A water line break shut down the hot water on the night I arrived. Notes on the problem and the estimated time to repair were given to guests in a timely manner. Perfect spot for conveience and great customer service.

Was very please with this Hotel. Wish I had a fridge in the room and that the bathroom could of been a little bigger but then again I didn;t spend the whole time in the bathroom.

This hotel was clean, and updated. Enjoyed the very comfy bed and extremely convenient location which was walking distance to our event location as well as restaurant. Couple of things I would change: The bathroom was WAY too small and the shower leaked all over the bathroom making what little walking space existed covered in water. The other thing […] I didn't like was that the only parking that was available was valet. Though their workers were professional and seemed to show care with my car, I am just one of those people that would much rather park my car in the lot myself.....I would have still been fine paying the $18 but would have felt better to hold on to my own keys. Perfect for a visit to our daughter at VCU. Close to everything. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Definitely will come back.

My boyfriend and I recently stayed there for the New Years weekend. The valet parking was great and highly recommended. The room was very comfortable, the only drawback was there was no mini fridge. The best part was the shuttle bus for the hotel. The bus took us and other passengers too Carytown and dropped us off. The driver then gave us his card […] and said to just call when we were ready to come home keeping in mind that it ran till 3 am. as there are no dining facilities, we should have been told that delivery room service was available. as it was, we were directed to nearby restaurants and would have preferred delivery.

The Hotel was located very close to evevrything I wanted to be near and the cab rides were short and inexpensive, also the courtesy bus from the hotel took me several places for even more savings.

The room was lovely, clean and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom was dissapointing though. For a high-end hotel, the toilet seat was cheap plastic that moved around on the porcelain and provided an unpleasant surprise in the middle of the night when it slid and pinched the back of my leg. The customer service of this hotel was phonemanal. My sports motrcycle club threw a huge party and the Double tree was the host hotel. We had over 1000 people who attended the event at the Landmark Theatre which was three blocks away from the hotel. The hotel arranged courtesy rides and everyone I talked to enjoyed their stay. Everything was good, nice room, friendly and helpful staff,. shuttle service is a definite plus, Juanita is a great driver, I would return and also would recommend the hotel to friends.

The rooms were clean and comfortable. Appeared to have been renovated in the recent past. Very convenient for VCU area. Agree with other review tips: no free parking in hotel garage but on street parking was fine, at least on the weekend. Parking for check in very tight in front of entrance.

Had a great stay at this hotel. All the staff was great in making sure I had the best stay and actually going out of there way to do things that they did not have to.

Great Place to stay

I was very disappointed that a hotel would not have parking for its customers without paying $18 a day extra. Other than that, the hotel was fine.

We stayed here for one night, and the service was excellent! The valet, front desk, bar, and restaurant employees were all friendly and attentive. Our room was clean and spacious. I would definitely stay here again.

We enjoyed our stay with you. I only have two small recommendations... 1. The hallways need to be cooler. It felt like there was no air conditioning. 2. The room lights need to be brighter. At least one good reading light would have been helpful. Other than this, the staff was very helpful, the facility was extremely clean and inviting.

My son goes to college at VCU- I always stay at this hotel- usually the service & room are excellent. This last hotel stay was terrible because: 1. I checked into my room late at about 6 pm- I was very exhausted as I had been moving my son's furniture all day. I asked the front desk if they could put 2 of my small bags (they were empty) into my room […] & I'll be back. They told me NO- so I decided to leave them in the room myself. When I walked into the room, it smelled terrible- like someone had been smoking there all day. Icame down ! Told the front desk person. She said she would have it aired out. I told her I was allergic to smoke. 2. I went out to run more errands & go furniture shopping for my son. I came back exhausted, went to the room with my son- we went in & it smelled worse. I called the front desk. They put me on hold- I couldn't even stand to stay on hold- we hung up & went down to the desk. Then they gave us another room- it was ok. 3. I ordered breakfast the next morning for me to pick up- mediocre food. They couldn't even give me some jan with my toast. 4. The previous week I had prepaid a room at the same hotel & had to change to the following week for a medical emergency- I called the hotel- they told me to call some other desk the next day- I called them- they were very user unfriendly- she said she could not change the date of my reservation- so I list that money. This is one of the most disappointing hotel stays I've had. The room was a good size but the decor was dated and the room/bathroom was only moderately clean. The temperature of the room went from stuffy hot to iceburg freezing cold with only a one degree change on the thermostat. There was no finding a happy medium. The flush mechanism on the toilet […] was broken so I had to take the lid off the tank every time I wanted to flush the toilet. At a very early hour of the morning, the cleaning staff was outside my door (the one with the do not disturb sign on it) yelling at each other. Guess they thought it was time for me to wake up. Now this is nit picking but the bag that held the complimentary stale chocolate chip cookie said something about treating me with something warm against winter chill. It was MAY! Made me wonder if the cookie was stale because it was leftover from January. The manager did remove the $16 valet parking fee from my bill but that hardly compensated for the bad experience. She took my information and told me that she would send a gift certificate that could be used at any of their sister hotels but a week later I have not heard a peep out of the Doubletree. I don't care for this hotel. The ice machine didn't work so I had to travel (2) floors to find a machine. The housekeeper woke me up at 6am on the day of check out by continuously knocking on the door and trying to enter with the key...check out is at 12pm. I got a wake up call on Saturday at 5:00am..I didn't request a wake up call. I requested no room […] service...yet my room was cleaned. When I called the hotel to determine if I could get a late check in, the night auditor/clerk had a terrible "tone".. No freebies like razor, toothbrush or toothpaste. Overall, don't bother. The hotel was fine and the people at the desk were great, as were the valets etc. However there were problems keeping the buffet filled on a Sunday morning. They must have been short of help in the kitchen as peole were standing in line and there was no food in the warmers. We never did get hash browns. It was $12.50 for the buffet, so it's best to […] order your breakfast from the menu. The servers got nasty with a few people when they kept asking when the eggs would be ready. The check in staff was friendly and helpful. They have very little temporary parking however for check in so that was a bit chaotic, but they do offer valet parking for a fee, and I found that there was ample street parking in the vicinity assuming you were there on a weekend. I stay here often. It's clean and close to everything being downtown. I have found that the showers tend to leak... not sure what that's all about. Prices are fair. I like it.

The staff was friendly and the hotel suited our purpose of being close to VCU campus. That being said, the hotel needs updating, the carpet was dirty,the resturant is awful, also the bathrooms are tiny

Checked in for 4 days to write my Master's thesis in peace and quiet.....Nice hotel, friendly staff. However, we bought the very pricey $12 hot breakfast, which was comprised of eggs that were obviously from a powdered formula. Yuck!! Not a lot of establishments nearby to choose from at all. Go to the 15th floor..the coffee and breakfast goods are free […] up there in the conference room. The warm cookie upon check-in was a nice touch. The surrounding neighborhood is so-so. I would not recommend being out alone at night in the surrounding street/area (ladies, make sure you are with someone). The surrounding area is also very loud due to emergency vehicles coming and going ALL DAY, a college campus etc... And expect to HEAR a great deal of what people in the next room say/do. The pipes in the walls rattled loudly, which was was interesting. This appears to be an older hotel though, so maybe that is par for the course. If you are not too picky and are looking for a nice room at a decent price, this is a great choice. I would stay there again, mainly because the staff was super kind, even allowing me to check out an hour late. FYI-Might not be child friendly, as there does not seem like there is a lot of space for them to move about and play. Lisätietoja

We only used the hotel for one night following a NASCAR at RIR. The hotel staff were friendly and the hotel was clean. Our room, however, had a very soapy/musty odor, like they were tyring to mask something. The breakfast bar was only so-so. I requested clean towels, wash cloths,and linen on my 3rd night because the maid had not been in to clean the room and replenish towels and linen thus far during my stay. Finally, after waiting over 30 minutes and 2 phone calls to the front desk for STAFF to bring clean towels and linen (as promised by front desk personnel) I walked around the hotel […] to find the maid on another floor to get the items I needed. The central downtown location is convenient. It's an older hotel that's been remodeled. The age of the bluilding shows. The is no free/public parking nearby so be ready to pay $16 per night for parking. My room had a slow water leak either in the plumbing under the sink or the toilet which caused a small puddle of water in the bathroom floor each night. […] Valet service brought me the wrong car when I went to checkout. Large hotel which serves mostly cabin crew for overnight stays, but staff were very friendly and helpful to us with a very large comfortable room and bed. Hotel offer shuttle to all local places day and night and will even pick you up.
