Olimme hotellin asiakkaina maaliskuussa 2012 1,5 viikkoa. Hotellissa tehtiin tuolloin pientä pintaremonttia, joka ei kuitenkaan haitannut asumistamme ollenkaan. Lastenallas ja tenniskenttä olivat pois käytöstä, ovia ja ulkoalueita maalattiin, eivät haitanneet menoa. Aamupala sisältyi hotellin hintaan ja aamiaisaika oli 8-11, joskus ovet avattiin myöhemmin (eräänä aamuna 9.05), mutta aamupala oli runsas ja syötävää. Huone oli siisti, joka päivä huone oli päiväsaikaan siivottu. Parveketta huoneessamme ei ollut, en tiedä oliko oikeastaan kenelläkään joilla oli merinäköala huoneesta? Yhtenä iltana pikkukeittiömme lattialla oli 3 torakkaa, muuten saimme olla rauhassa ötököiltä. Hissejä oli kolme (hotellissa oli yli 10 kerrosta) ja hissit olivat kovassa käytössä, ja siksipä ehkä melko hitaat. Allasalue oli siisti (paitsi yhtenä päivänä kun pari poikaa kantoi aamupalansa altaalle eivätkä korjanneet roskiaan pois...) Allasalueelta pääsi rannalle, mutta portti oli lukossa ja takaisin hotellialueelle pääsy oli siitä kiinni oliko allasalueella joku ystävällinen joka avasi portin. Allasalueella oli myös baari, josta sai juotavaa ja pientä purtavaakin päivisin. Hotellin alakerrassa oli pari pikkukauppaa, ja hinnat tietysti sen mukaiset. Seuraavaksi lähimpiin kauppoihin oli jonkin verran kävelymatkaa, bussilla tosin pääsi helposti ja halvalla mm. South Beachille ja toiseen suuntaan ostarille (Aventura Mall) ja halvempiin päivittäistavarakauppoihin. Alueella on paljon espanjankielisiä, mutta pärjäsimme myös englannin kielellä. Hotellissa oli ympärivuorokautinen vartijapäivystys. Auton sai vuokrattua hotellilla sijaitsevasta autonvuokraamosta. Ajo Miamissa oli melko vauhdikkaan näköistä, joten me tyydyimme ajelemaan bussilla edestakaisin :) Alakerrasta löytyi tourist-info, joka järjesti asiakkaita erilaisille retkille, halvemmalla kuin varsinaiset tour-paikat. Erittäin nuhjuinen huone, joka oli liitetty talon yhteiseen ja erittäin äänekkääseen ilmastointiin. Respan palvelu oli vaikeaa eikä henkilökunta tahtonut puhua aina englantia. "San Juan Hotel 1680 Collins Ave"
Loistava sijainti. Perushotelli, kelpaa, jos ei halua luksusta. Huoneissa "oma haju", joka tarttui kaikiin vaatteisiin. Palvelu asiallista ja ystävällistä! Pari yötä oli ok.
"Sijainti erinomainen, hotellin kunto välttävä"
Hotelli oli sijainniltaan erinomaisessa paikassa aivan Miami South Beachin vieressä, n. 100 metrin päässä keskellä menoa ja vilskettä. Hotellista on esimerkiksi lenkkeilijälle hyvät ulkoilumahdollisuudet beachia kiertävällä boardwalkilla. Koska hotelli on lähellä rantaa, se on ympäristöltään "turistirysä" eli kaikki on suhteellisen kallista. Itse hotelli […] oli turvallisen tuntuinen paikka, mutta hotellin käytävät ja huoneet ovat vain välttävässä kunnossa. Hotellihuoneeseen kuuluu ja tuntuu kaikki äänet käytäviltä, tosin öisin oli rauhallista, joten nukkua sai hyvin. Lattioiden kuntoa kuvaa hyvin se, että kun istut wc:ssä, tunnet lattian liikkuvan, kun joku kävelee seinän takana käytävällä. Sängyt olivat kuitenkin mukavat ja puhtaat, ötököitä ei huoneessa näkynyt. Ollessamme hotellissa, sitä remontoitiin, tosin siitä oli maininta hotellin sivuilla. Remonttimiehet työskentelivät päivisin ja näyttivät ainakin vaihtavan huoneiden ovet sekä asentavan vanhojen pienten putki-tv:iden tilalle isommat lcd-tv:t. Hotellissa on siisti uima-allas takapihalla, sekä hotellin asiakkaita varten pyykinpesu ja -kuivausmahdollisuus pientä maksua varten. Sijainniltaan erinomaisella hotellilla on sama ongelma kuin muillakin lähialueen hotelleilla, eli parkkipaikkoja on vaikea löytää. Hotellin henkilökunta osaa neuvoa läheisille parkkipaikoille, tarjolla on myös hotellin vallet-parkkeeraus. Hotellin takana oli kunnallinen valvottu parkkeeraus, josta sai autopaikan parillakymmenellä dollarilla per vuorokausi. Tämä hotelli sopii hyvin asukkaalle, jolle hotellin huoneen kunto ei ole pääasia, vaan sijainti. Sijainniltaan siis loistava, keskellä menoa ja vilskettä, mutta parkkeeraukseen tulee varata lisää rahaa ja huoneen kunnolta ei kannata odottaa liikoja. Lisätietoja

Good choice for budget travelers. The rooms are worn out except for the wash room which had been recently renovated. There's a definite cheap feel to this hotel, but the atmosphere is somehow authentically relaxed and nice. No breakfast is included, which is a bit of a shame.
Sijainti loistava, sekä muutenkin hinta-laatu suhteelta todella hyvä valinta. Äänieristys hieman huono, mutta ei mitenkään oleelisesti kuitenkaan haitannut. Henkilökunta erittäin ystävällistä. The location is excellent and the bathroom was recently renovated. The only bad thing to say was the thin walls. That´s why we always woke up at the same time with neighbours.

San Juan Hotel on todella hyvällä paikalla sadan metrin päässä rannasta ja Lincoln Roadin kauppakadun vieressä. Ocean Drivelle on muutaman korttelin matka. Paikallisbussit kulkevat kätevästi hotellin edestä, joten liikkuminen kaupungissa on helppoa. Mikäli vuokraat auton, 16th streetillä on kunnallinen parkkitalo, jossa vuorokausihintana $16. Itse […] hotelli on ehkä hieman nuhjuinen, mutta siisti. Huoneissa on jääkaappi-pakastin ja mikroaaltouuni, silitysrauta ja -lauta, hiustenkuivaaja ja televisio. Kylpyhuoneet on uusittu muutama vuosi sitten, joten ne ovat siistit ja nykyaikaiset. Uima-allasosasto on karu, mutta ajaa asiansa. Allasosastolla on myös pyykkikoneet ja kuivausrummut asiakkaiden käyttöön, pesu $1 ja kuivaus $0,75. Hotellin henkilökunta oli ystävällistä ja neuvoivat tarvittaessa. The location of this hotel was amazing. This was my 2nd time in South Beach so i knew the exact area I wanted to stay in and this hotel was close to everything. I rarely had to take a cab, but even when I did, it was usually walking distance anyway. The hotel looks very old, but at least our room had a renovated bathroom. The rooms look pretty old […] and worn down, but compared to the prices of other hotels in the area at the time of booking, it was a good deal. The walls in the hotel are thin so I could hear my annoying neighbors playing music at 5:30 a.m. You may not have annoying neighbors like I did, but if you do, you can even hear them talking. I would stay in this hotel again, but I would probably look for a room facing the back away from the street as Collins is very busy even at night and you can hear cars drive by cranking the stereo. Normally, that wouldn't bother me, but after partying all night and trying to catch some sleep to recharge for more the next day, sometimes some peace and quiet is nice. My husband and I recently stayed here with our 2 very young children (3, 1) after we returned from our cruise. Just one night's stay so we could see South Beach. Location was very close to the beach as well as Ocean Drive and Lincoln Rd. I was sad when I first saw my room, but I got used to it. You may want to bring your own reading light, for instance, as there are only ceiling lights. And the main room only has two electric outlets (i.e. one plate, two plugs), so maybe bring a multi-plug extension cord too. Unfortunately, the online pictures/description of the San Juan didnt live up to the actual experience of living there. The photographer who took the photos that were online must have been a magician. The hotel itself has to be at least 50 - 60 years old and shows every day of it. Again, unfortunately, the owners dont seem to have any pride of ownership. […] There is no off street parking offered. Therefore you are forced to either park in a local parking garage to the tune of $16 a day or a parking lot behind the hotel for $30 a day. The hotel itself is a relic of the "art deco" era, with no updating or renovations whatsoever. The carpeting in the hallways looked like it was the original carpet when the hotel was built. Cleanliness was minimal. In the room itself, there was no temperature control, so cold air continued to blow out through the one vent until I closed it. On the plus side the bathroom fixturing was updated, Euro-style, within the tiny bathroom. As with most stays in Miami, one would be advised to brush up on your Spanish. Close to the beach, the good bars and clubs, shopping and restaurants. Perfect location in South Beach. The staff was helpful, the rooms were clean and spacious. The bathroom in our room was newly renovated and tip top condition. The pool was actually quite nice. All in all totally worth the money we paid.

Great location, clean inside rooms. the only thing i care about is cleanliness. everything in the hotel and south beach for that matter is dated. no matter what hotel, but what is most important is how clean it is. this place was good and adequate. Im glad i stayed there due to location. the only issue i had was the construction on the right side of […] the hotel which would start early, not the hotel's fault, and the construction is actually not that loud. Can use some clock radio's in the room. t.v. is a tube t.v. and local stations have from o.k. to good reception. but who cares, i was not there to stay inside the room anyhow, its southbeach. just book the place you will enjoy your stay. from the room to the guy outside chilling smoking a cigar during the day. This hotel is in a great area however the amenities are far from what one would expect. Everything is very outdated. There isn't even a thermostat to control the temperature for each room. The beds are noisy and the carpet was filthy.

Busy Hotel to wind down after flight in to Miami. Bus 150 "The Airport Flyer" drops you off on 17th and Collins, about 25 yards from front door. One block from South Beach, in the Art Deco area a short walk away. Hired a car from Dallar after a few days and saw the Keys, GREAT.
The room was falling apart. Walls were crumbling, there was literally pieces of dry wall crumbled on the floor. Patches of paint that didn't match all over the walls. Hole in the floor covered by carpet. Beds were uncomfortable and most likely not washed since I found numerous hairs under the blankets and sheets. The room and entire hotel has a old […] attic smell and after an hour in the room I began sneezing and congested. Might have been from the mold that was visible on the ceilings and walls poorly covered by paint. The only good thing was that it was located in the best spot. I stayed here last year and the hotel has made a lot of improvements. The rooms have been painted, new light fixtures added as well as new matresses, bedding, and curtains. The TV is still a small tube with very bad reception, but who goes to SOBE to watch TV anyway. LOL. The room was clean and the staff was very helpful. You can not beat the price […] for the location. "A budget in a good location"
Stayed in the San Juan in mid October. The hotel is in a great location on Collins Ave and 17st. Local bus stop is across the road and it is a 10 minute walk to the beach. But it is a budget hotel and that is what you get.

This hotel was old and tired, but the rooms were clean. Our room had a renovated bathroom, but the rest of the room hadn't been updated yet. Renovations are currently underway, so if the accompanying noise and odors of paint aren't of concern to you, this hotel is a good value and in a very convenient location. While the bathroom was very nice, the carpet in the rest of the room was absolutely disgusting: filthy, smelly, ripped in places, and peeling back from the floor in others.
