Golden Gate Hotel and Casino - Las Vegas

The downtown experience is the best, and the Golden Gate is part of it. The new Party Pits are the hottest thing in Vegas. Beautiful girls, scantily clad, dealing blackjack and other table games bring the energy way up and make breaking even at the tables a great time. There is an Ozzy and Alice Cooper tribute band that plays for free on Fremont street […] every night, and they are really good. Tons of other free entertainment on Fremont Street as well. Throw in $1 margaritas and $2 Heineken or Coronas at the Fremont Hotel just down the street = a very good time @ an incredible value. Also 10 oz Prime Rib dinners at a bunch of places for $8-$9. We tried Tony Romas and Magnolia's at 4 Queens and both were worth $15 easy. My 3 friends stayed on the strip where margaritas were $8 each, we had 2 rounds for all for of us for that price, and they were good tasting as well! All 3 of them agreed without a doubt that they will stay Downtown next time. Golden Gate is one of the OG casinos and their embrace of the new party pit atmosphere is allowing them to expand in the near future. All the tables are dealt by Party Pit Beauties and 3 of them are on little stages dancing as well. Hedonistic Heaven! My one complaint is that I had a room overlooking the street, and you could hear the band playing till 2 am. The rooms were very clean service was good.The hotel was small but a good value.The late night entertai.ment was a surprise rather loud didnt think about when booking the room

The hotel is very old and the rooms are very very small. In order to shut the bathroom door you have to step into the shower, yes it is that small. Someone had a dog in their room and all it did was bark.

The good - right in the heart of the Fremont Street Experience, great valet service, helpful staff, comfortable bed, dancing girls on the bar, low cost The bad - tiny rooms, must pay for room coffee, noisy from Fremont St., hallways smelled like a nursing home. Came in a day early for a family reunion, so chose a less expensive hotel off the strip. half off sale made the room $35 tax incl. This is an old historic hotel. if you like vintage, this is it. 1. Too Noisy till 230am. Walls are too thin to keep the band playing outside, outside. It was like the band was playing in my hotel room. They play late till 230pm on the Friday night I was there. 2. Stayed here for one night at the end of our 4 nights in Vegas because my boyfriend and I wanted to check out Old Vegas. After spending 3 nights at the Hard Rock (which is my fav hotel in all of LV)... we were in for a reality check at Golden Gate. The hotel was clean and our room was sufficient for crashing there for the night, but I would not spend […] an extended period of time here. Our room was TINY and the bathroom could barely fit more than one person in it (I am only 5'3" and 110lbs) and was very cramped. Also, the hotel has a strange smell in the hallways and elevator (I think it's just because it's old). The location is great, as it's right on Fremont St. If you're looking for a cheap place to crash at the end of the night, this is definitely sufficient...but you get what you pay for so don't expect any frills or additional amenities beyond a clean (very small!) room. desk service was very friendly and helpful. hotel has lots of vintage history in the building. rooms were modernized. but very small compared to an average hotel room. if you are claustrophobic in any way, i don't recommend. specially the restroom. but very clean. bed very comfy. no smoke smell. quite hallways. music from fremont experience was audible […] in room. ok with me. puts me to sleep. parking was a "no choice" valet parking next to the building. the lobby downstairs is located next to the cafeteria and bar which is loud and noisy. maybe due to the go-go girls dancing on pedestals next to card tables and bar patrons talking loud. all in all, a decent lil hotel id you're not going to stay inside all day. but who is? after all, this is las vegas. The room was large enough for us, it was clean and well looked after, but the corridors smelt really bad. Similar to an old nappy. Location couldnt be better for those wanting to see Fremont St.

Tried it as I've hit most Vegas hotels. Room had new furniture. Room was small, rug worn. Better options at same / slightly higher room rate next door (Plaza). I'd rate a 2.5.

If you want to be in the middle of Fremont Street this is the place. Don't miss the huge $4 shrimp cocktails and breakfast at DuPars.

The room was updated and clean also very comfortable if you like very small spaces you had to be very careful when going to the bathroom you had one tiny space to walk once inside the bathroom you had to almost walk into the shower before you could fully close the door which the bathroom also looked like your high school bathroom. If you're visiting Las Vegas because you like to spend a lot of time in your hotel room, you might want to pick a larger, more luxurious room. I like to spend a lot of time walking around with music, lights, drinking, and some gambling while hammering down awesome shrimp cocktails. Therefore, Golden Gate might my needs perfectly. The restaurant is excellent as is the snack bar where the shrimp cocktails are served; outstanding sandwiches. The dancing dealers were fun and pretty. I like the Fremont Street Experience over the amusement park casinos at the MGM end of town - it's more of what I feel Las Vegas should be like. Hotel is very old, and the guest rooms are extremly small and cramped. Furniture was new and bed linens were premium. But no serious renovation since the 60's. Needs way more then some paint and a few light fixtures.Oh...... and way off the strip. I couldn't wait to check out.

Bathroom and closet are about as small as you can get. The doorway into the room is narrow and the room itself is barely big enough for a queen bed, but it was clean in the room and the appointments were nice with a flat screen and nice furniture... and the price was right. The halls were not as well kept as the rooms but they were okay. I would stay again, because of price and location for good, low minimum bets at the surrounding casinos and entertainment on Freemont st. which it is on. Also, if you happen to get a room facing freemont street, god help you. There are concerts going on 10 feet from your window which don't quit until midnight or later. I was here on a business trip, and was disappointed. I was here for 3 days. Good points - Nice antique atmosphere, the hotel still looks vintage 1905, but with a few modern amenities. Located right on Fremont street, the Experience is right out the front door. The room was clean, with plenty of towels and toiletries. Everyone was praising the shrimp […] cocktail that was being offered for $1.99 Bad points - The walls are very thin, so one can hear every note, and intonation that is happening down at the experience. Would hear every fire truck and ambulance that went racing by, and they were frequent. Every morning, my room would fill with cigarette smoke from my neighbors. The room was very small, and only had a full sized bed. Noting that I am 6"4", my feet hung over the end of the bed. There was no desk available in the room. I was supposed to right some reports, after work, and there was nothing to put my laptop on. The TV only had about 10 channels, and some of those are Spanish speaking only. The water pressure in the shower was horrible, barely more than a trickle, with both valves full open. The water temperature in the shower varied widely quickly, any time anyone in the whole hotel flushed their toilet, the shower temperature went really hot, and then quickly really cold. The curtains did not close well, and left a noticeable gap, that would let in much a lot of sunshine. Note, I was working third shift (11 PM to about 3 AM), so I was trying to sleep during the day. The air conditioning was way too small, the room was very warm in the afternoon, when it was a hundred outside, room was only comfortable first thing in the morning. Lisätietoja

We throroughly enjoyed our stay ... and we will without a doubt be staying here again and again... We live in Las Vegas and try to escape from time to time and get away from the normal hum drum life that you have in every city, i.e. work, home, work, home, work, home ... and only 15 or 20 minutes from home through town, it's like being in a totally […] different city when you get down to Fremont Street or The Strip... This hotel holds a lot of history, built in 1906, it holds many of the charms of earlier times, but with the convienences of today. The rooms are very tasteful in decoration, clean and comfortable, Im in my 50's and these rooms in some respects bring back a lot of fond memories of when I was young ... it's an awesome place!!! The staff there is friendly, helpful and courtious ... we can not say enough about how much we enjoyed our stay at the Golden Gate ... all we know is they are going to be seeing us on a regular basis for our 'mini vacations' .... Great, antique hotel with a ton of Las Vegas history. Stayed the weekend there. If you have an early bedtime, request a room not facing the Fremont Street Experience. Noise levels are loud until early morning hours. But if you're in Las Vegas to experience the life, facing it is awesome! Room was clean, beds were about as comfy as the ones we had at […] TI & Luxor, front desk staff were pleasant & the dealer girls in the evenings were great too! Love the old vegas charm, very cozy (even for a smaller room), bed is like a cloud, slept well...shower changed temperature to the extremes (my only complaint), but considering this place was built by Fred Flintstone (1906) maintainence is probably hard to keep up but overall very clean and comfortable!

Rooms were extremely small, but what I can't forgive is that the bed was not clean. There's no excuse for that. Bottom line this place is a dump. Will never stay there ever. The whole Fremont St. is over rated and nothing but a freak show. Really stay in the strip, close to the mega hotels. Not worth it.

My husband and I have stayed many times at the Plaza then the Vegas Club. Since our visit was a "spur of the moment" decision, the Vegas club was unavailable to us. We called Hotels.com and the offered us The Golden Gate Hotel. The front desk we were greeted by friendly clerks, very helpful. Our room was a small but it was very comfortable and cozy. […] The only complaint we have is their halls had a weird, stuffy odor. To be honest , I reserved this hotel, because strip was getting out of my budget. But once I checked in I found myself really lucky... The hotel is cozy and top of it the girls in CASINO was awesome. Room was neat and clean. Bit small in size but was ok.

Older hotel but they have tried to give an updated look to the rooms...all rooms are not the same even if booked as the same...BIG differences i suggest the third floor over the second.. smaller rooms and small shower stall only in the second floor room of one of our traveling party, close to the freemont street for after the strip wind down with its […] one entertainment, all in all not a bad place to stay if you dont mind being off the strip. staff was excellent! every need was met promptly and professionally Lisätietoja

Golden Gate was a great place to stay! Sure, it was a little room, but it had tons of character and wasn't that loud at all (stayed on the weekend). I would advise anyone to stay here, especially if you like to gamble and have a lot of fun on the old strip :)

The room itself was small, but well worth the cheap weekend rate. I think my only complaint would be that it has single pane windows and you can hear EVERYTHING outside. Good thing I am a heavy sleeper.

The room was litterally 11 feet x 11 feet. tiny!!!! The window was not insulated so all the noise from Fremont Street was heard. If you stay up until 2... doesn't matter. Staff was friendly. Price was good though.

My friend and I were in Vegas for one night only. It was a mutual friend's birthday - and we couldn't go out for the entire trip but wanted to join in for at least one night. She was staying at the Golden Nugget, but we wanted to keep the price as low as possible so we picked the Golden Gate Hotel. The location and hotel staff were great. Our room on […] the other hand, was not so great. Everything about it was tiny. They said a queen bed - but it felt smaller than a full/double. I am 5'5" and my feet hung off the end. I was sharing the bed with my friend - which would have been fine in a queen, but we were cramped. There was no bathtub, only a small shower. We were a little weary of using it without flip-flops as the tile floor of the shower was just an extension of the bathroom floor and seemed a little sketchy - I had enough to drink that I didn't really care about the shower floor once I took a shower -- but that was my immediate reaction. Also, this room had no sound proofing. We could hear everything that was going on in the entire hotel - it seemed. There was an 1 1/2 " gap from the bottom of the front door to the floor, plus the walls seemed paper thin. Well located for downtown activities. The room was small but comfortable. The bed was very comfortable, slept like a baby. The shower worked well, however did not drain very fast. The Golden Gate is one of the oldest hotels left in Vegas, and it shows. It has not been updated in many, many years, and some people find this charming. I do not. It was honestly the smallest hotel room I have ever seen. The bathroom faucets leaked and dripped all night long, the floors and walls creaked, and you can hear everything that goes on in […] the other rooms through the walls. I Left a pair of Slacks on the bed and when i called to have them hold them for me, I had one person tell me they had them and even described them for me, but when i called back to arrange pick-up they mysteriously lost them :() very upset, because i had a valuable ring in one of the pockets.

The hotel was ok for a cheap place to stay. I wouldn't think that it would be appropriate for families with children. Hallways smelled like urine.
