Plantation on Crystal River - Crystal River

The outside of the hotel is lovely, great grounds and even better boat rentals (the service there is great!). Sadly the inside is some what dated and the carpets could do with a change. It's probably the best all round place to stay in the area and the staff are great.

I may have had my expectations a little too high due to the photos but the place was nice. We liked the view of the river and the fact that golf was across the street (just an "ok" course). The room was huge and clean although it would have been nice to have been upgraded to a creek view room considering the hotel was HUGE and only a handful of people […] were staying there. I also would never expect a knock on the door at 10:59 am (or at all) when checkout is at 11. We didn't eat there but what we saw looked really good. Good value for money. Good sized pool & gardens. Restaraunt very good and they also do an early bird meal up to 6.00pm which is excellent.

made reservation for a smoking room which hotel .com sent back a confimation on that room,reserveda room w 2/queen size beds got a room with 2 full size beds couldnt sleep w/wife, to get to pool had to walk 400 yards not happy for the price

My Fiancee and I have been to Plantation twice and we love it! We launced our kayaks at their boat ramp and paddled 20minutes to Three Sisters Spring for an awesome manatee encounter! Beautiful facility with many amenities including kayak rental and boat tours of the Kings Bay area, snorkeling with manatees, golf, shuffle board, croquet, and more. Captain John, who led our sunset cruise, was an excellent source for education on the manatees and local waters! Very friendly hotel staff. We intend to visit again!

We stayed at the Plantation because we have stayed there before and enjoyed our stay very much. We had 2 rooms booked for 2 nights. The first night the temperature was dipping down over night in the 40's and when we arrived in the room the room temp was already 66. We tried to turn on the heat but it wouldn't work. When we called the front desk they […] said that 4 rooms were on the same compressor so all 4 rooms had to be turned on to heat for us to have heat and they could offer us blankets only. We enjoyed this hotel. Staff was friendly and professional. Only complaint was noise from room above us. Footsteps and general moving around in the room above was was very noticeable, especially early in the morning. Suggest requesting an upper level room.

The staff personel were very helpfull with all questions that made checking in pleasant. My room was very well maintained with beds nice and soft that made my trip to dreammland pleasant. We enjoyed the renovated dining room and bar as well as the improvements the new chef has initiated with the menu including the lamb entree. Both my wife and I relaxed with a massage which we rated as exceptional. We had been to The Plantation for dinner, and played golf there, but never stayed in the hotel. We felt, that while the room was decorated nicely, it still felt dated and smelled "stale". We tried to use the room a/c, but it seemed to be turned off.

I expected more for the rates they charged. The lighting in the room was dim, the grounds not very pretty. There was a Fountain by the pool quite in need of cleaning and repair. There should have been complimentary coffee in the lobby, it was $2.50 for a small paper cup. Beds were wonderful, the most comfortable you could hope for, bathroom good, carpets were a little worn for the price of the rooms, outside patio areas and furniture were a bit tatty compared to rest of hotel. Parking was really easy. Ask for a room well away from the incredibly noisy ice machines.

I can truly recommend this resort as one of the best I have ever stayed in. I usually travel with Hilton and I have been to many beautiful places.The Plantation at Crystal River stood out for its southern hospitality and homey feel while still giving the luxary you'd expect from a resort. Nice, but old, southern style hotel that is slightly pricey. It is on the canal but there isn't much to see at that point. Employees were friendly. There are less expensive places to stay that are less atmospheric but more modern within several miles.

The Plantation was a nice hotel, we would definitely stay there again. Our room was very clean (no mold smells like some other reviews said) but we were in one of the newer buildings. The beds and pillows were very comfortable. We did not dine at the hotel so I cannot comment on the restaurant. The walls are very thin. The hotel is right on Crystal River and in a lovely location. We enjoyed the dining room and the tiki bar happy hour. I loved the nearby swimming with the manatees activity and Homossassa Springs State Park. The staff was terrific.

Nice atmosphere, Pool Bar was nice but could be made larger. Pool was very nice but open to the public so you had lots of moms there with there noisy kids that made the pool less than enjoyable. Hotel is older but well maintained for the most part. Bathroom door latch was broken making closing the sliding door very difficult if it was opened all the […] way. Dive shop was nice and the employees very knowledgeable and helpful. Hotel needs to invest a few dollars in bumpers mounted to the sea wall to protect the boats from the concrete. Boats use bumpers but still nice to have a protected seawall. If I owned the hotel I would also at least make all the rooms facing the river downstairs have sliding glass windows and patio areas---not just the two center rooms. This hotel was very busy and very nice. Loved the pool area and to be able to watch the boats come and go. Staff was very friendly and helpful. My family and I enjoyed our stay at the Plantation. The only negative thing was that some of the carpets looked dated.

We stay here at least 4 times a year. We loving going to the Plantation!!! Every time we get a weekend with no plans we head to Crystal River and stay here!!! GREAT PLACE, FRIENDLY STAFF, GREAT TIKI BAR.

The room did not have internet access. No gym. No elevators to the second floor. But the location was excellent. The ambience of the layout of the hotel was well done. The area was so beautiful. I would come back for the area anytime.

very helpful with late check out, was using another dive shop for a 8am trip for 6hours, and they were very sincere about helping us so we didnt have to get up at 5am to pack all my medical machinery.(:

We love staying at the Plantation Inn! We always went growing up as kids and now we bring our kids there! It is a great way to get away and relax. It has alot of charm and everything you need!

Very run -down and tired. In foreclosure is obvious as the resort is short staffed and at minimal cleaning levels. They let non-resort guests come to spend the day at the pool which leads to chaos , low class locals and poor service!
