Pan American Hotel - Elmhurst

We stayed in NY for a week. We were very satisfied with this hotel. It's quite basic, nothing special but worked well for us. The rooms were clean and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The location in Queens was good, about 5 mins walk to the subway and it takes about 30 mins to Manhattan. The fastest way to get to Manhattan is to transfer to […] E (express) train, it's faster than local R and M trains. The surrounding area felt safe, we walked back from subway after 10pm every day and had no problems. There is also lots of restaurants and malls close to the hotel. The free shuttle pickup from airport was very convenient and fast. We payed about a third of Manhattan hotel prices. If you are not looking for luxury, but a cheap, convenient stay and don't mind using the subway this hotel is a very good choice. Lisätietoja

This hotel is good for people who don't want to pay high Manhattan prizes and don't mind using 30 mins in metro ride to get to NY centre. Good connections with public transportation. Very basic hotel, all worked fine and hotel was pretty quiet, no party people. Surroundings might look scary for tourist, but is on daytimes harmless. Nice and cheap restaurant […] in downstairs, good for breakfast. I advise to use hotel's own airport shuttle bus, it is cheap but more important it is realiable. It was our second time in PAH and I'd be happy to come back once again. Cheap price, good location with subway & restaurants & mall nearby, and in the room everything we needed (tv, refrigerator, bathroom, AC) . The refrigerator was a bit noisy but other than that, no complaints.

Ainut huono puoli oli hotellin sijainti,sillä viikonloppuna juuri ne metroraiteet olivat kunnostuksessa millä pääsi Queensiin, ja piti keksiä miten päästä hotellille, silloin metromatka oli tripla 1,5-2h. Pan American oli juuri sitä kaikkea mitä odotinkin. Siisti, turvallinen ja halpa hotelli 25-35min metromatkan (Grand Av. R tai M -juna) päässä Manhattanilta. Henkilökunta oli mukavaa ja avuliasta kaikissa kysymyksissä. Vielä eurooppalaisena yllätys oli joka kerroksesta löytyvä jääpalakone ja suhteellisen iso jääkaappi huoneessa. Hyvä perushotelli ja hinta/laatutaso kohdallaan. Palvelu hyvää ja tehokasta. Vieressä loistavia ruokapaikkoja ja pari suurta ostoskeskusta. Matkailija näkee New Yorkista muutakin kuin "turistin Manhattanin". Metro ja bussiliikenne hyvä kaikkialle New Yorkiin. Myöhällä liikkuessa ei taksikaan maksa Manhattanilta hotellille kuin reilu parikymmentä taalaa […] tippeineen. Olen useamman kerran valinnut kyseisen hotellin New Yorkissa ollessani ja teen sen varmaan jatkossakin. Huom! When I checked in at the Hotel the clerk asked me for my driving license as a form of identification, when I gave it to him he made a photo copy of my license without asking my permission, I asked him why he done it and he rplied it was Hotel policy. Upon checking out the next day I asked fr the copy of my license to be returned to me, the clerk flat […] out refused my request and was very argumentive, I asked to see the manager at which time the clerk went into the back office, he returned after a short period of time and got me to sign a piece of paper to say they had returned my license to me. I was very concerned that the hotel has this policy, it is a big security issue of mine who has access to my private information and what happens to it under the circumstances I ran into at your Hotel. The hotel is located very close to the subway, which is very helpful. However, it is located in a horrendously shabby neighbourhood. It's not a great idea to go out of the hotel after dark, as we stayed there in constant fear of mugging or attack! Luckily, the room was reasonably clean and comfortable. Noise all night long from a night club in the building. Don't even try to get any sleep. Must pay extra for everything, including wi fi. Could not even get a boarding pass without a $20 fee for use of the internet.

This is an older hotel and could really use some upgrading. However, the staff was great and the shuttle drivers were wonderful. The hotel is convient to LaGuarda but the neighborhood is mostly automotive related business (garages, parts dealers, etc.).

No coffee pot in room. Asked for a roll out bed in advance, not in room. Asked about it at front desk and was informed that the person who was in charge of bringing it up, went home at 4pm. At 11:00pm another person was coming in and could we wait. Needless to say, we could not wait, due to a early wake up.

hotel is a little dated but as was only using it for a shower and bed was all i really needed. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. the room was on the road side and was noisy but pair of ear plugs sorted that out. wasn't to far from a subway station with easy access to manhattan bound trains. all in all i would stay there again.

The bell captains were very nice and helpful. I was on the 2nd floor and the room was very basic and I could here the dance club through the floor. I guess the rooms on higher floors are nicer. There were Molds behind the curtain. Night club was so noisy. Even through I was on 3rd floor, I can hear music until 3 am. Complimentary coffee was tasted like urine. My bed was making noise every move. Room Heater was making noise all night long.

Well one thing that really bothered me was that they had no microwaves or refrigerator in the room. To charge that much and not be able to eat your food the next day was not good. I was pleasantly surprised by the variety of shopping within walking distance of the hotel. The subway was within walking distance so opened up the whole of New York.

Really, we used this just as a place to sleep while we toured Manhattan. So it's relative closeness to the subway was a bonus. No wi-fi in the room though (just in the lobby, that sucks), and the bathtub had a drip. Don't expect much, but as a cheap place to stay, it'll do.

For the amount I paid the hotel was acceptable, wasn't expecting anything too fancy. The hotel itself is old but everything was clean. The surrounding area is great though, a mix of good Asian and Latin restaurants. There is also a Chinese supermarket with cheap prices. The trains are close by and can take you to Time Square within 40 mins.

It was as expected. Other reviews said it was clean, but with some out dated furniture and that is just what we got. Our room had a refrigerator, which was also clean. There was no musty smells.
