Days Inn University Area - Charlottesville

Staff were all dour - hotel was in poor condition - breakfast area woefully too small with food setup difficult to work with guests cued up against a back wall. I will try the Hampton Inn a 1/4 mile down the road next time - it's easy walking distance to the 4plex cinema too.

there was no regular coffee in room. i asked front desk both days, they said they had none! unexceptable!!!!!!! the room smelled, the grass was 2 feet tall, very nasty place! never ever stay there again! days inn should be ashamed!

The room smelled very smoky. The bathroom was awful - tiny with cigarette stains in tub.

need upgrade badly

Although very conveniently located, this hotel was not worth the money. It was very outdated and not very well kept up. The room seemed as if it had been sitting for a while with noone in it. Not very clean at all. Now I see why it was the only place available 2 weeks before a Jason Aldean concert.

For the money this hotel was perfect. The only negative thing was the hotel needed an update the rooms a little more. Bed was comfortable, TV was old school but worked just fine and along with the AC/Heat. The bathroom was interesting if felt like you were on a water bed when standing in the shower. Do not stay here. Even the non-smoking room smelled of smoke, the pillows especially. There were no lamp shades in the room and only 2 light bulbs

It is a great cheap and convenient place to stay. My wife and I stayed 3 nights, the room was clean, with a mini fridge, microwave, coffee pot and tv. There was a big pool in the center of the buildings that looked great for a summer visit. It is very convenient to UVA and Main Street, but not walking distance. Upon entering the room after a long drive I went to the restroom to relieve myself, only to see that there was literally poop smeared on the toilet seat. I did the adult thing and wiped it off. Thinking, that's gross but you get what you pay for. Then... The remote control was missing and we made 3 requests with the front desk. If you're looking for a place to just sleep and not into the amenities, this is the place. It was a bonus that they even had free wireless Internet. The room needs an update but like I said, I wasn't in it for the looks. It was probably the cheapest room I found on a UVA-Tech game for the ACC Championship. Considerably cheaper.

Hotel is no frills, but convenient to University of Virginia. It is in need of a major renovation, but it's not bad if you primarily want a reasonably priced place to crash for the night. The bathtub was in terrible shape and not as clean as I would have liked. Fortunately, the sheets were clean and the bed comfortable, so we slept well. Having read previous negative reviews, I didn't expect much, and I wasn't disappointed. Booked this hotel only because couldn't find anything else. Shabby and uncared for is the description.

The good: Check-in was quick and easy. The room was clean, except for some trash left in the trash cans. Complimentary breakfast was good. The bad: The shower in the room felt like you were standing on a sponge (hard to explain). Toilet seat was broken.

Other reviews of this hotel haven't been the best - and I'm assuming the owner and staff picked up on that, because they recently renovated the entire hotel. I sent an email to you already and had the worse experience I have ever had. I would not recommend this property to anyone!

Room was fairly clean overall. Bathroom was tiny and drain in tub and sink were extremely slow to drain. Beds were small. TV was old and did not have attachments for the kids Xbox. Aesthetically, the outside needs a lot of remodeling. Inside of rooms don't look as bad as the outside of the place.

I would not stay here if I was bringing my family for a vacation. I was on business so it was just a place to sleep and shower. I have stayed in MUCH better and worse.

my 1 1/2 yr old granddaughter found a sex toy along the side of the bed on the floor, My daughter turned it in to the front desk. This is not a good review.

The hotel is in process of being gutted but is still open for business! They have limited supplies and nothing to be done about it. Dirty towels in room. Stained furniture. Whiffs of urine in the hotel stairwells. Large pool is closed and covered all summer due to unreparable situation. Place is hideous and run down. Breakfast was disappointing, pancakes […] but ran out of syrup. No yogurt, ran out. Fruit had seen better days. Staff is friendly trying to make up for deficiencies. Hotel has University Area in its name but it is really in the commercial shopping region and is no closer than numerous other hotels and farther than several that are closer to the university. This hotel had an extremely friendly staff, but the facility is old. Of note there were plumbing problems in the bathroom and the AC failed to keep the room cool.

The public areas of the the hotel were dirty, smelled of urine, had not been swept in weeks, and dark. Additionally, we selected the site for its pool which was empty of water. The bathroom sink was dirty and did not drain well. Overall, we will not stay at DaysInn again as Motel 6 is a better deal and cheaper.

The pool was not operational in JULY! The toilet seat broke. The beds were lumpy!

Charlottesville is the best. Location is convenient to other services, but it is also located close in between the hiway access points.... Swimming poole under renovation Breakfast not always ready on time. Restraurant under repair construction.

The pool was covered and was only reason i booked this hotel instead of one i knew.toilet was so small i could barely get down to it not a good thing when over half of your guest are there to visit hospital.room was recently remodeled if you consider spraying popcorn texture on ceiling remodeled,and yes they were working on other rooms.air condition […] had mind of its own and no vents in bathroom so you get steam bath after bath and drain in tub would not drain as you washed so you stand in filthy water. Although the hotel was under construction the room was still very clean. But the size of the room was very annoying and the bathroom was a tight fit with thre bath tub alway getting clogged up when I was taking a shower.

Not happy at all. Hotel.com booked me for five people like I requested, but this room does NOT hold five people. Either hotel.com or hotel made a big mistake. Very old and must smelly room. Matress very old an stained. Terrible TV reception.

Apparently the pool is closed for the entire year (2011). We booked this hotel above several others specifically for the pool. It was a bit more expensive and a bit further out than another one I wanted to stay in but it was June and hot and the pool sounded great. When we asked about the pool they were just like 'oh yea...it has a crack. Wont be open […] for at least a year.' No apology or anything. We also checked in around dinner time and the toilet in our room was running really loudly. It is conveniently located, right on 29 and the beds are pretty comfortable. It was the best price for a pet-friendly hotel. The breakfast is not worth going to and there used to be a Red Lobster attached that is no longer there, so that is an eyesore.

The room was comfortable and clean. It had a refrigerator , micro, and coffee maker. The air conditioner was CONTROLLABLE!!!! Good place!

We booked 4 rooms, non of them had working Air Conditioning and one also did not have a working sink. The staff was nice, offering to find a different hotel for us to stay in and eventually purchased box fans for some of the rooms to be able to stay cool.

The first room I was put in was dirty, sink and bathtub were stained and peeling! Then after I returned late at night my room key didn't work, the front desk person was really nice. Maintenance came in about 1 hr so I could get in my room and sleep. Next morning I switched rooms nicer cleaner one, remodeled sink and tub etc. But then on my way out I […] get a call that last guest left her music player! This made me later for my lunch meeting, and my bed was disheveled after the search as if I took it which I didn't. I was compensated for this inconvenience thankfully. Lisätietoja

I am a young professional who travels often and makes a habit out of finding cheap stays without any frills. I came to this Days Inn with very low expectations, but I could never have anticipated the ordeal awaiting me. In fact, this place was so terrible, I lasted about 1 hour before I found it absolutely necessary to cancel my reservation. This place […] is a complete mess-- in both its physical appearance and how it is run. Whatever you do, DON'T STAY HERE. I arrived shortly after 3pm, the check-in specified on the website. I was told by the front desk staff (who, I must say, were polite and appeared to want to help) that they were awaiting the "clean room list" from housekeeping and that I could therefore not yet check in. I joined about a half-dozen other people also awaiting their rooms in the lobby. We ended up waiting over 25 minutes (causing me to miss a meeting I had previously scheduled) during which I learned, through the complaints of current guests, that the hotel had not provided clean sheets or towels for days due to the fact, according to the front desk, that the housekeeping's laundry machines had been broken. After a while, I insisted in being given a room and they finally provided me a key (after twice mistakenly giving me keys to already occupied rooms) but informed me that the room was being cleaned as we spoke and would be ready within minutes. I drove around to the side of the building in which the room is located, parked and went up to the room, only to find the door wide open, the bed freshly slept in and the place dirty. I found the housekeeper down the open-air hall (no where close to cleaning my room, as the desk clerk had promised, though I understand that housekeeping isn't within her control) and asked her when she thought my room would be ready. She told me she had no idea, because the whole hotel was without clean sheets or towels and she didn't know when new ones would be coming in. I got a nonsmoking room. It smelled like an ashtray. I think the smoking smell permeated the carpets and bedding. The phone did not work. I had to have it changed out. Worse, housekeeping DID NOT change the sheets after the last use of the room. When I turned down the bed there were hairs and crumbs. There were stains on the blankets. Gross. I was […] giving up by this time. I figured I would get as much rest as possible and leave as early as possible. I slept on the other bed in a sleep sack (that I always travel with). I still felt dirty the next day. The real capper was when I got into the shower. The shower curtain smelled of vomit. Incredible. I will never stay here again and I am not thinking to kindly of Days Inn. One thing, they do have going for them. The people at the desk were great we had a tv missing a cord and they switched our room no problem and the rooms are clean and comfortable and close to every thing. Would I stay there again absolutely!
