Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites South Bend - South Bend

I think Holiday Inn Express offers a great value for the money. The rooms were clean. The hotel was newer. Just perfect for an overnight stay.

I got screwed by Hotel.com on the price of my room. Because I have AAA at a better price.

We will most definately use this hotel again. It was close to every thing we needed.

Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites South Bend was an outstanding place to stay in South Bend. The best surprise was there were no surprises! We recommend this hotel highly.

Although, the hotel was clean, our room was comfortable, and it was close to our race start, the fact that the manager was unwilling to extend our check out was enough of a reason for me to not return to this hotel. My friends and I were staying here while competing in The Sunburst Marathon, and asked for a late check out in order to give us a little […] time to get back, shower, and leave the hotel refreshed. The evening manager gave explicit instructions to the night clerk not to authorize late check outs. My credit card was charged an additional $15 dollars for leaving the room at 12noon. We had everything we needed - exercise room, simple breakfast, clean pool, refrigerator, wifi. Service was quick and friendly. Would stay there again.

Beware, when the desk asks for a credit card for "incidentals" if you give them your debit card they will put a hold on $450.00 without your permission. You will thereby not be able to utilize that $450.00 until it clears. When you call to question it be prepared for the front desk to say "we did not do that." When you ask to speak to the manager he/she […] will say "our records do not show that we did that." They deny deny deny. They will tell you to call your bank and the bank will say that they can't do anything and that you must wait for the pending transaction to go away. No one is willing to help you and you will not have access to that $450.00. The hotel says it's the banks fault and then the bank says it's the hotel's fault...hmmm sounds like someone is not being truthful. It was great fun to me to have my card declined when I thought I had sufficient funds. How does this happen without my consent? I even asked specifically what was going on my card before I handed it to them. I was told $15.00 yet there's no record of $15.00 on my bank statement...just the $450.00 being held hostage. Never again will I do business with Holiday Inn Express. Had they corrected the problem after I checked out...maybe I would still be a loyal customer, but it's been three days...one or more people have been staying in that room and here I wait for access to my money. Stayed here twice in one week and it is comfortable but not close to many restaurants. Breakfast is only so-so but more convenient than going out.

I was very pleased with this hotel. It appears to be quite new. It was attractive. Service was good. Room was comfortable and quiet. I will be staying here again.

unfortunately hotel staff was not up with the breakfast rush. we picked this hotel because of past experience and were a bit disappointed that many of the breakfast items were out by 8:30am
