I always stay at the Mainstay Hotel when traveling for business in Charleston. I have found they have the best rates in the area. I especially like the non smoking rooms and the fact that pets are never allowed. It must have been a busy weekend because the hallways and elevator were not as tidy as usual. Great staff, they were very helpful with finding things in the area. The grandkids loved the pool and cardio room. The bonus was the wildlife right next to the hotel!

Clean room and grounds. Very quick across bridge to Charleston.

Great place to stay. Not fancy, but well suited for a family of 5. Loved having separate bedrooms for the kids and having 2 bathrooms was great! Seth was very helpful and knowledgeable about restaurants and driving directions. Easy access to bridge leading into Charleston. Would stay again!

We stayed at this hotel to do a day of sightseeing in Historic Charleston. It was very convenient to the main highway, with easy access to almost any part of Charleston/Mt. I did not expect much, but the rooms were clean, comfortable, well designed, well-maintained, and the staff was friendly and helpful. The site was safe and secure, the breakfast was suitable, the appliances were quality brands. Decor was not upscale, but was pleasant. I had reviewed several hotels on hotels.com site. Of all the reviews, I was drawn to the Mainstay Hotel in Mt Pleasant. The Mainstay Suites in Mount Pleasant, SC is a terrific deal, whether you book directly through them, or through HOTELS.com. The suites are large, fully equipped, and very roomy. Hotel is very conveniently located - bridge access is right near hotel & the historic district is right over the bridge. Room was very clean. Was pleased to have gotten the 2 bedroom suite - very spacious. Great place to stay to save money from staying in the downtown historic district!

We made a last minute weekend trip to Charleston and decided to stay at this hotel upon reading some reviews. Location was great, front desk people were very nice and friendly. Convenient location and clean. Friendly help but very tight spaces. Single queen suite with pull out sofa is very small. The bed was comfortable but the pull out sofa was rather narrow for my two teens. Very little extra space when the sofa is open. Not even any real space around the Queen bed. Very small pool and little room for eating the breakfast- which I will say was one of the weakest breakfast's of any of the chain hotels- yogurt, toast, hardboiled eggs, cereal and donuts/pastry- no fruit at all. I stayed here with my boyfriend for a long weekend. It was a few minutes drive to the city, a few minutes drive to our favorite beaches- Sullivan's, IOP. Best of all, it was about a 2 minute drive to Shem Creek, which has great dining overlooking the water filled with kayakers, fishermen, and dolphins. Mainstay, Charleston SC - Studio Suite very small (on-line deceptive); room service should be daily, not weekly as offered; not enough parking for all hotel quests (very loud motorcycle parked directly outside next to my window interrupting sleep at 3:00 a.m.); white towels not clean (blood stains). One positive-close to downtown Charleston.

Nice place & pretty good location. Only main downside was that the pool was very small.

Great hotel. Great location. Wish they would let you know that you are responsible for asking for towels everyday and putting your trash outside door for p/u. They clean room every third day. Other than that, our room was spacious and very comfortable.

Mom and I were traveling together. We each had our own bedroom and own bath, plus the common living area with full kitchen! Best set up we've had for traveling companions. Very friendly staff; hotel is right near the bridge that leads to downtown Charleston. Excellent price for such convenience all around.

Everything was going along pretty well over the weekend until I woke up Monday morning with about 25 bites on my hands, forearms and lower legs. Don't know if they were bed bugs, tiny spides or something else. I won't be back there until I know for sure the problem no longer exists (never).

We were extremely pleased with the suite---much more room than we thought we were getting. We had our adult daughter with us, and she had her own bedroom and bath. Our room was spacious and had its own connecting bath and large closet. We had a kitchenette, living area, and a work/dining table. A big bonus was the continental breakfast each morning. […] The staff was very helpful, and suggested good restaurants the locals go to. They also printed out directions to points of interest and places to park in the city of Charleston. We were just a few miles from the center of town, and it was worth the quick drive to have the extra room at a reasonable price. We will definitely use Mainstay again on our next trip to Charleston! Very happy with this hotel. Staff were very friendly. Free breakfast was good and the hotel and room were clean. It was a great value and I would stay again. I don't like the "energy saver" bulbs in the room for the harsh light they give off but everyone is going to be using them shortly.

LOCATION GOOD...FRNT DESK NOT HELPFUL...TOTAL HORRIBLE PARKING VERY IN ADEQUATE....BEDS DON'T GIVE YOU A GOOD NITE REST PLUS BOTH SIDE WALLS A FOOT AWAY, BATHRM EXTREMELY SMALL... After checking-in and seeing the room, I was so excited that I cancelled our other reservation and booked this one. This hotel was great! Very clean and spacious rooms. The full kitchen was a plus as well. My only two complaints were small ones. The parking is awful if you leave and come back later in the evening. Each night, we had to park across the […] street. The hotel was nice and the staff was very courteous. In a nice area and very close to everything. If you go to this area you should definitely go to Jestine's Kitchen in downtown Charleston delicious food and a nice experience.

Hotel was in a great location, mt pleasant is the place to stay for cheaper rates and still close to everything to see and do in charleston. The hotel was nice and clean, only thing that was odd to me was that room service wasn't everyday, only like every 3 days, so if you needed towels/washcloths, you had to ask for them. The faucet in our bathtub […] was continously running which the maint. man said he was aware of and had a part ordered. Overall great place to stay and would stay again! We only stayed for one night but it could not have been better. When we got there we needed to change our reservations so we could get a bigger room. It was no problem for the hotel staff and hotels.com! The staff was amazing!!!! They were very helpful and polite!!

The staff was great!If you are going for The pool it is very very small.The room was clean and had every thing we needed.The hide-away mattress needs to be replace.Could not use wireless internet, it was down the whole weekend.They have the worst parking lot,we had to park down the street and walk back to hotel.

This was our first trip and we relied on Hotels.com reviews. We were very pleased with the accomodations. Having the refrigerator was great.
