Extended Stay America Detroit - Ann Arbor - Ann Arbor

Whoever was supposed to clean the room needs to stop taking short cuts. Dropped my cuff links behind the night stand, moved it to retrieve them, and there was massive garbage back there. The people above me were loud as heck, walls too thin, idiots playing music at 8am. I won't be going back again.

Ugh. Had to find a last minute hotel in Ann Arbor and this one was one of few available (and high $ at that). I've been to I think 3 extended stay hotels prior to this. Two were nice enough, and one not so much. This was the worst of the lot. Very dirty, sticky floors, hairs, etc. Won't describe the bed. Sort of that "bargain rate city motel" feel for […] a much higher rate. Maybe I had a bad room, but the whole vibe of the place was not clean. Front desk staff were pleasant enough though. Our room was very clean and smelled fresh. Nice quiet location. I will definetly come back to stay the next time I'm in Ann Arbor.

While the rest of the room seemed clean enough, the bed sheets looked to be 25 years old- at first I thought they hadn't been changed from the previous guest, but then realized they were old and used up.

The room was not cleaned well, there was 1/8 inch of dust on headboard of bed and bedside lamp. The walls seemed paper thin as every little noise could be heard. Don't plan on a good nights sleep as the freeway next to th hotel could be heard all night and it sounded like other hotel guest were having an all night party.

My stay at the Extended Stay in Ann Arbor was good, but not great. The room was nice and spacious enough for 1-2 people. The kitchen and front room were convenient. The bed was comfortable too. The room could've been a little better maintained though. There were a few areas that weren't cleaned thoroughly, and some of the furniture was aging and/ or […] damaged. Could have been better, i.e. clean better doors. However, we got the room because we went to a Michigan game and it is less than 2 miles away so i would recomend if you are coming for a game because it is close.

not at all what the website looked like. just not a comfortable inviting experience at all.

The place was decent. The staff was just ok. I picked it for the combination of price and location. The kitchen area was a nice touch for extended stays, but I think for a single night or two, I'd go to a Drury.

When we checked in, I attempted to use the bathroom but there was a paper towel with blood on it in the toilet. It was so large it wouldn't flush. There was dried blood on the seat and a little on the ground. One of the two pillows was stained yellow and wrinkled. There were black marks all over two of the four towels. Luckily we only needed to use […] two, but still unacceptable. The counter area of the kitchen had a sticky substance on it. Rooms are large and have a kitchen. Bed was comfortable. Excellent value - other hotels in the area cost much more. Don't expect daily cleaning (you can pay extra for it) or little shampoo bottles. If you are visiting in Ann Arbor, it's a great deal. I would definitely stay there again. The hotel is a bit difficult to find because it's all by itself […] at the back of the Briarwood mall. I read reviews from past guest and I should of known not to make a reservaion here but I thought I would try it out for myself. Well it was such a bad experience from the moment I walked through the door. The checking in procedure took forever and then when I did finally get a room, I stood outside my room for 10 minutes before I could actually get […] in. Their doors stick and you actually have to literally push your room key into the slot for the door to unlock and then once you get the door open, you spend another 5 to 10 minutes trying to get the room key out of the slot for you to close the door. Good size room, good bed. Small bathroom, low quality towels. No hair dryer.

The Hotel would have been okay and I would have rated an average rating if we would have gotten the room that we reserved. We reserved specifically a queen non-smoking and got a queen smoking. We were told that there were no other rooms so a change could not happen by the eve desk clerk and were told to take it up with the manager in the am. She offered […] to spray the room, truly that would have not helped, the furniture bed etc smelled of smoke, We opened up the window and put up with it. We tried to contact the manager in the am but that person was not there yet. We told the day clerk of the problem and was told there were some check outs that day and a trade might be possible after talking to the manager. She said a message would be left concerning this on our room phone. No such contact was left. People were not rude they just didn't follow through on anything. WE had a wonderful time at the Arts Fest in Ann Arbor but unfortunately staying at the Extend a Stay America was not part of that feeling. As a side note we also noted that there were 3 very large old stains on the carpet to our room that we didn't even bother mentioning, did not want to seem like the constant complaining guest. Clean rooms and public areas, friendly personnel, close to everything, e.g. short walk to Briarwood Mall.

Cheaply done, very spartan, no breakfast, slightly surly service.
