Dude Rancher Lodge - Billings

This place is quaint, clean and convenient. However, the walls are paper thin. Initially I thought there were people outside the hotel being obnoxious, however I realized they were next door. First it started with a slamming door, then I kept hearing loud voices just laughing and cursing and just going on and on about I don't know what. I finally made […] myself get up to look at the time and it was 2:15 am. This kept going on for another hour or so. Other than the paper thin walls everything else was satisfactory. Nice quaint lobby, great breakfast at the attached restaurant and great service. Our room keys did not work, by the time we got back from dinner that night management had remedied the problem. This place was surprisingly nice. The Hotel Manager was extremely personable, and the room was "vintage" looking, but very tidy. Not many places where you need to use a metal key any more, but the bottom line question one should ask....would I stay here again in the future? The answer is yes.

A very quaint hotel, clean, but in a poor state of repair. The matress was beyond worn out, the bathroom fan was not working, just making annoying noise, and the table lamp cord was frayed to bare wiring. The hotel desk staff were old, unclean and didn't seem to care about service too much. I didn't feel they were professional at all. Once I got past them, my experience was fine. The hotel itself gave you a old western experience. I liked it! The beds were very comfortable.

Conveniently located, walking distance to at least 12 restaurants, from fast food (Burger King) to local pubs and sports bars with very good food and drink. The motel itself is an older building that has been overhauled and has perhaps a classic 'cowboy' feel. However, the room was cramped (king bed took up about 70% of the space) and not friendly if […] you are trying to work some business. For example, the small desk will accomodate your laptop, however, there was no chair to sit in. The circular table with two chairs worked but again the room was cramped. Microwave and small fridge had to share a wall socket with the coffee maker, so choose 2 of those 3. Plug and unplug as needed. Pro: location. Con: small, out-dated room. the customer service was great but this place needs an overhaul. while you get the rustic feel, the carpet and doors don't have to be 30years old. Would suggest some updating.

The cups had coffee all over them and the tub was full of hair. Was in a good location for where we needed to go. But the room was not very clean.

A decent price for a decent room. The wifi was a little tough to connect to. Clean and comfy bed. Nice little restaurant too for breakfast.

My complaint about this hotel was that it is not clean. It is an older motel with small rooms, but that would not bother me if it had been very clean. It was not. They do let you park there for free and taxi you to the airport and back at their expense, which is very nice. Reasonable rates, clean rooms and friendly staff. We spent two nights at the Dude Rancher Lodge and found it to be just right for our stay in Billings. The rooms have a charming western feel. There is a restaurant adjoning the lodge which was convenient for breakfast one morning.

Conviently located older motel, bathroom door squeeked, refrigerator a little noisy. Comfortable stay good value.

We thought we'd try somewhere a little different for a on-route pit-stop , for a mid price place it's fine quirky perhaps but the location if great and the attached cafe offered an excellent breakfast. The reception folk are helpful and pleasant

The room and are ok for price. What is good about this lodge is the staff and the location in downtown Billing. Also the breakfast is very good, too

You get what you pay for - it's a motel with a western theme. A room that is supposedly the most haunted was where we slept for the night and we didn't find that out until we checked out because of a book being sold in their lobby - More Haunted Montana. I missed seeing that when we checked in. I googled the name of the motel to find reports that the […] room we had was requested for that very reason. I am so glad that our younger child traveling with us did not know that. Being there in August, I can accept the fact the carpet needs to be shampooed. However, the microwave had a Hardee's wrapper in and was splattered with food! The towel rack came off the wall with a slight bump and towel fell on the floor. We wrote about the last 2 issues on the comment card, and neither issue was addressed during the day. We did get […] clean towels, but no wash clothes for our second night. The restaurant food was great, and the history of the place is told on the menu. Prices reasonable. Yes, I would return. After checking into my room I noticed that there was a container of watermelon left in the refridgerator from the previous guest. There was also sunflower shells under the desk. When I showered the next morning i noticed there there was black stuff on the ceiling of the shower. Don't know if it was mold but there was no ventilation fan. Motel is on the historical sites record and is located in the business district of Billings. We especially enjoyed our visit to the Yellowstone Museum one block away where we saw a wonderful photo display.

The cramped rooms at the Dude Rancher Hotel have very dated decor. The price seemed steep for what was offered. Convenient location.

The hotel was in a great location. The front desk lady was very nice. Rooms were a bit outdated but kept to the overall feel of the hotel. The beds were kind of hard. The hotel felt like Clint eastwood would have rode his horse into the parking lot and stayed the night. It was very cool. Good hotel, well-maintained with comfortable rooms, albeit perhaps a bit sombre in colour. Carpet throughout designed with local ranch brands - very Western! Staff very accommodating, helpful with local sights etc. Very efficient airport taxi service (free).

We were in town for a concert and had a very relaxing stay at the Dude Rancher Lodge. The front desk people were very helpful with questions and directions around Billings.

The dude rancher has all the comfort of a bunk house, the bed was uncomforable and the neighborhood was scary

The Duderancher is not downtown Billings.

A good value. A basic hotel, very near the center of Billings. Very quiet. Rooms were clean, but furnishings etc were fairly old. 5 minute drive to the airport. I would stay there again.

While attempts had been made to update the place-- nice new shower stall, the room still felt shabby-- small, dirty carpets, dim light. The pictures on the web made the place look a lot more charming than it was. The location is good for walking to downtown area, and the staff was helpful.

The Dude rancherr is a little old, but clean and service courteous. It is in walking distance of downtown restaurants and just a few blocks from the Billings Airport. My wife and I stayed there the night before an early morning [6 AM] flight, so we left before breakfast was served and had limited time in the hotel but it met our needs: comfortable […] bed, clean room, A/C worked well. Nice old western style hotel in Bil Montana. Cozy and quiet. we do plan to stay the night the next time we pass thru. the bed was a little stiff though.

I liked the rustic cowboy-style interiors of the room I stayed in. Price was reasonable. I would recommend this hotel.

A great place to stay, central to Downtown, easy to find, on one way street. Has a good feel about it, and the rooms are a step back in time, a bit small, but you'll love it. Room is out dated, beds squeak, tv had a white line across the middle of a black screen, had a hard time plugging something to the outlets.....it kept falling out, carpet was dirty

I didn't expect much from the hotel and was pleasantly suprised by how much we got for the money. I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Billings who wants to stay downtown.
