Royal Lahaina Resort - Mauin saari

The beach was perfect and also garden was beautiful!! Room was okay, clean and nice but there smelt a little bit smoke (cigarette) eventhough room was non-smoking.

Room was comfortable and clean and close to the beach. Service was great and prompt. Plumbing was in need of some work (leaky faucet), but would recommend stay there to anyone.

The hotel was just average, definitely over priced. I would not stay here again.

We loved the overall feel of the hotel. Great location,beautiful beach, old hawaiian feel to the grounds. However if you stay in a cottage know what you are getting before you get there. Old furniture, outdated t.v. a bathroom begging for an update. My first thought was to move to the newly renovated tower, but since we were with extended family who […] was staying in the room next door we decided to tough it out and stay in the cottage. To my surprise the bed was comfortable, (not like a Four Season mind you) but not the worse either. Having a fridge in the room was a plus. Being able to walk out and eat breakfast with family on the lanai was nice. Watching the kids play on the lawn made for nice family memories. On the downside the shower was terrible. Just plain awful. The good just out weighed the bad in this case though. Would I stay there again? the answer would be yes! The cottages with the family, The tower with my husband for a romantic get away. If you are looking for a good place to eat try CJ's deli in the strip mall up the street. I loved everything about our recent stay at the Royal Lahaina Resort except for the housekeeping. We had 4 people in our room and never once had more than two cups or three towels to the room. It's like the housekeeping staff didn't have a checkoff list to replenish items for our rooms (we were with 3 other families and we all had the same problem. […] We had to call everyday to get more towels (so we all four could shower) coffee cups, bath mat. We stayed in a cottage room in building A which has a perfect view of the ocean and easy access to pool. The rooms are better than the other reviews suggest with the bathroom shower/ tub being slightly dated but all still perfect for the price. The beach is beautiful and it's a very pleasant 15 minute walk to Whaler's village for shopping and great […] restaurants. Amazing what treasures you can find at the last minute. Our flight was cancelled out of LAX and we ended up in Maui rather than Oahu enroute to Molokai. Wonderful 24 hour stay at this delightful property. In many ways we wish we could have stayed rather than continue on to Molokai.

The grounds, beach, pool were great. Easy walk to Whalers Village, shopping and restaurants. We stayed in a cottage, was pretty and clean. Bathroom was old and needs updates. Glad we were only there one night. I would try it again, but defiantly stay in the tower next time, decent place for the $

Examples: -messed up check-in and tried to upsell to a more expensive room -parking spaces are cramped; only large enough for a motorcycle or a VW bug -inadequate # of parking spaces; needed a golf cart ride to & from remote parking -ran out of beach chairs -pool is small & lacking design features -no free wifi and only 1 gust computer

This hotel was rather dated and had a few minor issues. The toilet and bathtub both ran which is frustrating for those water conscious. The most unacceptable thing was the parking. 300 yards from hotel room, incredibly tight parking(hard to open doors) and they charged $10 per day! This is just greed. The beach cottages are older but fine for a few nights and the price is well worth it if you are using the room to just sleep and change.The location to the beach and beach walks are great, the view is amazing esp for sunsets. All staff are very nice and helpful. Able to walk to restaurants and Whaler village stores.The last day we did not have a flight […] until 10pm and were able to check out of our room use the hotel facilities for the day. Rooms are very clean. Restaurant had delicious food. Happy hour at the lounge by the beach was great - except no slushie drinks there. Nice to be right on the beach, and right on the path!

We had an Ocean View room in the tower with a view to the north-west which meant that we missed seeing sunsets from our room. The lights in the bathroom were recessed and directly above the edge of the counter. It made it hard to use the mirror as my face was always in a shadow. The beds have a feather tick over the mattress that I had to pull off […] due to my allergies. There were both feather and synthetic pillows available in the room - a nice touch. Some of the minor irritants were that I found the thermostat was a bit out as it was always cold in the room. I finally just shut it off. There was also a burnt out light in the room. If you are a bather, be aware that there is sizeable shower but no tub. There is a $10/day charge for Internet access but no charge to use the two computers in the service center (although there is a 15 minute time limit). We did not use the on site restaurants. We ate in Whaler's Village and at other nearby restaurants (Castaway's and Basil Tomatoes). You MUST have breakfast at The Gazebo but be prepared for a 1 hour or more wait at times. This is the best side of Black Rock for snorkelling. We saw lots of varieties of fish and about 5 turtles. On our last day, a seal was on the beach sunning itself. The other side of Black rock has a bit nicer beach/swimming area but there is a waterfront walk that runs through all the resorts in the area making it easy to get around. The staff were helpfull even to the point of helping arrange taxi service to the hotel. While we were there. I noticed construction on the beach front units. When I spoke with a couple in one of the other beach fronts, they were very happy with it. I was at a convention in the Sheraton, on the other side of Black Rock, the previous week. This place was MUCH BETTER in almost every way. There is a free shuttle that runs between all the resorts and Whaler's Village. A lovely hotel right on the beach. We found the hotel staff to be very efficient and friendly. We were able to sit on our balcony and watch the whales-fabulous. We would definitely return to the Royal Lahaina.

We spent 4 nights on Maui, the first 2 at the Royal Lahaina Resort. The hotel lobby is inviting and the staff is friendly. We stayed in one of the cottages. It was a spacious room, however seemed a little outdated and could use some remodeling. The tv was old and dated. We got a good price and honestly only slept there so I can't complain. The pools […] are small and the water is cold but the beach access is nice and the beach walk is great. We didn't eat at the on-site restaurant. The drinks at the bar are nothing to brag about. It's a short walk to Whaler's Village and Black Rock for snorkeling (excellent). Across the street and down a bit is a strip mall (Fairway Shops) with a restaurant called CJ's that has an early bird breakfast special for $6.95 which was well worth it. Lisätietoja

The room that we had was in the old part of the hotel and the highest room rent that we paid in the13 days of our visit in four other top rated hotels. The bathroom vents need cleaning. The new part of the hotel was beautifull, but could not get a room There was some confusion in the number of people that was in our party and was for only one night. […] The desk people was very accomadating though. Though our overall stay was very nice and the housekeeping staff was excellent, we left the hotel on a sour note. At our checkout, the clerk requested our pool towel key, which we had forgotten about, having left our pool towels in the room. She told me before checking out I had to return the towel key, which meant my having to return to my room, pick […] up the towels, and return them to the pool in order to receive back the towel key. Meanwhile, while I was returning to my room, she ran my credit card to complete the checkout. Of course, the room key no longer worked for the room and I had to return back to the desk to get another key. I went back up a second time and the key still did not work (meanwhile I transportation to the airport was waiting). I came back downstairs and suggested she send someone up to the room to retrieve the towels. At that point, she said "never mind" and handed me the bill. At no time did she apologize, say thank you, or even smile at me. I said nothing and walked away. I really feel a hotel of this quality should train their staff to be kind and courteous to their guests. The cottages are getting old. This is not the Hyatt or the Sheraton in terms of star level. However, I preferred this hotel over the other two. Staff is really friends and mean it. Our stay at Royal Lahaina was wonderful. The ocean view was spectacular. The beach was beautiful and fun to look at and swim in. The pool provided an additional way to cool off. The hotel was with in walking distance to the Black Rock which provided excellant snorkling. For the golfers, lots of different courses to golf but watch your slice! The hotel […] is a short drive from different whale watching excersions. Driving to the crater is a little farther but it is an easy drive, switch backs and all. The cottage room we were given had a substandard bathroom that was falling apart and the cheapest blanket imaginable. The room was extremely basic for the price charged. The swimming pool was far below Maui standards. The location was very inconvient; not within strolling distance of the famous Kaanapli beach, with minimal amenities and no entertainment. […] We had to rely on their trolley to get around. The hotel beach was tiny and not connected to the main Kaanapali beach. For the same price, you should stay at the Kaanapali Beach Resort, which is much better. Lisätietoja

Excellent service, very nice rooms, great beach, and a decent location. The only down side is the pool is nothing special and there are only a handful of chairs

Second visit to the Royal Lahina. We feel right at home and love the people! Close to everything, great beach access, and love the cottages on the golf coarse!

The resort hotel is right next to the ocean. Easy access to the beach everyday. There's a buffet at the hotel for breakfast, a bit priced but worth the food and view. Nice room with wooden designs of Hawaiian culture.

Partial Ocean View and Ocean view are sma rooms on different floor. No need to pay more for the Ocean view rooms. If u really want a good ocean view u should take the Ocean front room. We got a good deal on our room and we had a beautiful ocean view. The room was very clean and modern and the outdoor balcony was a plus. The hotel itself is a bit outdated and isn't a great scene if you are under 50, but overall we can't complain because we were right on a great beach, we were a short walk to good snorkeling, and Lahaina is a short […] drive away. Was a very comfortable room. But housekeeping never left washclothes. When we called them it took an hour to get them the first day. We also asked for four, they brought 2. The guy seemed to be a little irratated that he had to go back and get more. We just figured that if we asked for 4 wasclothes that we would have 2 left for the next day. When housekeeping […] came the next morning they took all of them including the clean ones we set aside. So wwe had to call again. We got them within 30 minutes but the guy who brought them was rude. We loved our stay at the hotel, the rooms were clean and the staff was very friendly. The breakfast was the best part. Self Parking was a bit hard as some cars just took more than one spot but there is additional parking further in the back. We found this hotel to be excellent in terms of location and amenities. We had a room facing the pool and also had a view of the ocean. A bit noisy at night with the goings on in the main street, but we found this to be fun.

Really enjoyed our stay. The decor is beautiful with a traditioanl Hawaiian theme. Lots of real teak which is a thing of the past. Our room was really nicely decorated. Wonderful King pillow top bed. Slept great with the sliding door open and the tropical breeze flowing in. for a 50 year old hotel it's really nice. All the employees were very nice and […] helpful. Only ate one meal at the restaurant and it was good with very fresh salad greens. Pool was a bit disappointing in size and atmosphere. This hotel is in the middle of the best group of hotels on the island. It is right on the ocean with 2 pools and the best luau in Maui on the property. One of the best known golf courses in Hawaii is connected to the property - Kaanapali. The staff were exceptional and the room was fine. They have a great staff to connect you with any kind of adventure […] you wish to be part of on the island. The on-site restaurant provided inside or pool side sitting with excellent food and staff. Stayed 3 nights - family of four with two teenage sons. Very nice hotel and beach. Hotel grounds beautiful. Service staff very courteous. Nice jogging trails around hotel area. Breakfast buffet was very good. Parking spaces very narrow. Wish swimming pools were larger.

This hotel is in dire need of a complete facelift/remodel. The staff was pretty friendly and courteous but the hotel, rooms and facilities are old and shabby. The room was tidy but did not seem clean at all. The grounds are not maintained nicely although the pool area was quite nice and beach access was excellent. My husband and I stayed at one of their cottages and we could not believe our eyes when we walked in. This cottage was so old and dirty, it was absolutely disgusting. For the price we paid on this cottage, we should have gotten a lot better. We stayed at a lot of hotels and this one was by far the worst and would never return to again. Place is ok, but they don't tell you that internet is not included (and mine went down during the rain, wireless didn't even work in the room at all), no free parking, no gym at all. they say that the property is huge, but most of it is used by cottages.
