Kemah Boardwalk Inn - Kemah

We only spent one night at the Boardwalk Inn and arrived late so we will on go back when we can spend more time there. We really enjoyed our stay and we love to eat at Joe's Crabshack.

It is a great hotel, great service, nicely decorated. The private balconies were great.

We so enjoyed our two day two night stay at the inn overlooking the bay and boat inlet. We sat on the balcony and listened to the music as the live band played below us on the plaza and watched the sail boats go and come through the inlet. I really didnt know what to expect after I read some of the reviews on here , but my stay was awesome!

We've stayed before and always a great experience.

Hotel was great...pool on rooftop...and the location is right in the middle of the boardwalk...everything is within walking distance...you don't need to use your vehicle to drive anywhere...only con's about the hotel are...no fridge, no microwave, and no breakfast

We decided to book just a few days before our trip and it was the best mini-vacation we could have asked for. The hotel was clean, comfortable, and staff was great. The location is awesome. If you have kids, I'd recommend going on the weekend. We stayed Sunday-Tuesday so the place was dead and great for us but not much to do for those who need lots […] of entertaining. My husband and I made a last minute reservation after seeing a 48 hour sale price offered by Hotels.com. I had read numerous reviews for hotels and B&B's in this area. I'm very glad we chose this one. We stayed 1 night during the week of Labor Day and the hotel (and Boardwalk in general) were pretty quiet which is exactly what we wanted. We arrived […] at 2pm and asked the lady at the front desk if we could check in early. She said absolutely and that they had upgraded us to a bayview room. I didn't catch her name but she was very friendly even though the phone rang constantly while we were at the counter (she had been on the phone when we arrived and was just as friendly to that customer too). We spent and hour at the pool and were the only ones there (again, that's the reason we like to vacation when the kids are back in school). The room was nice and the decor is very cheery. The bed was comfy and had lots of pillows. The bathroom was large and nice also, although it looked like some tiles were repaired around the tub and the workmanship wasn't that great. The one thing we thought was odd was that there wasn't a vent in the bathroom. It steamed up when taking showers. Some people mentioned in previous reviews that the train bothered them. Since it was a weekday it only ran until 9:30 so didn't bother us at all. The hotel is in a great area; close to the shops, restaurants and amusement park. This hotel was nice and the staff was curtious and helpful. There were good restaurants in walking distance. You can stay at this hotel and just about everything you need is walking distance. Relaxing area next to the ocean. Good hotel for the price.

Hotel is right in the middle of all activities. View is great and hotel was very clean. I will definitely be staying there again. The only drawback is no breakfast. You have to go to one of two restaurants on boardwalk that serve breakfast.

We were very impressed with the customer service at this hotel from the minute we got there. Very clean. We've been to Kemah plenty of times but this is the first time staying over night. We even stayed an extra night! Recommended!

I've been working in Beaumont TX for past 13 (from Cincinnati) weeks, missed Mothers Day, Birthday, and Anniversary,,,,,,,,, in deep do. I couldn't have picked a better place than Board Walk INN. Loved the balcony, view, the lobby casual antiques, and the location, large bathroom, large room, ample desk & good internet access. Get breakfast next door at a deli which serves great bacon/egg croissants and the like but does not open until 7 PM; there is no hotel breakfast. Watch out for photographers at the restuarants at dinner -they think you're […] on vacation here. Flying Dutchman (upstairs) is better than the Aquarium, but if you travel with kids, definitely bring them to the aquarium restuarant and it's little oceanography exhibit downstairs and huge tanks upstairs, where you can eat good food with a view of the live aquarium. The Cadiallac Bar has good Mexican and great drinks, definitely avoid the "skinny margarita" which they say is bitter but actually tastes quite chemical and acrid for some reason of the sugar free ingredients - it is not just the lime juice! There is a great train outside which is fun for kids and entertaining. Good parking in the deck. Don't expect a workout gym, or a refrigerator in your room! In fact, when asked at the desk, they can provide no refrigeration for anything at all - even employees do not bring in any refrigerated food/drinks for their own meals. Did not see the pool anywhere, though I had a swimsuit along. Wonder where on the 3rd floor they hide it - you don't see it from outside either. There is a running or walking trail available on their 40 acres of property. Not sure if there is a dry cleaning service associated with the hotel. Staff are moderately helpful but cannot produce a soap or stain remover for salad dressing on business clothes, don't have pictures of the hotel pool, and two out of three times gave me a room key that didn't work, so I had to go back downstairs to get it reactivated and try again. The first time this happened was upon arrival when we expected to leave immediately for dinner. The card simply did not work and gave a red light. Our stay was very good but like others have stated, the noise of the kid's train was loud and ran late. The pool was rather small.

I myself love to see front ocean....

nice place But it shuts down by 11pm ! On weekends and by 9;30 on week days ! Night life is 4 or 5 BLOCKS away

The room was big, the bed was comfy. Our room was stuck in the corner so we really didn't have a view of Kemah, but that was OK. The toiletries the hotel provides are AMAZING - really nice. 11 AM checkout seemed a little early.

enjoyed staying at The Boardwalk Inn. It was has nantucket feel to the room, nice size with a balcony overlooking the boardwalk. All restaurants are a few feet from the hotel and the area around the Hotel contains shopping,and activities for kids. It's a great weekend get away.

The room was nice and it was located near some nice restaurants and had a nice view of the Kemah boardwalk. However, it was also near the train ride on the and the operator kept blowing the train whistle until late at night.

My wife and I wanted to go somewhere close-by but nice and fun at the same time and the Boardwalk Inn met all those criteria. We loved how close it was to all the Boardwalk fun and all the restaurants. It was so nice and it doens't have that "chain-feel" to it, which is awesome as well. Had a great time at the boardwalk Easter weekend. Hotel is comfortable and perfectly located. Enjoyed the band (some did from the balcony). Would stay there again.

Great location, great room. Only drawback was the pressure of the water in the shower. Very slight amount of pressure.

We have stayed at the Boardwalk several times over the past five years and each time was a pleasant experience. Hopefully we'll be back many times.

Way over priced bedding was uncomfortable and way too noisy so we did not enjoy our stay.It seemed like every person entering and exiting their room was slamming the door.

The rooms are quaint, and the balcony views are nice. However, there is no smoking not only in the rooms, but on the balconies either, which they didn't inform me of until I arrived. The room is way overpriced for the amenities, and if it weren't for the Boardwalk attractions, it would be totally boring to stay there.

Overall it was a nice stay. Wish we had got the standard king bed like it said we had when we booked online. When we called the front desk to tell them they said this was the last available room and didnt even bother to work with us even though it we were celebrating our anniversary. No bellman, no assistance to your room. Beds were uncomfortable.Music playing outside kept me awake-even though there were no people outside to listen. Attempted to upgrade the room to one with a couch-but it was very, very expensive. There was hardly anyone at the hotel. No restruant, bar, room service. No coolers are allowed. This is the second time we have stayed at this hotel as a minigetaway vacation. Since living in Houston the drive is not far at all and is very quick and easy to find. Everything that you could want to do is on the boardwalk so we did not have to use our car at all during this trip. Tons of activities to do like feeding the stingrays, riding a boat, […] playing themepark style games. Tons of great places to eat as well ranging from convenience food to 5***** eating. The hotel was great and has amazing hotel service along with a very nice pool on the top of the building. Wanted a hotel within walking distance of the Kemah Boardwalk and this definitely fit the bill as it is right on the Boardwalk. Loved the hotel's quaint New England village feel. The price, which I felt was a little pricey, does not get elegance and ritz but if you want a beautiful view and convenience then this perfect. Several other reviews have mentioned […] the noise. I didn't notice noise from within the hotel but the music and sounds from the Boardwalk can be heard VERY well. This was a getaway trip for my husband and I for my birthday, and we have decided to make it a tradition, we had the most amazing time and a big part of it was the location, cleanliness and atmosphere of this hotel. We loved the balcony, hearing the music from our room, hearing the train was a reminder that "we were on vacation"...the only thing i would […] do different is stay 2 nights instead of one, we will go once in winter and once in summer on 2011 and just see the differences, but we suspect they both will have their positives...We are sold out, wont stay anywhere else in Kemah!!! We enjoyed our stay at the Boardwalk Inn. The room was clean, but the comforter was a pale yellow and you could tell it was dirty...I was disappointed about that. The pillows and pad on the bed were down, so if you don't like that or if you are allergic it could be a problem. It could use a little sprucing up...the trim on the lamp was coming loose […] and a few things like that. I loved the cheerful colors and look of the room and the bathroom was very clean. There was some noise, but you're staying right on the boardway, so it was to be expected. The location far outweighed the noise. We had been to Kemah before and have always loved the atmosphere so being able to stay at this hotel was perfect. Everything you could want to do as in shopping, eating, swimming and feeding the ducks, catfish and stingrays was at your finger tips. The staff at this hotel wanted to make sure that your stay was going to be amazing and went out of their […] way to make sure we were having fun without seeming fake or being annoying. They also book reservations for you with the local restaurants which we felt like VIPS. We had an excellent dinner at the red sushi and hibachi grille right across the way which was a 30 second walk from our hotel. (Excellent food and fun to see the chefs make it at your table.) Since we were staying on an off day(Wednesday) we ended up getting an amazing rate. I would definately say though that the doors slamming was definately not a problem nor was the lights coming into the room if you have the blinds facing upwards. The train was fun to hear in the morning and wasnt as loud as we were expecting it to be from previous reviews as we just slept through it. The bathrooms were huge if you need a lot of space as well as the beds were very comfortable. The shower was also huge and wide and also had a place for you to put big shampoo bottles on both sides. (It's the little things that count.) I would say though that they use some sort of feathers in the bed which one ended up poking me a little while until i rolled over. It was horrific. A train was going by every 20-30 minutes honking its horn/bell. That lasted until about 11ish. At 3:30 there was a sound outside my room off of the balcony that sounded like a weed eater. That lasted for an hour. I will never stay there again because of all of this. We stayed at this hotel because we were participating in Walk MS, an event for the National MS Society. It was very convenient and we liked not having to drive anywhere to go eat or sight seeing. Great hotel and service!

I checked the reviews for this hotel from several sources, the only negative was that it was located in the middle of an amusement area and noisy at night if you are looking for a peaceful evening. We were not so the noise lulled us to sleep, it was not jarring or obtrusive, just constant. The hotel was lovely, you don't find these one of a kind places […] in the hotel/motel category. You also don't find too many places that will not charge you extra to park, this was a joy, free in and out included with the room price which was more than your average chain hotel but the adage "you get what you pay" for definitely applies here.
