing. we were there for four days during a heat wave and could not sleep. the hotel staff gave us a fan! it helped a little. the engineer […] was frank and told us there was nothing he could do. the last night brought a party in the room next door. i called the front desk twice, about 45 minutes apart. no results. upon check out, i was told the noise was in the hall, not the room. I WAS IN THE HALL. THERE WAS NO ONE IN THE HALL. my husband got up and dressed in the middle of the night to knock on the door and ask them to be quiet. no dice. the response from the neighbors was , "don't worry, we're leaving soon." Hotel.ca should be aware that The Chateau DOES NOT take any bookings for July 1st and there is a very good reason. Every year the hotel is cordoned off( as in barricades up). The barriers are up until after the fireworks after 10 pm. The taxis cannot even get through. In order to check in we had to get people to help us get our suitcases under the barricades […] and climb over the two sets of barricades. The hotel staff were surprised to see us get through. This is a first-class hotel that has everything...convenience, service, excellent dining. We look forward to our next stay.

I've stayed here in the past and been pleased. This time, the hotel seemed extremely overpriced. Although I asked for a quiet room, it was also dim and rather dingy. Could have spent the same amount and stayed at a luxury hotel.

It really is a classic Canadian Hotel steeped in history. Enjoyed being a tourist. Only drawback is the panhanders in the Market Area. The city really should do something about this.

My daughter and I were visiting the University - wonderful location, excellent service and our dinner was fabulous!

The hotel is absolutely beautiful-looks like a castle! Lots of history and architecture to roam around and see. Room was small and cozy and had wireless and wired connection (make sure to sign up for the president's club points to get it free!)
