University Square Hotel - Fresno

I had a presentation at the university and chose this hotel becaurse it was close to the university campus. The surrounding area was just big roads and some fast food places. I was warned not to go out during night time as there had been some bad things happening nearby the hotel. Generally, it is ok.... But I really don't like the free breakfast it offered. No eggs, no sausages.... And it is far away from Yosemite.

I had stayed here a few times several years ago. It had been fine, so thought I would try again when my daughter and I came through town to visit friends. This time, it was apparent that the place was in bankruptcy. The poor guy at the desk didn't know what he was doing so it took a while to check in, not only for myself, but others. One guy had been […] given a room that already had someone in it! The overall appearance was worn. The worse part was going into the room and finding the air con had not been turned on yet, and it was pitifully weak. I called on the phone to the desk, but they said that maintenance had gone home and would not be back for the weekend! He gave me another room, but it was just as hot. The maintenance man finally did show up and fooled with the thermostat. He tested the air that was coming out of the vent and pronounced it cool. However, the fan was still pitiful. At least it finally cooled the room down after we had gone out to dinner for several hours. Then, the coffee in the room had a single serve with only one regular and one decaf. Yeah, we could have called for more, but come on. This was a room with two queen beds. Couldn't they have thought of this beforehand? The folks we met up with in town explained that the place had gone downhill due to bankruptcy. I do NOT recommend anyone stay here until and unless a new management has the chance to get it together. Price was fantastic. Check-in and out was quick and easy. The room was clean and quiet. The bed was very comfortable. Would definitely stay here again.

The hotel itself was nice, and the location was great. Breakfast is good with several hot items along with the typical breads, pastries, and juices. My only issue was the floors in the room were not the cleanest. The surface areas, like counters, desk, and nightstands were clean, the sheets were clean, but the floors appeared dirty.

I paid a little over $50 through hotels.com and will GLADLY stay here every time I come to Fresno (at least once a month). Hotel is a little dated - basically it used to be a very nice hotel, but hasn't been updated in a while. However, it has been very well maintained and is clean and in very good condition. The location is down the road from the mall […] with lots of resturaunts and right accross from FSU. However, being a college neighborhood there was a lot of noise. I'd recommend asking for a courtyard room to insulate yourself from noisy neighbors a bit (though they did stop promptly at 9pm). Lisätietoja

Overall happy with exception of being charged a $50 deposit for "incidentals" to my prepaid credit card which is taking up to 5 days to refund. Pillows were exceptionally soft, and bed comfortable.

I was expecting excellent and got ok. Kind of "used" and shabby. Neighborhood was a little "shakey". You can walk to dinner. JUst not was I was expecting.

It wasn't bad - however there was some sort of event going on at hotel and was extremely loud up till about 12:30am. Original room, was right above the event location of the event, we might as well have had cots right in the middle of the event it was so loud. Front desk was very accomodating in getting us moved to another room a few floors up but the […] issue was never fully resolved. I was very happy with everything and have no complaints. However, feedback is always helpful. Went to use the hot tub at night and it appeared to have a film of yuck, so didn't get in. And, the first floor entrance door to the building with room 205 didn't appear to shut and therefore was not secure and didn't require the key card.

We were pleasantly surprised with the hotel and our room for $37 price. Close to lots of shopping and restaurants. I think proximity to the university is a big reason for the great value. Easy access to route 180 and Kings Canyon. Will definitely stay there again.

It was great stay in this hotel. The staffs are kind and accommodating, breakfast is free and good. All in all I will recommend this hotel and will come back for sure on our next visit in Fresno.

After checking in we had to get back into the car and drive around the corner to various buildings where our room was, very different! It was okay for the night very close to the university, the staff were kind and courteous.

My sister & I had to call 3 times requestring toilet paper & towels. The 1st night & the 2nd. Everyone was very polite & courteous but kept promising to take care of the issues & still didnt happen. We went out for dinner, came back the & still no toilet paper! A real necessity. Aside from that it was very comfortable. thank you

A bit outdated but a very nice atmosphere. People are a bit different than the average, the intellectual kind. Very good value for money, nice breakfast included and spacy rooms. Very hot outdoor whirlpool, which is a nice difference to the unheated swimming pool.

Location is ideal for Fresno State and the Save Mart Center (basically across the street). There are a lot of restaurants on the same street and it is right in between multiple freeway exits. Location is safe. Customer service is always great. Only ding is that the hotel feels a little dated.

Staff was friendly and helpful. Rooms a little dated but bed and pillows super comfy. Shower wonderful with duel shower heads. Perfect place to stay for any venue happening at Fresno State. Very satisfied with hotel and would defiantly stay there again!
