The hotel is in a very convenient area of the city - close to everything you want to see and do. When we arrived someone was having a party on our floor - loud music, raised voices - not the best greeting to a late night arrival the hotel.. The hotel looked exactly as the photos depicted! The suite was spacious and very clean, the staff was extremely helpful and accommodating, valet service was quick, and the hotel was looked 2 blocks from the Coliseum! I would not hesitate to stay here again.

This hotel was conveniently located and a good price. It is an older hotel, and undergoing some changes, so I could expect some updates soon. The staff was very attentive and amiable. I would stay here again.

I absolutely love this hotel! My husband and I got a standard room and the front desk clerk was so generous and sweet that she gave us a suite with a view of the capital. A great location if conducting business with the State of VA. Otherwise, this part of downtown Richmond rolls up during non-business hours and weekends. Hotel is a basic place to stay; nothing fancy.

I would stay again, especially if I had someone else with me. Can't beat two tvs, that much square footage and lovely views out the huge windows. The furniture is slightly dated, but the bathrooms seem moderately upgraded. I was comfortable.

These definitely werent hotel rooms but more like mini apartments. Coming from NYC where the hotel rooms are like closets I definitely could appreciate the size of the rooms. However my refrigerator did not work. It was plugged in and turned on but was HOT! There is A/C in the bedroom but not in the rest of the "apt" which is separate from the bedroom. […] I was a good neighborhood and blocks from where I needed to be the next day, but all the food places closed at 6pm or only opened 3-4 days a week, WEIRD! This didnt work out well for me as I had just gotten off a 7 hour train ride from NYC. So I ate junk most nights for dinner :(. The hotel has a restaurant but I didnt try it. I will next time. I was taking a course at mcv this weekend and picked this hotel for the location. I had a standard king room on the top floor. The room smelled moldy. I tried to turn on the ac and the fan to help w the circulation but nothing helped. The ac unit was literally right by the bed next to the pillow so it was super loud. Location is close to all Richmond must-sees: Capitol, Convention Center and wonderful restaurants. The staff was amazing - accomodating, friendly and charming. EXTREMELY LEGIT HOTEL. Rooms are enormous, you can really spread out. The only complaint is the elevator which moves with all the haste of a drunk turtle with a broken tibia. Location is flawless, price is good.

I love the Commonwealth. I love the way that it is decorated and everything about it. Makes me think of different times but has everything needed to survive a night's stay in the present. Gotta love it.

The location of this hotel is amazing. It is situated right opposite Capitol Square. Great people watching opportunities, lots of movers and shakers. The staff that I encountered were super nice, extra helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. It is an old hotel, but full of charm and some nice structual features. It's clear this hotel -- located across from the Capitol -- has seen better, more glorious days. It has valet service, but few other service-related perks remain from this historic hotel. It's an old hotel, but it's been kept up nicely. The staff was friendly and helpful. Our room had cool extra ammenities like a heated towel rack. You have to pay $12/day for parking, but at least the location is convenient for downtown activities. The National Theater is walking distance for shows.

I stayed there for one night and it was wonderful. The room was very neat and did not expect that I got a suite for a single room cost. It was an amazing deal for me. Overall the hotel was good. The service was amazing, anything you need they helped with, just great service. The hotel itself is older and the heater and air conditioners could use an upgrade. I rented a suite for a business trip to Richmond. The size was unbelievable. We ate breakfast in hotel restaurant. The service was fantastic and food was good. We could not have asked for a better hotel in a great area. Would love to stay again.

The rooms are huge. Biggest I have seen. The service is only okay, in my view. But if you want a lot of space, and big TVs, this place is great.

There were no towels in our room when we arrived. Our bed was not made up after the first night, and the window in our room was about 2 feet from a brick wall. That said, the location of the hotel is great, and the price was right. Don't miss wallking around the park across the street.

Nice hotel. Conveniently located in downtown Richmond across from the Capital building. We stayed in the double suite - the beds were clean and comfortable. There was a pullout sofa that we did not use. Room was a nice size. A/C in living room wasn't great, but it worked. ONLY complaint -- the only ice machine was on the 1st floor...not convenient when […] you're on the 10th...and the elevator was very small & slow (most likely due to the age of the hotel, so that's understandable.) Only other concern, not for myself but maybe those with children.. the windows open up COMPLETELY...no screen or anything. across from the Virginia State Capitol Building is a beauiful historic building. I was very impressed but its large rooms including a sitting room with a microwave and table, plus a large bedroom and bathroom. The suites were VERY spacious. The hotel staff was very helpful. The hotel could stand to update lounging furniture; but the room was beautiful. I won't be staying anywhere else in Richmond from now on.

Got the special rate for a suite and it was awesome. Room was huge and very clean.

This is an old building the elevator is very small so a large family will have to wait until another elevator was available. But thee room was very large and comfy.

Hotel experience was great on all accounts. Only thing some might not be comfortable with is the fact that it is an older building (built in 1920s???). They've done a good job updating with modern conveniences. It's in a great location. The staff especially were very enjoyable and very helpful. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Excellent facility. We stayed in a massive suite for a very reasonable price. Bathroom was recently re-done, and the king bed was very comfortable. Living room was spacious and fairly well appointed. Valet parking was inexpensive ($12/night) and the valet was outstanding with in & out services. Would absolutely stay there again.

This hotel has great bones. They do, however, need a little sprucing up. The staff is great and very helpful. breakfast was quite tasty. Extremely convenient to I-95.

The location was great for us but the room was not. The room was not clean. The Toilet would not always flush unless I wiggle the water float in the tank. The bathroom sink stopped draining the night before we were checking out. They had noone to fix it and said they could move us to another room.
