For a four star plus "resort" I was somewhat disappointed.The resort's website did not indicate that the marina and 9 hole course were being renovated or eliminated. Moreover, there was no supervision at teh indoor pool facility. The resort is located in an incredibly convenient location. Shuttles run to Busch Gardens and Colonial Williamsburg. Stayed here in December and visited Busch Gardens, which is about 4 minutes drive from this hotel, as well as various holiday events in Williamsburg. The hotel was lovely--peaceful, clean, cozy. The beds were amazingly comfortable and the super-spacious, CLEAN marble bathroom was a dream after a long, cold day out and about. Free wifi was appreciated […] and room service was excellent. Did not experience any issues with noise, but in December, the resort is probably less crowded as opposed to a summer weekend when more families with kids are vacationing. If traveling to this area between fall and spring, it stands to reason that one should inquire about the availability status of amenities such as pools, waterfront activities/restaurants, etc. I was well aware of these issues since I called to determine these things before booking. Everyone was very accomodating. Our room was clean & nicely appointed. You could hear people in the other rooms walking and opening and closing the patio doors.

"Good bang for your buck!"
Kingsmill is close to Colonial Williamsburg and Jamestown, the resort faciliates are well maintained (they have a nice size indoor poor and gym), the room is spacious and clean (the bathroom is very spacious!) and hotel staff are friendly. We ate at the Edge (restaurant within the resort) - the food was very good there but a bit pricey. Only complain […] (similar to other reviews) is that the hotel walls are very thin - my early-riser neighbors woke me up most mornings. Given what we paid for the room it is good bang for the buck! "snobby over-rated hotel"
My husband and I booked this hotel hoping to have a relaxing, comfortable experience, but we couldn't get reservations for the spa (needs to be booked with weeks in advance) and the general appearance and cleanliness of the room was below standard. This was really surprising considering that they have a "dress-code" to use the resort. We didn't eat […] at any of their restaurants, but we did use the pool. The pool is large enough to actually do lap-swimming, but it was quite dirty as well. The only good thing I have to say about this hotel is that the bed was very comfy. Granted, we visited during the Christmas/New Years' holiday, which may be considered out of season, but we were mostly disappointed in this hotel. We stayed in a one bedroom condo with a king bed with a pull out full-size couch available. There was a small, yet comfortable balcony overlooking the golf course. While everything initially looked nice, […] we soon discovered that every piece of furniture in the condo was uncomfortable, from the bed/mattress to every piece of furniture...couch and chairs extremely overstuffed to the point of "no give". The condo, though roomy, was extremely noisy. There does not appear to be any sound deadening between rooms. We could hear the spoken conversations of our neighbors. We could hear every footstep coming up the stairs. We could hear the water-torture rain drips for hours from a passing storm because of poorly designed and/or clogged gutters. We could hear every cabinet door being opened and closed by our neighbors. We could hear the morning wake up call of the leaf blower out front on Saturday morning. Bathroom was not up to "resort" standards. Small and tight with only one small sink. Of the supposed 4 restaurants, only two were open...sports bar or higher end dining. There was no room service available as it apparently ends after Labor Day. Thankfully, the kitchen had enough equipment for comfortable cooking and would work for most families. On the plus side, the staff was pleasant and as helpful as possible. The restaurant provided a good quality meal. The grounds are nice. It is very convenient to Williamsburg and provides a shuttle to and from. If it was either quiet OR comfortable, we would have been more tolerant of the deficits. "Very comfortable for families"
This hotel is next to the amusement park and close to other attractions. The best thing for us was the large suite with plenty of room for the family to hang out and play board games in the evenings. The kids really enjoyed the indoor pool with a large hot tub. The staff was nice and we will return!

You re only 5 minutes from colonial williamsburg when you leave the resort. They pamper you there and it's worth every penny you spend to stay.

Great location, yet they provide complementary shuttle service to Busch Garden. Very private. The only thing we weren't happy about was that the bedroom was chilly. It's colder than the living/dining room area. Overall, it's a great place to stay with kids!

The resort is gorgeous! I cannot believe the amenities that guests can use for free - lap pool, whirlpool, hot tub, sauna, gym. I enjoyed the morning walk at the Marina. The room is very clean and the bathroom is really spacious and nice, the shower is heavenly. The beds and pillows are very comfortable. The people who work there are very nice, friendly, […] polite and helpful. The restaurants are really good. I enjoyed the Eagle's bar! The hotel's location is excellent. "Breath Taking"
This hotel/resort is really amazing, the landscaping and surroundings are breath taking.

We booked king size room and got a queen. The floors and walls are all wood construction meaning you heard EVERY foot step from neighbors above and to the left of you ALL night. I was very disappointed in the accommodations. The view was beautiful however I had to come home to get rest. The noisiest hotel I have every stayed in.

We booked Kingsmill Resorst sight unseen at about 11:30 p.m. at another hotel (it was filthy). This was our anniversary weekend and Kingsmill saved the day. The grounds are beautiful. "Disappointing"
Expected a 4-5 star hotel experience at this top tier golf resort. I've stayed at much nicer 3-star hotels. Room was okay except for several spiders, webs, and ants. Didn't appear balcony had ever been cleaned - dirty and covered in cobwebs. This was a family trip - kids were terrified of spiders and disappointed the pools were closed. "Immaculate, Convenient, Peaceful, Amenities, A+"
My children and I had a wonderful stay at Kingsmill, and look forward to returning someday! There are dozens of reasons to love this place and only things that I didn't love. The first is that the washing machine in our suite did not work. It did not need a repair, it merely needed to be leveled. I spoke with the staff five times about this before giving […] up. The back right leg was adjusted too low, and simply needed to be raised an inch. It was in a closet, so I couldn't do it myself. Maintenance could not figure it out. I expect nice, working appliances at a resort of this caliber. It would wash the clothes, but shut down during the spin cycle, so it took over 2 hours to dry a load of wringing wet clothes. This absolutely DROVE ME TO DISTRACTION on my trip. Williamsburg in August is hot and sweaty, and we were re-wearing clothes. I was offered laundry service, and a convenience credit though. Secondly, the fees are expensive. The restaurant prices didn't shock me, as I come from the New York Metro area. However, fees for tennis, golf and the spa are high, and resort guests are offered the same prices as the public. That being said, we loved staying at Kingsmill! The grounds are immaculate. Our suite was right on one of the golf course and had a beautiful view. The tennis courts are plentiful and nice. We were near a pool and the main building. There are so many activities in the area, we never made it to the indoor pool, but the bar, snack bar and restaurants we went to were lovely and the food was good. The breakfast buffet in the dining room overlooking the James River was a highlight. The suite was roomy, comfortable, and had very nice furnishings and décor. I enjoyed sitting on the back porch. The bed and pillows felt like sleeping on a cloud. All of the staff there is amazing – so warm and helpful. Just one upgrade: I spoke with a rep on the phone while I was at the resort to ask about the spa. ( I don't think it was the spa I called, but the central number.) She has a very snarky attitude that was not appreciated. She was the ONLY one with that reception. Everyone else was wonderful!

This hotel did not seem 4 diamond at all to me. The rooms seemed more like mini condo units. Our room had dust on the lamps and dead bugs and cobwebs in the corner of the room. We were not at all impressed.

A friend and I, heading back to Wmbg. for our high school reunion decided to splurge with a stay at Kingsmill. I wouldn't have considered it except hotels.com offered a great rate. highlights: - EXCELLENT french roast coffee and tasty food at the Mill (near tennis courts). - great seating, music and refreshments at the marina. - EXCELLENT gym facility […] (important to me), locker room and pools. - Sitting poolside outside, then doing laps in the indoor pool was a real treat. - Landscaping is beautiful and people were really nice. lowlights: - our room was in Graves' Ordinary, near the marina, and the people in the room upstairs sounded like elephants walking around in the morning. Next time i'll ask for an 'upstairs' room. - the air conditioning unit was so loud that when it was set to 'auto' it kept waking me up every time the fan went on. leaving it on 'on' all the time helped that. i still felt it was loud, though. esp when traveling to Busch Gardens. However, would like for there to be planned activities for the 3+ yr old set. My son already has been to many parents nights out and has participated by himself in other group activities. The cut off age of 5 seems a bit much esp when 3+ olds are potty trained.

This resort is more catered to corporate outtings. We were there off season I guess. None of restaurants were regularly open and the best place they had for tropical feel was only open one night during our stay. They have a wonderful set up just not many choices. They should have jet ski rentals and more options to take care of the more active set. […] Baby pool had bird poop in it which was never properly cleaned. I really enjoyed my stay at kingsmill resort in williamsburg. I will stay there again next time i visit busch gardens. Their resturants serve great food and i also had a great facial at their spar.

I realize that the buildings look a little "dated" but there is nothing that isn't up-to-date about the service and quality of Kingsmill. From the moment we stepped out of our vehicle someone greeted us, escorted us to the front desk and announced our arrival and to please assist us. Since the view we requested was incorrect the lady at the front desk […] immediatly set to giving up an upgraded view of the James River. Our room was ready an about 40 minutes before the normal check in time as well. We enjoyed drinks and dining at the Eagles which was top notch. Our deluxe room with King sized bed was spacious and had EVERy ammenity. We got surprise when we returned from our dinner and time away to turn down service with 4 choc. wafers and two bottled waters. The waitstaff was very friendly and helpful. They have a lovely Marina with an outdoor restaurant, a huge pool outside and inside. The Mill serves delicious ice cream and pastries that you can eat looking out over the tennis courts and a lovely breakfast sandwich if you are not in the mood for a larger meal in the morning. We were there for my bfriend birthday getaway. The resort is very pretty, clean and a lot to do on SUMMER time. The front desk answered all my questions about where to go and where to eat.
