Excellent for the price it was. Nice, clean neighborhood of Ann Arbor near the North Campus of UofM. Buy the room for double beds because the price is about the same but more roomy. That is what I did - alone. Free room phone calls around all the USA ! I liked the simple breakfast too - it was all fresh and ok tasting even if it came out of bags...Danishes were great ( I do not usually even eat pastry). The only negative I found was that the walls are not the thickest! Ask to live in the 3rd floor and in the court yard (front side). While in town try Red Hawk's fajita salad, and Olga's Kitchen! ( I used to live here for school in the 90's and they have been around since!)

"Extreme disappointment."
It wouldn't have been so bad if the rate was more reasonable, but the rate was obviously raised because it was UofM graduation wknd. If you're going to gouge people you should make sure the place is clean and in good repair. Will not be returning.

The Red Roof was a nice place to stay for the price. The continental breakfast was not very good.
"Decent hotel in a good location- Gets the job done"
No frills hotel in a fairly convenient part of Ann Arbor if you need to shoot down to the UM campus. Takes about 5-10 minutes driving. Rooms were clean and everyone I spoke to was friendly.

"Room cleaning"
Had to request a different room after i checked into room. The toilet must have been used after room was cleaned and not flushed.

"Fair price"
It was what we expected. Not luxurious but clean. The outside of the hotel isn't much to look at, there was no ironing board or coffee pot. It was a $12 cab ride downtown. But compared to the surrounding hotels, it was a clean place to sleep and a reasonable price.

We were visiting the University of Michigan and picked this hotel. The location is great. Right off the highway and a straight shot to the campus. Our room was clean and very nice. "Great price for value compared to others in area"

The room was comfortable and clean. The carpet could have been a little cleaner but it is winter so that could be a issue. The dead -bolt lock did not work as the door is warped and wouldn't latch. The stairs going to the upstair rooms is extremely steep and narrow ---- older people would have an issue with this.

For the price, this is an excellent deal. All staff were very nice and helpful. Our room was very clean and comfortable. Location is perfect close to the mall and the U of M. We plan to stay here for each of our trips to Ann Arbor. Excellent experience.

This Red Roof is in a retail/commercial district about 5 minute drive south of downtown. Lots of other hotels right around this one are nicer/pricier. This one is perfectly fine for the money. "Beware what kind of room you reserve"
My brother and I stayed to be close to the U of M hospital for scheduled tests early the next morning. I had reserved 2 king-size bed rooms. We arrived to find that the king-size rooms are on the 2nd floor only. He can't climb stairs and there was no elevator, so I ended up being charged for the two rooms (I was unable to cancel one because we arrived […] at about 8 p.m.) and he paid for a third room with 2 queen-size beds on the ground floor. The hotel clerk said it was not possible to change the type of room to accommodate my brother because we had booked through Hotels.com. This is the first time in a long history of booking through this site that I have been mistreated in the process. "Inexpensive, well worth the money!"
Went to Ann Arbor for the Michigan vs. Michigan State basketball game and needed a one night stay. Hotel was quiet, clean and very convenient. I would definitely recommend it for short stays or a business trip.

I had stayed at this hotel in Dec and was very happy with it so we booked it again. The room was clean, updated, had a fridge and a microwave. The hotel was across the street from the Briarwood Mall and downtown was easy to access as well. The rooms were VERY nice and the comfort was awesom. The people who work there did a marvelous job. When asking for help and to direct, they were kind. I will go there again because my daughter had to have surgery at the Taubman center in the U of M hospital. So, it made staying there alot easier for us emotionally. Thank you for your kindness.

"Red Roof Inn South, Ann Arbor - great deal"
I was in town to attend an all day seminar and needed a room for one night. Room was clean, bed was comfortable, wireless internet was decent speed, and the microwave, fridge and cable tv all worked fine. It's not fancy, but it's a good value for the price.

I am working in Ann Arbor on and off. I have stayed at the Clarion off of the exit to Jackson and prefer staying at the Red Roof Inn. Cheaper and better.

This was the least expensive hotel in AA for that night. Pros: The desk staff were helpful, and gave me a bus map and detailed instructions about buses. They also gave me a spare light bulb and sent maintenance to look at a possible faulty lamp right away. The bed was reasonably comfortable and clean. Cons: The toilet seat was barely attached to the […] toilet. The hotel layout was poorly designed so that I had to walk 20 extra yards to get to my room. The rust on the stairs did not inspire confidence in the building condition. The room felt musty, and the air conditioner fan was noisy. I had to turn off the noisy refrigerator to sleep. Some people in a neighboring room were fighting either outside their room or close to their door so I could hear. The desk area was compact, but not well designed for office work. Overall, this hotel felt like a cheap hotel, and the property felt like it was barely maintained to make money. The price was right, but I would not stay here again. This hotel was amazing for the price. Very close to U of Michigan and downtown Ann Arbor, close parking to your room, free breakfast (just baked goods, cereal and juice), easy access to highways. Stayed for two nights, needed to sleep well both nights and was very pleased, I was on the ground floor and it was very quiet at night, lots of privacy. "Clean, basic room, fair price"
This was a pretty basic room with no frills but it was clean, comfortable and quiet. Staff was friendly and it was close to the state street exit off I-94, Briarwood & restaurants. Continental breakfast was included.
