before booking we knew that this hotel have smoking and nonsmoking rooms but we never expected that the smoke can come out the bathroom vent to fill our room and make it unbearable to sleep in, since I am allergic to smoke, we were transferred to another room but moving all our belongings at midnight after a very long day of work was not fun but it […] was a must so we could get some rest before traveling the next morning. In all of my life I've not ever stayed in a hotel as bad as this one. While the desk clerk was very pleasent, the remainder of my experience was terrible. I had originally reserved a room with a king bed/non smoking. This was one of three choices I had online and the only one that was a non smoking room. When I checked in, there was a mix up in my reservation. […] The clerk was able to resolve it with little fanfare but only had two rooms available. One right by the main entrance to the hotel and another (more quite location) in the middle of the building. I opted for the "quiet room", but did I make a huge mistake. This room featured a king sized bed, and didn't smell of tobacco smoke. Much to my suprise there was a mirror on the ceiling over the bed. When I pulled back the bed spread the sheets were clean, as was the pillow cases. However, there was quite a bit of hair and trash on the bedskirt (between the mattress and box springs) that was in plain view once the spread was pulled back. The tub was cracked, shower surround was cracked as well, and the walls had considerable water damage that was the result of an extended amount of water exposure. I was suprised to discover that my feet got dirtier once I got out of the shower than they had been before I got in. In a nutshell, this was the nastiest hotel I've ever stayed in my entire life. When I spoke to the desk the response was there was nothing they could do about it at that time. I assure you that I will never stay in a Howard Johnson's hotel ever again and will reevaluate Hotels.com rating for accuracy. Lisätietoja

Room is very big for a 2 star hotel. Friendly people at desk. Good complementary breakfast. About 15 - 20 minute drive to Carytown. Very good value.

If looking for a cheap place, then this is the place. For atleast the third time I've had to wait for the room to be cleaned after the check in time. The room still wasn't cleaned but so well. With people living in the hotel, it seemed that every move and noise was watched by these residents. For one night at i cheap hotel this place might work but […] I'm not going back. Lisätietoja

This is an average hotel for weekend stays. Don't except luxury service from this hotel. The first day my room didn't have washcloths, luckily I had my own. The washing machine on the second floor was broken. Didn't need it any way. The big advantage is being across the street from a huge mall. I enjoyed myself, to say the least.

a inexpensive place to stay if you don't mind the old structure. rooms are clean and bug free. we were close to family we were there to see.

On the walk into the room I had to walk through a pathway of dog feces. The outside was very dirty. Inside the room was not that bad until you entered the bathroom where hair and dirt remained on the floor. The continental breakfast wasn't much at all in a very dark and dirty area. No fruit or hot items. Just some stale cereal with a gallon of milk […] left on the counter and so muffins that were removed from the individual wrappers which were in the trash can, and some stale bread products and a toaster. The hotel is well located and convenient and one would not expect to have an exceptional room. However, to have the room as filty as this was is indeed unbelievable. They had 3 people in the office when we checked in, and mostly they were getting in each other's way: one certainly could have grabbed a bucket and cleaned a bathroom.

I have stayed here before, and knew I was not getting the Ritz Carlton. (You get what you pay for.) I was, however, disappointed in the cleanliness (or lack thereof) of my room (301, in case anyone is interested): lots of hair in the bathtub; dark red spots (blood?) on the shower wall. this hotel had bed bugs and dead bugs on the conforter i checked out that day two days ahead of time because it was horrible.

I got the hotel for a great price, the room was clean, and the bed was comfortable.

sheets on bed did not look clean. pillow cases stained. Dead fly on towels. Insufficient electrical outlets; beer cans littered the parking lot the next morning. I could not get the TV to work.. This is the worst hotel room I have ever stayed in. Had difficulty finding the front tdoor and lobby. Lobby was run down and hotel desk was bare bones. I thought […] I was in the wrong place. THIS HOTEL HAS RATS DO NOT STAY!!! We were sitting in the car on the phone in the dark and we saw rats comming in and out trhu holes in the walls. There is also 2 wide open large dump containers right underneath the hotel (parking deck). The garbage is full and the stench is unbareable. These rats are huge! Do not bring your babies there. When I first saw the hotel from the road, I will admit, I was a little worried since I am a female staying there alone with 3 of my children and a teammate of theirs. But when I walked in the lobby, the attendant was very pleasant and the lobby looked clean even though the furnishings in it were outdated. After I got the key, parked, and begin walking […] up the outside stairs to our room, I noticed that the outside of the hotel was not very well kept. There was trash laying around the edgesof the walkways, and the outside of the building just looks old. But when I went inside the room, it was very nice. I thinkg it had been recently remodeled. There was a nice size refrigerator and microwave, which we needed very much. The beds were comfortable, the bathroom was clean, and there was free wi-fi. I also saved money by taking advantage of the continental breakfast that the hotel provided. There were bagels, cereal, muffins, and other light things to eat, which is what my ballplaying children needed. Overall, it wasn't a bad stay for the money!! Lisätietoja

It was fine for a one night stay, however I did not even shower because of the cleanlieness... I left and took a shower upon my arrival at home. We had people trying to get into our room in the middle of the night and woke up in the morning to vandalism... It was cheap for a reason.

Based on the price, I thought we might be in a questionable neighborhood - but no the neighborhood was pretty good. But the hotel felt more like a apartment house than a hotel - lots of folks just hanging out. Breakfast was less than basic. Won't ever recommend this place.

The bathroom had mold and mildew on the walls and I cleaned it myself.......The rest of the room was ok for the price, I think little things could make this hotel great like painting and CLEANING....The pool was wet but there again dirty......

housekeeping very bad-ist room i was given had not been cleaned. 2nd room did not have any toels, had to wait 4 hrs for towels & make 2 phone calls. I will not use this hotel again. Thanks debra Goodwin

I booked 3 rooms all 3 rooms were awful missing lamp shade in one room half used shampoo bottle furished by hotel in another room air conditioners in 2 rooms barely worked . Breakfast was not the greatest. Pool water was green. Asked staff member for extra towels was told they were all out until morning to try back then.. Attendant that checked us in […] was not a regular employee was told she was just helping out that night. Overall 3 rooms all bad said they were remodeling but better do lots of work. At the time of check-in I had to wait for a long while because the computers were down and the King size bed was not available so I settled for two doubles. Upon entering the first hotel room, the smell of the room was horrid and the wallpaper trim was peeling off the wall. Also the remote did not work. I opened the door and cut on the AC to air the […] room out but could not stand the odor. So I went to the front desk, asked for my original bargain and instead of waiting again for the computers to boot up, I went to Walmart for sanitizers and a deoderizer just in case the second room was as bad as the first. The second room was much nicer to look at but I came home with bed bug bites all over my extremities. This was my very first experience with bed bugs and when I checked in I asked specifically if the hotel had such a problem. I was told no bed bugs; well my itchy body begs to differ! YUCK! The hotel is very ok. I stayed one night, and arrived about 10 pm. The employee was nice, but the room was hot, did not cool off well at all, and the toilet kept running. Since it was late and I had to leave at 7 am, I dealt with it. Location was nice, but has a horrible entrance that is hard to find. I would recommend if you just stayed for one night […] or two, only because the price is very cheap compared to other surrounding hotels I found. Lisätietoja

You get what you pay for if you need to go the cheap route. The room was clean. The tv, microwave, wifi, and mini-frig worked. There were no wild guests. The toilet seat had been painted. It took me 4 times to get that room. The first one the door wouldn't lock. The second wasn't clean, the third had no frig or microwave.

Where should i start. The tv was scratched so you could barely see the tv show. Upon arrival i entered my room that was "clean" there were sunflower seeds on the floor. The fitted sheet on one of the beds had some sort of "residue" all down the side of the bed. NOT sure what it was. The beds however were very comfortable. Tiny room wouldn't suggest […] it to people with kids that are very active. The pool was Green.. lady at the desk said umm not sure why its green... There is an indian bar connected to this hotel ...The bathroom is EXTREMELY TINY If your not a skinny person you'll have to step in the shower to shut the bathroom door. The tiles in the bathroom ceiling were water damaged... the floor in the bathroom had a dirty q tip and coffee stirrer all kinds of dirt in the floor ... and another thing the hotel sign said all new renovated rooms BS... I would not stay here unless you needed an extremely cheap place for ONE night. .However There is a great drive thru restaurant across the street from this hotel very affordable.. close to walmart food lion and gas stations :) Lisätietoja

So bad it is hard to describe all the problems. I am used to staying in lower end hotels but this one was the worst. Mold in the bath, dirty bed linens and on and on...

To put it simply, I was disappointed with this hotel. It seemed more like a motel than a hotel, which surprised me. There was a leak with the bathtub in the bathroom and it looked like the wallpaper was starting to peel in the bathroom as well. The sign outside the hotel said "under renovations"; it looks like they missed the room we were staying in. […] Not sure I would want to stay at another Howard Johnson's again. The TV was the only issue we had. The TV was too far from the beds so we moved it closer only to find out, tape was keeping the calbe on the tv. We couldn't get some channels and messed with the cable back end all night. Everything else was decent.

The location was perfect for where we needed to be, and we couldn't have stayed there if pets had not been allowed. I guess for the low price, it is hard to find anything satisfactory. The walkways and stairwells were very dirty, and there was very little area to walk your dog. Because people appear to live there, they were standing around watching […] you at all hours of the day and night. The room was clean enough on sight, but the air conditioning did not work properly, there was little light in the room and the one over the sink went out during the night. There was very bright light outside our window that crept in, although the curtains were drawn. The staff was nice, and made note of our problems/complaints, but we would be unlikely to ever stay there again. Lisätietoja

My room was clean and large. A great value for the price. A bit farther out than I wanted to be, but worth the price difference by far.

We booked this hotel based essentially on price, we have not been dissappointed at all. Friendly staff, our was big, with a king size bed. Continental breakfast better than what is generally provided in that class of hotel. The room for breakfast was big with many table, which we appreciated, no need to fight to get a table. I was looking for a cheap place to stay and the Howard Johnson fit the bill. It was your basic hotel, and that was ok as I wasn't planning on spending tons of extra time there except for sleeping. I felt safe, the room was clean. The continental breakfast was also basic, but sufficient. I would stay here again if I was in the area.

not the greatest!! the hotel did say they were doing som renvations but it still needed alot of work can tell that it was an older hotel... some things were run down but they do have a good rate!!
