Hotelli oli sijainniltaan hyvässä paikassa, n. 1 km rautatieasemalta (kävelymatka) ja kanavan varrella. Ympäristö oli rauhallinen ja viihtyisä. Vastaanoton henkilökunta oli todella ystävällistä ja auttavaista. Huone oli pienehkö, mutta siisti. Ainoa,jota toivoimme lisää, oli pikku naulakko ulkovaatteille. Sateesta tultuamme, emme voineet laittaa kostuneita […] takkejamme vaatekaappiin muiden vaatteiden sekaan. Aamiainen kuului meillä huoneen hintaan ja se oli todella hyvä ja melko monipuolinen. Hotellin vieressä sijaitsi yksi kaupungin suosituimmista kahviloista (Cafe de jaaren), josta sai aivan ihanaa tuoreista mintuista tehtyä teetä (Fresh Mint Tea). NH Doelen was well located in the center of the city, but the general condition, tidiness and equipment of the rooms didn't match at all what you would expect from a 4 stars hotel. The problem was also the acoustic insulation of the walls and windows. You could hear everything from the streets, corridors and the rooms nearby. Since the location of […] the hotel was right in the middle of the city the street noise and voices of the people could be heard loudly all night long and we had to sleep with ear plugs. Service although was really friendly and we felt very welcomed by the staff. After first night we were able to change a room to the canal side of the hotel which reduced the noise problem a bit. Comparing the price and our expectations with the quality of the rooms the hotel was a disappointment and we can't recommend it. Ongelmana oli myös todella huono äänieristys sekä ikkunoissa että hotellin sisäseinissä. Kaduilta, hotellin käytäviltä ja naapurihuoneista kuului lähes kaikki läpi pitkin yötä ja jouduimmekin nukkumaan korvatulppien kanssa. Palvelu oli kuitenkin oikein ystävällistä ja saimme ensimmäisen yön jälkeen vaihtaa toiseen vähemmän meluisaan kanaalin puoleiseen huoneeseen, joka hieman helpotti tilannetta. The service was caring at the lobby, and the breakfast room was probably one of the best with a fabulous view to the canal. The rooms however were not 4-star quality, even though we got an up-grade to canal view. The over-all experience was still very pleasant - the location is very handy for walks around the city. At the time of our visit the road […] in front of the hotel was under reconstruction which made the surroundings look a little bit shabby - once that's over it's probably very nice indeed. The hotel is really well located, in downtown Amsterdam, close to nice canals, attractions, etc. The hotel is in a historical building. Because of that, rooms are a little small, but service is very friendly and things seem to work well.

Hotel people are wonderful and helpful. Beautiful historic hotel, well-kept in an ideal location close to everything. Room is small by U.S. standards,but comfortable, bathroom tub is huge and great! we booked and paid for superior rooms and NO smoking, when we arrived we were put on the smoking floor in a standard room,,,it smelt and looked 100 years old...not happy with the reception staff they didnt even read our booking conditions,it was only because of the smoking room that we realised that we did not get a superior room....there were no extra […] beds in the rooms...no extra towels...no extra cups!! do you get my drift.... on a positive note it was a good location and peaceful... I expected that hotel will be a bit better (taking into account the price), but in general it was quite good. Friendly staff. Clean rooms. Awesome restaurant next door to the hotel – it’s great to have a breakfast on open terrace sunny morning. Location is very good – 5-7 min walking to Dam square and Red Lights district.

Found the hotel no problem. Very good location for all local sights. Was disappointed with the room decor and size. the hotel was very clean and we had a lovely greating from the reception staff on our arrival, all the staff very nice and made our stay very comfortable, would recommend this hotel if u like the quieter end , but short distance to the main attractions i mayself would stay again at this hotel

We are three boys from Norway who stayed at 313. We were orignaly just 2 persons but ordered a extra bed in the reseption, which they fixed right away. They were also fun but polight. The placement is perfect , you are not crammed in a part place, but you'l just have to walk 5 minnutes to be ;)

Overall a very good hotel with excellent staff and good location

We stayed at NH Doelen over New Year and for 4 nights. We asked for and got a quiet room with views over the water. We loved everything about this hotel and our stay. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful; very nice room, slightly old-fashioned but we loved it -reasonable size, too; room rate via Hotels.com was great. We have previously stayed at […] Eden's American Hotel, twice, but thought this far nicer -and better value- in many ways and would come back here again whenever we can. The location of the hotel is excellent but it is quite run down, the rooms are very small and the noise from the streets so bad that you can hardly sleep at nights. Not worth four stars - three at most.

Price – reasonable for early in the week and over doubled from Thursday night. Location – great location. Walking distance to trams, restaurants and all attractions. Room – Beautiful bathroom with plenty of bench space. Very comfortable room although on the small side Staff – extremely friendly, English speaking and very, very helpful. Good location for city centre, tiny old fashioned rooms.

The Doelen has a lot of history, from Rembrandt to the Beatles... it's in a great location, with the Amstel flowing alongside the hotel, which is mere steps away from the flower market and canal crusies. Also, it's only a ten minute walk from Dam Square. Staff was very friendly and helpful. I had a great visit!

Too bad they don't mention city taxes of 4 euros per day. Safe is 25eur deposit.. Late checkout is extra 30 eur.. Nice view, very good location.. Wifi you can get from coffee company or from the lobby if you are in the first floor. Otherwise wifi is ~10eur/day..

My wife and I greatly enjoyed our stay at this hotel. I have no complaints at all and the staff were very helpful and friendly. We would stay here again.

this hotel was in the midle of af the city. museumplain, rembrandplain, redlight are maximum 1 km away in different directions .. :)

Very friendly and helpful staff allowed us to check in at 9.30 in the morning and even upgraded our room. The downside was that the mini bar was not working and the room was overdue a makeover but we had marvellous views over the canal which more than made up for that. I loved staying here ,the location was great as it is close to dam square.Lovely wee bars close to the hotel and the room was spacious and clean.It also overlooks one of the canals so a nice view.

The hotel was very clean and the staff where more than helpful.And the location was great as it was close to dam square and beside a canal were we where able to sit and have a lovely cup of coffee every morning. BLISS.

The rooms are on the small side, BUT the area hat it in you don't spend a lot of time there. Way better being out and about in the area. All kinds of thing to do and going on.

Placed in a quiet yet cozy street in the centre of Amsterdam, the NH Doelen provides great service from friendly staff, that seem to enjoy their jobs--even if they don't enjoy it, they don't make it your problem. We, arriving late at night, were very tired, and filling out forms was the last thing we wanted to do. But the receptionist was very helpful […] and patient and we finished in no time at all. We then went to our room and found it to be the perfect size, with enough space to be able to move comfortably, but not too big or small--also keep in mind we ordered an extra bed. The bathroom was spacious and clean, and housekeeping was very generous with their complimentary toiletries. The room was also very accomodating, supplied with a kettle and safe--both worked well, bless them. The staff was very helpful when we wanted to find places to eat. They managed to track down an old memory from thirty-five years ago, which made our day! And while waiting for our dinner guest to meet us, we discovered a nice lounge to relax in, away from the lobby area. Overall, the NH Doelen was a very good hotel, and we would recommend it to anyone looking for a stress-free hotel. Lisätietoja

This has a terrific location, walking distance to everything. HOWEVER! This really is a run down, tired hotel but with modern day prices. Our room needed a total reno, the T.V. was so old, I half expected the Lucy show to come on. We did not try the very expensive breakfast, unable to secure local financing. Old hotel with old, warn furnishings, but clean and well maintained. It was ideally located in Central Amsterdam, within walking distance of all of Amsterdam's major sites and museums. Rates seemed high, given its old furnishings and small space.

Hotel is wonderfully located, but because it is in the university area, it was somewhat noisy at night. Like many European hotels, there was limited access to free internet. Our room was generously sized, and the minibar refrigerator made it easy to store food for picnics. Amsterdam is otherwise an expensive city for Americans these days!

This hotel had excellent staff and is very well located to the sights and local economical cafes. The rooms are large and while relatively basic, have everything required. Highly recommend the canal "candle light tour" which can be booked through reception - far better value than any others we were offered and excellent service with wine and cheese […] on the boat. Hotel is rated 4 star but should be a 3. But still it is an acceptable stay.

Despite the great location, this hotel actually dampened the time I spent in Amsterdam. The front desk staff that I dealt with (probably just a stroke of bad luck) seemed indifferent to customer satisfaction and actually a bit condescending. No WIFI (depending on who you ask, as one desk clerk said there was NO internet availability whatsoever, while […] another gave us vouchers that were only good for a half our in the lobby only). That is a huge downside for a hotel charging what they are. The rooms were dirty, wall paper was peeling, window sills noticeably damaged... The bathroom shower/tub leaked all over the bathroom, so every time the shower was used, the bathroom floor was flooded. At the end of the stay, the desk clerk didn't ask how the stay was; simply charged us the tourism tax, and seemed appalled that we requested our cab to the airport a bit earlier than anticipated. Once again... all of these things would be fine in a hostel, but this was a hugely expensive hotel... I would absolutely recommend staying elsewhere. Hotel and staff were fine- location excellent if you want to be close yet quiet. Breakfast was a little pricey but that is Europe. Staff were incorrect when Museums opened which effected our day's plan, so just reaffirms the travelers credo- always double check yourself.

Our recent stay at the Hotel NH Doelen was most delightful. The hotel is in a perfect location within walking distance of eveything we wanted to see and close to the Tram stop. Being right on the Amstel River was beautiful. Without a doubt the front desk staff was the most polite, upbeat, and helpful of any we have encountered. They should renew the overall interiors of the rooms, they are pretty old compared to other NH hotels.

OVERALL: **Great location, easy to get to most places of interest **Friendly staff **I recommend this hotel for anyone who wants to be near but not in the overly busy parts. **I think ideal for people who don't intend to spend much time in their rooms (honestly who would in this city!?), it's comfortable and cozy, but could feel "small" (like most other […] Euro hotels) after too long. STAFF: **Extremely friendly and helpful with recommendations. **If you arrive past 3am-4am you'll likely have to buzz the door and the night time desk clerk will come out from the back to let you in - not really a problem or delay. I actually appreciate that for the sense of security. ROOM **B+ size for European hotels. **It was clean. **My only gripe may have been the "quality" of the linens. There were tears and holes in some place, but it didn't bug me enough to request new ones, which I'm certain they would have provided no problem. LOCATION: **If you arrive from the train station don't let the cab drivers tell you that you can walk, it's too far (20-30 min walk). **I really felt the location was perfect - on the edge of the center, not too close to the 'scummy' parts of the RLD - close to venture to the south parts (Van Gogh and Rijks museums and the Holland Casino & Hard Rock) by a short 15-20 min pleasurable, scenic city walk. i would definately stay at this hotel again.they are very friendly and helpfull there also the hotel is in a perfect location right next to rembrandtplein a great place for nightlife as escape club is there and also plenty of food outlets and there is a market sometimes in the square also it is right at the top of the main shopping street kalverstraat […] which has every shop you could imagine and goes right down past dam square and by cenral station.dam square is about a 7 minute walk from the hotel and central station about 10 to 15 minutes walk from the hotel.it was easy to find with the map we had and most people in the area know were it is.i could not fault this hotel in any way at all they were top class.thank you Lisätietoja

The hotel location was good - close enough to walk to the majority of attractions, but not right in the touristy bit. However it is also right next door to the University and so is very noise, all night. We stayed for 3 nights (thu, fri, sat) in March and didn't sleep well on any night. Not only was there a steady stream of noisy people walking past […] the hotel all night, but heavy works outside the hotel start early in the morning. Other than the noise, the hotel is nothing special. The staff were helpful, but the furnishings and decor very dated. We didn't find the bed very comfortable and the room was small. Hotel was very dusty - our belongings got very dusty while there. Also, wi-fi internet wasn't free in the room, but they did give us a free code when we asked, which was good for 30 minutes of use in the lobby area which was nice. Staff were pleasant and courteous. Hotel is very conveniently located in the city, close to trains, etc. Mattresses were […] very soft. TV was pretty old school, but we didn't watch it that much.
