La Quinta Inn Austin Capitol - Austin

This hotel is in a great location, next to the capitol, close to everything for a very reasonable price. The free breakfast is great including a 'make your own waffle' option. Room was clean and comfortable. The free internet actually worked.

needed a hotel that allowed dogs for 1 night in Austin. driven by this hotel many times and didn't think much of it, but was pleasantly surprised. staff was great and the valet even helped me locate my wallet when it was missing at checkout. great location and would certainly go back, especially with 4-legged children.

Great location but thats about it - the property needs to be renovated. Seems like nothing has been repaired or replaced for a very long time. The people that work there are extremely helpful and polite.

It is a combination hote/motel. The rooms are basic but clean. great location next door to the State Capitol. Service was friendly and maintanence was prompt. Even though some rooms open up to the outdoors, hotel is safe with security on premises at all times.

we requested a non-smoking room...we had a late check-in and the room was a smoker....they moved us the next day to a non-smoker.....they said they did not recieve a request from hotel.com for the non-smoking room.........other than that our stay was very nice.....

I stayed at the La Quinta Capitol in Austin 4 nights for a business trip. My room was clean and comfortable, and the hotel is within walking distance of the capitol, the south side of the university, Sixth Street restuarants, and downtown. Didn't spend a lot of time in the room, but I would stay there again.

This motel was okay and the price was right, except watch out for the mandatory valet parking fees. The capitol and the night life was well within walking distance. The desk clerk on my first night was VERY friendly and started the stay off right. The included continental breakfast was unspectacular, but fine for me. I stayed with 2 friends for 2 nights and we had a really lovely time. The room was clean and comfortable and the front desk staff was very nice and accommodating. The hotel was an easy walk to many of Austin's bars & restaurants plus other attractions. And the price was very reasonable!

Although the outside of the hotel looks pretty rough, once you get in the room, you'll be pleased. The rooms are big and comfortable. The breakfast is pretty good. The location is the most fantastic part about the property. In this location and for the money it CANNOT be beat!

Only complaint is that hotels.com did not indicate that there is a $13 mandatory charge for valet parking if you have your own car.

Negatives first... 1) Some other tenants decided to stand outside and yell at each other from 2 to almost 4 a.m., which pretty well ruined much of my night's sleep. 2) The decaf package I used the first day was not replaced so I had nothing to drink the second day. 3) The tub closure didn't work well. When I pulled it out to try and get it to close, […] there was old hair on it. 4) The light over the sink only came on part of the time. Last week was the 3rd time I've stayed at La Quinta Central Austin, and was just as happy as the last 2 times. They are a dollar busride away from the airport, only a few blocks from the 6th street nightlife and walking distance to anything downtown Austin. The rooms are clean and they have a Fridge and Microwave included, as well as breakfast.

The room was basic but clean. Television had limited channels. Limited to conservative news. The staff was freindly and helpful. No fridge. I will stay there again

Great place to stay if you're in town for the ACL music fest. We were able to leave our bikes behind the front desk in the lobby instead of hauling them up to our room each time. I didn't care for the mandatory valet parking too much but we knew about it before booking. Also, each time someone was outside smoking, you could smell it in our room. Just a 10 minute walk to 6th Street. All the major city bus lines run close by so that you can visit other areas of the city. I stayed here during Austin City Limits. The noise in the halls runs pretty late. One group of people came in at 4am. I was able to sleep through most of it, but I would second other people's reviews that I wouldn't recommend […] this hotel to folks who are in town for business and need to sleep well. You must stay away from the city center for that. I would imagine all the hotels in walking distance to 6th street have this problem, so this is not a Quinta issue. The room was so clean and I had everything I wanted! The front desk person, Renee, was super friendly and helpful. She even gave me band-aids and extra coffee packets when I needed them! I chose to have my room not cleaned by cleaning staff during the 3 nights I stayed there and the staff honored my wishes (I had the Do Not Disturb sign on the door). This hotel is so close to everything you need to do, it doesn't need to be excellent. Which is why the teensy beds, itsy bathroom and shoddy carpeting didn't bother me. What DID bother me was being asked to pay an additional $13 per night in mandatory valet parking. This should be transparent when you book the hotel. I had issues one night with a barking dog across the hall. Then on my last night (Thursday) I had drunk people running around the hallways until 3:30. Not good when you need to get up at 5:00 to catch an early flight.

Mandatory valet parking is over priced. The elevators were always dirty. Guest services were very rude when asking for an extra blanket. Otherwise it was a La Quinta.

only thing was the wait to check in. we couldn't check in until 4, because they were booked the night before. besides that it was nice. 4 blocks from sixth street.

The only thing we did not like was the parking was valet only. We knew going in that we were going to be charged a fee per night for parking, so it wasn't the fee. Just that we couldn't park our own car.

The cleanliness of our room was very very poor. We had made the complaint and we got a good reply from the Manager, it took a time bad was good. We do not know why the Manager said that booking in HOTELS.com or similar websites are very expensive and not a good deal.

The La Quinta is in an excellent location, walking distance to 6th street. While the reception staff are very nice and friendly, the security staff are rude and hold a 'superiority' complex. The hotel's no party policy is also strictly enforced, for example you are not allowed to talk between your hotel room and the elevator when returning home from […] a night out at dinner. (Talking after dark is apparently a no-no.) The rooms are clean, but they do smell kind of weird, sort of stale. The bedrooms with king beds are decent in size but the rooms with two double beds are small and cramped, with tiny bathrooms. Cannot say enough nice things about the front desk personnel. They were exceptionally helpful and friendly even at 4:30 a.m. when we had to leave to catch our flight. We were there for Davis Cup Weekend and the hotel was full but the staff managed it all smoothly. Nothing fancy about the room but we were out most of time. Proximity to 6th St. is both […] an advantage and disadvantage...glad it was within walking distance but some of the other guests, coming back late, can be loud. My young grandson and I visited Austin for a AAU Taekwondo Tournament held at the convention center. The location of the hotel was perfect for us. We visited the Capitol Building next door and the Story of Texas Museum within walking distance. We flew but decided not to rent a car, so we rode the city bus everywhere. The corner next to the motel was […] a major bus stop and for a few dollars a day for both of us, we rode to Zilker Park one morning, to view the bat flight one night, to visit LBJ museum at UT, back and forth to the convention center, and even rode to and from the airport. Hotel personnel were very friendly and helpful. Swimming pool was a good size. I had been having problems with my hip and was concerned about the bed, but it was super comfortable. Breakfast was adequate. Great place to stay if you just want a place to sleep, shower, and take a swim. Upon arriving our room was not available at check-in time. We were told they would get one ready and call to let us know when to come back...we never got the call. The hotel stay was very enjoyable. There is construction going on, and a little inconvient due to that, but overall was very nice. You might want to check and get a room away from the construction if possible, and also one that is away from the doors that separate the inside rooms from the outside rooms, we were right next to the door that has to be […] opened to access rooms and it was slamming quite a bit pretty loudly due to the coming and going of others all hours. If you are looking for location and a fairly good price and do not care about anything else this is your choice. The hotel was a dump, thin walls, no amenities, no restuarant or bar, required valet parking but you still had to pay for your parking space, small pool, not AAA approved. The hotel and room were fine -- nothing stand-out, but clean and what I needed. I stayed there while attending a conference at the AT&T Conference Center on the southern edge of UT-Austin because it was quite a bit cheaper than the conference hotel. My boyfriend and I stayed in Austin for a night, and we chose La Quinta because of it's perfect location. It really is 2 blocks from the Capitol building and 7 minute walking trip to 6th street. The hotel is nothing super fancy, it's clean, and comfy -- and the air conditioning unit was acutually working so well we had to turn it off. The only down […] side is that the hotel is valet only, but it's only $12.99 a day and you can come and go as often as you like. The valet guys were funny and energetic, too. Bathroom was filthy - hair all over the floor; a layer of dirt and dust covered every surface; the sink stopper was stuck and would not drain to top it off! This hotel is located across the street from the Texas State Capitol. The people working at the front desk and valet were very nice, polite and promptly responded to all requests. Room quality is average, but unsurprising giving age of hotel and cost. The bathroom could have been a little cleaner, but this place definitely isn't the worst that I've […] ever seen. Great Locatio

The Downtown Austin LaQuinta served it's purpose of an overnight stay. I was working the BP- MS 150 ride and as such just needed a confortable bed. I got just that...a very comfortable mattress that, by comparison, was very close to my Tempurpedic mattress at home.
