I was very happy overall with my stay at Alexis Park. The room was very clean and comfortable. Sure, the neighborhood might be a little sketchy but you just take your regular safety precautions and you won't have any problems. We were able to park in the small lot and we felt the car was totally safe while in the lot. We will stay here again since […] it is very convenient to most areas of the city. Bus lines are right outside the door and if you are looking for a place to stay close to the Great American Music Hall, you can't get much closer! Very clean room. Nervous about my car in parking area vending machine took my money. You get what u pay for. wouldnt spend more on the room than what I did.

the front desk did as little as possible! they ignored the crack smoking in the parking lot in broad day light, they woke me up every day to ask me if i needed service before 9:00,on a holiday weekend, they called me and woke me up to tell me thay had to clean the room the next day because they couldn't let a room go for four days without being cleaned, […] when i informed them that i had not been in the hotel 24 hours yet they hung up!the maid staff worked their buts of and did a good job and were nice,thats the only good thing i have to say about the place. Clean rooms, get there early so you can get parking.

Neighborhood = terrible. If you are a woman or a frail man I do not recommend walking around after 10 pm. The rooms are clean, beds comfortable, nice TV with Dish network. Don't expect any amenities. For a room near touristy San Francisco, for the price, tough to beat. "Free parking" is very limited. Rooms were fine but the blow dryer is something from the 70's. If you are a girl, I'd highly recommend bringing your own.

Staff was not nice ... not polite and not welcoming Free parking service is a joke there is maybe only 10 spots available, so it s always full. I just got a bad vibe there.. especially with the staff ..

My wife & I needed a place for one night. We were pleasantly surprised to find this motel. It was clean and easy to get to. The neighborhood sucks, but we're from the bay area and in our younger years used frequent the clubs in the Tenderloin, so a couple of crazy homeless folks don't scare us. Lobby staff was really rude but overall nice hotel for the price and location

This hotel was on a very loud corner (more so than other hotels on busy corners we've stayed at in SF). We usually use the air conditioning unit to drown out the noise, but didn't realize it used a control on the other side of the room (not the controls on the unit) - so we went all night without it. Not the best of hoods, but very nice room! i was expecting a lot less for what I Paid but was very pleastently suprised! Walking distance to so much SF has to offer (I BLK from Van ness). And at a Great Prie as well!! Thanks Hotels.com!

We stayed there for 2 nights on our trip. The price was not cheap, but the best we got on columbus weekend. The room was not too big but very nice, comfortable and clean. The guy at the front desk (he's always there) is a bit weird but funny. He wont let you touch the wafflemaker! :-) The breakfast is pretty good. Bagels, cereals, waffles, pastries, […] juice, tea, coffee, milk... Parking right at the hotel is included. The location is pretty good. Just up Polk St. are a few cool bars. One block down the road, there is a coin laundry. Right next to it, there is a fantastic vegetarian thai restaurant (we're no veggies) that just opened. You have to try that! I was here on a three-night business trip. I didn't have to stay in the hotel much. This was fortunate. The place used to be a Comfort Inn or one of those chains (you can still see the logo in a few spots). The decor hasn't been updated since the 1980s. Another quibble: no HBO or other cable movie channel. The "high speed internet" barely registered […] on my laptop. I borrowed an ethernet cable from the front desk and that did the trick. However, there is a striking lack of electrical outlets and the ethernet plug is across the room from the nearest outlet. The doors all open into the parking lot. This might not be such a concern if the neighborhood wasn't so dicey. It is on the edge of the Tenderloin district. Lots of panhandlers and strip clubs. The walls were thin enough that I was awoken every night by the crying baby in the room next door. The breakfast featured Frosted Flakes as the only cereal. It is served in the cramped lobby, so there is no place to sit. The toilet in my room ran all the time. I notified the staff one morning but when I returned that night they said that the plumber couldn't fix it until the next day. We felt the most uncomfortable and unhappiest time in our vacation ever. The receptionists had unbelievably bad attitude with the clients. They are in a transparant box which is like a bank and talk with the passengers like they are thief! They charge every one when they arrived either you paid before completely. The feeling is really like being in a prison and the guard just follow each movement of you! We never experienced a room like this in a street with so many noises, police siren, homeless, smell of vomit, insecurity and the feeling of unwanted guest! we never come back to this Hotel which likes a motel and never advise this one to any one. Very bad and rude customer service. Bathrooms were clean. Room is to tiny. Too far away from any of the places to visit in SFO. Breakfast is a joke and the management acts extremely stingy on it

If you have business in San Francisco and I did in the Haight/Asbury neighborhood. Where there is no commercial parking, as it is a residential, historic neighborhood with great shopping and dining for all ages. Well I stayed here for one night just needed a hotel near my friends place. This was it available, reasonable rates. It was my first time here I mostly just chose it for location. On that a 5 star. The hotel was ok, tight parking, But on the plus side it was free! The rooms are upgraded a bit, I loved the bathroom so cute! I booked the hotel and then read the reviews. Then I was a little scared to stay here. After staying here the only legitimate complaint people had was the neighborhood was a little scary. We stayed there to go to the Giants game, pretty convient.

Firstly, the motel was very good, as was the breakfast. The big problem is the neighbourhood. Stay well clear. I have never felt so terrified and under threat as I did walking back to this motel just after dusk. Even in the comfortable room I didn't feel safe. The hotel was in a bad part of town, the Tenderloin district with many homeless people milling around all hours of the day and night. We must have been right down the street from a fire station because there was a constant stream of ambulances with their blaring sirens going off day and night. When we asked for an extra sheet the woman yelled at us for having too many people in the room. We had the same amount of people that we registered and paid the extra fees for. They had no rollaway bed so one person slept on the ground. I have never encountered such unfriendly service.

After reading some reviews down grading this establishment, I had second thought after I paid through the website. At first I didn't care much about the neighborhood described by the reviewers, however when my wife decided to come along with me (I was to run the SF Marathon) then I was panicking inside. She asked me where we were going to stay overnight, […] I responded "somewhere where people act 'happy.'" We survived the driving direction of our GPS in SF to arrived at Alexis Park. The gentleman in the counter was rather laconic, void of any warm welcoming personality but professional at best. Here comes the best part when I received my key and enter to my room: WOW! Everything inside was new, high quality and modern design. My wife told me later that the bed was one of best hotel bed she has slept so far. Parking was available as first come and thankfully we got it! Overall, knowing that the neighborhood may not be the most quiet giving that it is close to many night clubs, I will return for vacation. the hotel is in the middle of the city and close to everything either by car, mass transit or foot. while it will never be confused with the Marriott Marquis, it is clean, comfortable and convenient and it offered FREE parking! however, if you like to walk, take a companion with you as the areas to the immediate east and south are less than desirea […] ble. The decor in our room was a little out dated, but otherwise very clean and comfortable. We would stay there again just for the shower alone. There were a lot of homeless people in the area, but no one bothered us. Within easy walking distance to City Hall.

The room itself was very nice and the price was right. Not the greatest of neighborhoods, but we we didn't go walking around at night, so it was OK. My biggest concern was that there weren't enough parking places for the guests, but there was a garage across the street where one could pay to park.

This hotel looked fine on the internet, and the relative proximity to the Moscone convention center seemed like a decent place to stay. I must say the rooms have been recently upgraded from the 1960's Motel that the place must have started life as, but that does not change the fact that to get anywhere you have to walk several blocks through some of […] the most deranged pan-handlers and street people I have ever seen. Taxi's don't come up here, so you have to thread the gauntlet to get somewhere safe to catch one, and since the layout is Motel style with all doors opening to the street, I lay away all night waiting for some drug addict to break into my room. We liked our stay. The room was clean, the staff friendly. The neighbourhood was not of the very best when walking after 8 p.m. in direction of Union Square. At daytime it was no problem. Great motel and good location -- especially if you're in town for a trial either at San Francisco County Superior Court (McAllister St.) or San Francisco Federal courthouse (Golden Gate Ave.) Only problems while I was there: no elevator or handicap access to the 2nd floor; and ice machine out of commission. I have stayed in SF a number times previously, and I am fairly familiar with what is available at this price point. I was pleasantly surprised with this motel - the room was spacious, clean, well furnished, and comfortable, I should also mention that our party consisted of four adults in one room, and we were quite comfortable. The employees were all […] friendly and helpful, and we felt safe there despite the shady neighborhood (which is a few blocks from Van Ness, I am just not used to cities). The breakfast is also better than expected. In addition to the usual bagels and yogurt, they provide fresh, delicious Belgian waffles cooked to order. A nice surprise and a nice way to begin the day. The hotel is very internally noisy; with some additional noise from the streets. Very limited parking!! Staff not unfriendly, and even somewhat helpful. Good location for symphony/opera.

Room is clean but location is not good. Too many homeless guys were sleeping around. The bad thing that I don't recommend this hotel is their customer service. They seem not care about their customers. The guy in the font desk was very rude.

As long as you know the neighborhood, you will be pleasantly surprised! Much nicer than the Econolodge-- great parking, central location, great price. We will definitely be making this our new favorite hotel in the city.

This Hotel was very clean, and taken care of. Hotel was comfortable. You can hear lots of outside ruckus. Hotel owner/staff, not sure, same guy there everyday not so friendly. Orignially booked 1 adult and 3 children, my party ended up being 2 adults and 2 children, Hotel ended up charging me an extra "fee" per night for having another adult? They also […] charged me $175 deposit even though I had already payed for my room in full. Continental breakfast consisted of packaged danishes, toast, bagels, frosted flakes, yogurt, milk, orange juice and belgian waffles. The owner came out with a cup of batter when you asked for a waffle and made it for you. He wouldn't let you touch the machine. He watched your every move during the breakfast hour of 8:30-9:30 a.m. He seemed put out everytime you asked for a waffle. Got upset when asked for more coffee be made then was told that he only had batter left for one more waffle and there was still 3 of us who hadn't eaten. Just felt like the owner was very stingy with everything. It wasn't a warm friendly experience. Which is a shame because like mentioned above, the hotel was very clean and seemed like it had just been remodled. Alexis Park is centrally located and affordable. Friendly staff, free continental breakfast was nice, room was clean, walls were quite soundproof, A/C worked perfectly. Ask for the wall side, not the street side and it isnt that bad. The beds were a bit hard and the pillows were bricks in disguise, but the rooms and bathrooms were surprisingly clean.
