Super 8 Williamsburg Colonial Historic - Williamsburg

You get what you pay for. We needed a cheap room for two nights and thats what the Super8 offered. The room was fine, comfortable enough. The fridge did not work which was a main reason we wanted to room there. The staff was nice, but we did not venture out of our room to other areas of the hotel. If all you need is a place to rest in Williamsburg, the Super 8 is a good option in terms of price and convenience. It's a very comfortable walking distance to W&M's old campus, Colonial Williamsburg, and several restaurants. The exterior is a little shabby, and don't expect to use the pool. The bathrooms are in worse shape, but they are functional. If possible, bring your own towels and pillows -- this will make your stay much more comfortable. If you pay for a room with double queen beds, you'll need to make sure they don't set you up in a room with two full beds (just because the bedspread says "queen" does not make it a queen-sized bed). The hotel was very old and unwelcoming...the exterior left nothing for the imagination... the hotel smelled and looked old and the pictures on the internet were completely different than standing in the lobby of the hotel...even if the weather permitted...the pool was disgustingly green and the carpet was worn and stained...would not stay there ever […] again...even if it was free... There are a lot of hotels in the area and I'm disappointed I chose this one. I was unfamiliar with the area and booked it based on the price (there were many hotels for low prices) but feel I could have done better. hotel managment was excellent but room was very dirty, windows would not close properly and frig did not work. Bathroom was extremely dirtly and was not cleaned properly. Would not stay there again due to housekeeping or lack there of.

Back side of motel is in shambles when looking from the outside in. We stayed on the other side of the motel which was in better shape but not very attractive. I suppose the price for the unattractiveness was comparable to what you would pay for a night at a motel like this.

this hotel had awesome pictures on it website....the hotel was NOTHING at all like that. it was run-down and just plain nasty! i will NEVER stay there again!! we decided to sleep in late so the housekeeper NEVER came back to give us clean linen or anything.

The hotel at first looks run down, pool looks very bad, although there are some floors smoking that smell very bad we were given the nonsmoking room the room the 3rd floor, we hadeverything you need, microwave, refrigerator, coffee pot. Good motel for the price.

This hotel needs to be torn down and rebuilt first. Then maybe I would stay there again. Room was dirty, had to bring our sheets in from our car because we were afraid to lay on the hotel's sheets. This was a great location but the Hotel itself, I was not at all satisfied. They did NOT have available towels for the other roommate, there was no working ice machines throughout each three floors. The elevator seemed out of service and needed service. I would not recommend this Hotel to anyone. I'm sure I just ran into a bad Super 8.

Would never recommend this hotel. We decided to drive up to Williamsburg a day early so we needed a hotel fast for the night. I have stayed in Super 8 hotels before and have had a great experience but this was awful. I am not extremely picky and have not given many low ratings in these reviews but this hotel is not very good. The hotel hallways were never clean. The bathroom was not clean. They never left enough towels for the number of people staying in the room so I had to daily go and ask for more towels. The breakfast was a bad joke. We stayed 3 days and arrived […] at breakfast at different times each day always to find that the food trays were pretty much empty. The tables were left filthy while the person in charge of keeping things going in the breakfast room would stand outside smoking. One day we went to the front desk and complained that there was no food or orange juice left and there was 1 1/2 hours remaining for them to be serving breakfast and his initial response was that there was nothing he could do about it. He eventually did get someone to go to the store for more food. This was a poorly kept and poorly run hotel. It's only redeeming value was that it was a very short drive to Colonial Williamsburg. The hotel was very close to a lot of things which was nice. The pool very nice as well and so were all the staff we had a chance of talking to. The hotel is very dated and beds were extremely hard. The room was as clean as the maids could make it but the condition of the hotel is in need of repairs. The other complaint we had was the breakfast was two choices of stale cereal or dry bread not something you would feed your children very bad. The hotel management staff were very nice but it could not make up for the condition of the room. the sheets were not changed from the previous room tenants. I had to change them myself. the pillows had stains on them. rooms were cheap but you get what you pay for.

Inexpensive doesn't mean substandard...to me anyway. If it wasn't that we were traveling with children, and hotel was paid for, we would've slept in the car. hotel was dirty overall. Blankets and sheets were not clean. Room was not clean. Pool had scummy feel to the sides. Had a hard time getting exstra towls . Do not stay here!!!! the price may be a bargin but the place is a dump.

Air Conditioning didn't cool room. Hallways and Room smelled. Shower faucet fell off during shower. Ice maker not functional. Beds uncomfortable.

Room was NOT clean. Rust and mold in the restroom. Card keys did not work and had to get help to open room door every single time.

Though the staff were very gracious and accommodating the condition of the hotel was run down. The outside is not the greatest.... The hotel is run down but the rooms were ok for the money.... Beds were clean and all bathroom could of been a little cleaner but, you get what you pay for... This hotel needs to be remodel badly! The elevator seems to be about 50 years old. Free "breakfast" try free cereal. The last full day we stayed. I had the "Do Not Disturb" sign on the door, because I don't like people near my things. I come to my room to find that not only had the entered my room. THEY HAD LEFT THE DOOR OPEN! The right price in exactly the right place, it seems like these folks are trying to improve the place, but its still a little rough around the edges. Don't even bother with the "breakfast"...instead, visit one of the restaurants close by. But everyone was nice and we had an OK couple of nights at a great price.

Good for the price. When I travel I always look for the least expensive hotels because I am never there. Just a place to sleep and shower. However, I will say, the refrigerator did not work and it was new. Also, this hotel had a strange smell most of the time I happen to be there. It only actually had a "clean" smell once while I was there.

The location was perfect because I needed to be near The College of William and Mary. However, the bathtub was not clean! It looked like someone rised it out without using cleaning supplies.

This was first time that I stayed in motel. so, I was expecting humid and dirty place. However, it turned out very clean room with nice bathroom. I requested quiet room when I checked in. there were other people on same floor. The hotel was a little run down on the outside, but our room was nice and the beds were comfortable.

The hotel was very dirty and there were bugs in the room when we arrived... needless to say we did not stay more than 2 minutes.

This motel has definitely seen better days and is somewhat run-down and tatty looking. That being said, our room was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was tiny and the shower surprised us with COLD water once or twice. The supermarket is close, very convinient because the room has microwave and fridge, also good for the restaurant leftovers.( The hotel has coffee and cereal.) Don't rent here. the pillows have blood stains under the cases, they are so flat you have to ball them up to get any cushion under your head and that is when you notice the gross stains. The hall way to the room in about 100 degrees, they are too tight to run the ac in there. The pool concrete has massive paint peeling around it where they used the […] wrong kind of paint.........great place for crack heads but not a normal family or couple !! Don't rent here ever !! Sheets were dirty, tub was dirty had to wear shower shoes, the odor was bad in the halls and elevator. Continental breakfast consited of 2 cereals and loaf bread. The juice was fermented. The breakfast room wasn't clean. The beds were like boards. If it hadn't been for the cheap price I would have left. I guess you get what you pay for.

Very Dirty, the bathroom is very dirty. The room is smelly. Old and unclean sheets on the bed. There is nothing for breakfast, just bread and milk. Believe me, you will regard if you book this hotel.

If you're looking for a place to stay that's just for a night, and is cheap, then this is your place. However, I ended up staying the night in the room, on my air mattress, because I was greatly disgusted by the cleanliness of the room. While there's a lot of room in the sleeping area, the bathroom not only had hair in the tub, but on the floor as well, […] which made me question how clean the rest of the room would have been. It's quite near the historic area, but it's also quite near a train of some sort which makes for a noisy night. This hotel looks like it hasn't been cleaned in years. The "non-smoking" room we stayed in and the adjacent hallway reeks of cigarette smoke. The elevator was dirty, creaky and had no elevator inspection sticker. It went so slow that I wondered if it would continue working. Great hotel for the price, very convenient to all Williamsburg attractions. No frills, but all we needed was a room for the night. There are plenty of other better options near this hotel location. But if you are okay with a simple hotel for less money, this Super 8 is great. Had to wait a few minutes at check in for the manager to show up. Room was clean and location was fine.
