Grand Wailea - A Waldorf Astoria Resort - Wailea (Maui)

Great pool for the kids. Lovely grounds. Should stay there at least once, but be prepared to get hit with service fee, valet fee, resort fee. It is a great property, everything will cost a pretty penny extra.

I was really looking forward to staying at the Grand Wailea since I'd heard so much about it from friends over the years. I previously stayed at the Four Seasons Wailea and was hesitant to try somewhere new because the service there was so amazing. Things were a mess from the moment we checked in to the Grand Wailea. There were numerous problems - from […] an unclean room/balcony to other hotel guests who were smoking causing our room to stink (despite the fact it's a non-smoking property - something they obviously don't enforce). We called the front desk, security and housekeeping numerous times but they never did anything. We heard other guests complaining, too. Housekeeping took a gift out of our room (not sure how they had "mistaken" it for trash) but left the dirty glasses in our room for days. I would expect this kind of service from a Motel 6 but not from the Grand Wailea. I will never stay here again and will never recommend it to anyone. Lisätietoja

You should know that this hotel is MASSIVE. But only such a large hotel could support this kind of pool system. The kids absolutely loved it. Even though there were a lot of people there, it oddly did not feel like it because it's really well designed.

This hotel was wonderful to stay at. Nice staff, great food. Very, very expensive drinks and restaurants, I recommend going off site to eat. The amenities were wonderful, the pools and beach were very busy but beautiful. I noticed the details were lacking. Broken tiles in the pool, construction was going on around the grounds. First time stay at this hotel! Great experience!! It was Lovely!! Rooms were nice, resort was nice, food was good and staff were all GREAT!! Food and beer were pricey but expected when you are at a resort like that. Overall GREAT experience and will be back!!

We loved it! Our room was a garden view but it had a lovely view of the beautiful gardens and chapel. It was very spacious, clean and comfortable. We don' t have small children so we enjoyed the adult pool however, if you have kids, this is the place to be. The pools, water slides and other activities are awesome. Excessive resort fees and cost to stay at the Grand Wailea was not worth it!! We met up with another couple to show them around the pools and grounds and the other couple was escorted out of the Hotel because they were not guests. I would rather stay @ the Fairmont. You dont have to pay to park and staff is more genuine and friendly.

I stayed at the Grand Wailea for a few days and I gotta say "there is nothing like it". It's not only a hotel, it's also a water park with a stunning beach front, surrounded by beautiful gardens and amazing sceneries. This place is something you will not and cannot find anywhere else. I wont call it a Hotel nor a Resort, but a Palace!

amazing place to stay. easy beach access, great pool, beautiful view inside the hotel and out. service was great. nothing really to improve upon. They also have one of the best resort gyms i have ever seen--basically a mini ballys.

The hotel is beautiful and the service and facilities are well kept and very nice. HOWEVER, for the cost of a regular room (we paid close to 600/nt) one would expect some things to be included like internet, coffee and parking. That is not the case. You will find out that on top of the crazy cost per night for a regular room you will be paying a 20$ […] resort fee for Internet and coffee in your room (same as the Super 8 gives for free!) and then a 25$ a day and usage fee for Valet. This means that every time you need your car it will be 25$ to get it and another 25$ to park it again...and there is no option to self park as in other hotels such as the Westin we had just been staying at. Also, our internet did not work so the Hotel agreed to take off our resort fee for the 3 days we were there. For the price do not believe you get a good 'bang' for your buck at this resort. Everything there as far as food and drink is way over priced like 25$ for a blended drink (just in a regular plastic cup. The staff are good and the place is amazing with fine art upscale interior. The shops are nice and somewhat better priced then the food vendors. But overall for the money a person will have the same luxury and experience staying at the Westin Maui for 1/3 of the price. This was a great vacation for a 4 year old. The lazy river and slides were awesome and the hotel was very kid friendly. Try the Hawaiian shaved ice, fantastic! Don't forget to get fish food for the coi fish in the ponds. Luau was also a fun time, but I heard you could get cheaper tickets by going offsite and buying them at local shops in town. What a beautiful hotel! The grounds are amazing & beautifully cared for...postcard perfect backdrops for pictures at every turn! The shops were wonderful, very friendly staff & reasonable prices which is surprising at a resort this size. Our room was beautiful too - gorgeous ocean views & the beds were soooo comfortable we looked forward to drifting […] off with the sound of the waves outsides! My sixteen year old son had a blast on all the waterslides & beach areas, and there were lots of cabanas & casabellas available for rent (also at reasonable prices). We enjoyed our stay at the Grard Wailea. It is kiddie heaven there and be prepared for the activity level to be high especially during spring break season. We stayed here many years ago during January and it was quieter at that time. I do think the rooms need to be updated, the carpet looked like it had seen better days and the bathroom needs to move […] into the 21st century. Was just what we needed - great, wonderful,comfortable room with a fantastic. Service was awesome. The only thing lacking in the beautiful hotel is the restaurants. They really need to add some better food options in room service too! Other than that I cannot think of anything we did not enjoy. Beds were great, bathrooms nice, view awesome. We stayed at the Grand Wailea from Oct. 24-31, 2009. We loved the pool and the hotel was beautiful. However, we could hear EVERYTHING in our room. Our neighbors next door and above, people walking thru the hallway, etc. Not a big deal, unless you are trying to sleep. It could be a little disruptive at times. But, the room was very comfortable and clean. […] And overall, we did enjoy our stay. The resort fee was a little pricey at $25 a day, I thought, and I wasn't even sure what I was paying it for-it's not like I got free bottled water each day like I have at some other hotels. :) Lisätietoja

They waived the daily resort fee because I told them I wasn't going to use it, which was great, so valet'd the car instead. I have no complaints about the hotel nor the services. Pool & hot tubs should be open 24/7 though. When I got my nails done (at top dollar) the French tips were crappy after only 2 days so I got them re-done for a 1/3 of the price […] in Kihei, 10 min. down the road. Go to Starbucks or Denny's for a cheap breakfast in Kihei, otherwise you'll be paying a huge amount at the Grand. Pools & Spa were awesome, bed was SOOOO comfy and movie rental was insanely high but that's what you pay for convenience & quality. Lisätietoja

Best service I've ever had.

Beautiful grounds, great location, so much open air exposure sitting areas, wonderful spa, water, art, flowers and plants all thoughout....Change of towels twice a day...turn-down service....Been there many times....Best place on the island to stay with our without children....Magical!

Hotel is beautiful - as is the setting. The crowds detract from the ambiance & experience, however. It's worth walking down the beach to the beaches in front of other hotels - to avoid the crowds. Staff at reception desk were rude & hurried. Such a beautiful place to be.

The Grand Wailea is a massive complex of pools and gardens, and despite the twice-daily maid service and various other amenities, they could not manage to deliver to our room the breakfast we ordered the evening before through the form we filled out and left on our door. Although our order was picked up, we were not served our morning meal (at the already […] lofty price of price of $60 for two people) and had to get on our flight to the big island wit empty stomachs. Hotel looked spectacular from the outside. The room was a bit smaller than I anticipated. There are several pools to choose from, no kiddie pools for the little ones. Beach is beautiful and access to beach was right there. Service was great and prompt. Shopping in the hotel or nearby was a lot of fun. I would recommend this hotel. This was the best hotel I have ever stayed in. From the entrance to the grand halls to the outstanding rooms, this is the place. The bed was adorned with down padding and the sheets were high quality. The bathroom was spacious and imaculate. The various pools were a plus with everything from kiddy to adult. We were shocked at how gorgeous this hotel was. Everything from the lobby to the restaurants, to the rooms and views. We were just blown away. We stayed in Kanaapali on the same trip (split our time between Wailea and Kanaapali) and we both agree that next time Wailea will be our only stop. It was too good to stay anywhere else.

Lækkert strand hotel, beliggende på et af de bedste steder på Maui. Her bliver i budt velkommen med en Flower-lei (krans) ved in-checking og imødekommende personale. Her er kæmpe udendørs badeland, med bl.a vandfald, bassiner i forskellige vanddybde, mange vand rutsjebaner, VERDENS ENESTE VAND ELEVATOR, pool bar, hvor man både kan bestille lette anretninger […] og sodavands drinks serveret i annanas "glas", der er en "baby" strand og adgang lige ned til stranden OG MEGET MEGET ANDET. Maden og deres LUAU, er også lækkert og god underholdning, med klassiske polynisiske danse og historie. Restaurenterne har flotte buffeter og værelserne er flotte. Vi nød vores ophold. Vi var 2 voksne og 4 børn afsted og fik en fantastisk oplevelse. Iøvrigt bor man centralt og med et godt udgangspunkt for udflugter rundt på øen. Lisätietoja
