Wonderful staff. Great location--close to conference center, but diverse and pleasant surroundings allow for sense of escape in off-conference hours. Ala Moana has restaurants, book-store, high-end department stores, and nice grocery store. Away from bustle of Waikiki, but close enough to take easy shuttle. Recommend highly this hotel!

The hotel is situated about a quarter-mile from Ala Moana Park, with nice walking paths and one of the best beaches in the Honolulu area--much cleaner and less crowed than over-developed Waikiki, and a favourite of locals. The largest shopping mall in the Islands is essentially on the premises. Buses leave to everywhere on Oahu from the mall (no need […] for a car here). However, when booking one needs to be aware of the difference between the Kona and Waikiki Towers of the hotel; we arbitrarily booked the former and got a small room overlooking the car park; staff was helpful and we were able to upgrade to Waikiki Tower where we had a beautiful room with a balcony, coffee maker, microwave and fridge, and a magnificent view. We enjoyed the hotel and service. our only complaint related to the food service. We did not like the Japanese - style place, very amateurish. the hotel should have a coffee shop. Room service was sorely missed but the pizza delivery partially made up for it. Finally, the Chinese restaurant was a highlight.

I recently stayed there for three days while attending a workshop and found it very difficult to get food. While they have a little market/drug store, I do not like eating food that I would buy at a 7 Eleven. What happen to their room service that they use to have years ago? We wanted to get away for a couple of day and found out stay to be pretty nice. The hotel had a small night club and a couple of restaurants. It is all right next to a huge shopping complex which had everything we needed that we forgot to pack. The room was nice enough with a view of the harbor.

Ala Moana Hotel location is very convinence, it is right next to the Ala Moana Shopping Center which is the biggest shopping center in Honolulu...

I loved my stay at Ala Moana. Was very convenient to be right next door to the shopping centre. Service was great, and i liked Rumours, which was the night club there. Overall was awesome!

The Ala Moana was a good over night stop hotel. My husband and I arrived late evening from a very long flight. We were given a nice quiet room quickly and efficiently. The room was clean and roomy with two comfortable queen beds. Been to Hawaii 7 times, stayed in Waikii 4 times. Ala Moana was cool. Met people from all points of compass. Park across street was very improved . Hotel staff was great.

The Ala Moana Hotel was full due to an airport strike and so my original room was not available. The wait to check in was about an hour but when I got to the desk the clerk was super nice and upgraded my room. I was very happy with the staff and the room! This is our second time staying at Ala Moana and we'll be back!

They forgot to clean my room for an entire day. Service at counter was good but the cost for keeping a rental car at the hotel is crazy. Laundry service was OK, but recommend not getting the folded service, folding procedures leave more wrinkles that were there before dry cleaning. When they did do the laundry, laundry tickers were not replenished causing […] me to go outside of the hotel for cleaning. Affordable, clean, small, great location right next to the shopping mall. A bit far from other fancy hotels and restaurants but not too far. Great ocean view if you get the ocean view tower. Get the waikiki tower. Its worth it.

I was stayed here for 5 days ,be frank, the hotel was clean and tidy,the location is near Ala Monana Centre,convenience to shop but the hotel staffs was completely not nice and unhelpful. I gained a very bad experience here and will not choose this hotel anymore

Simply stated, it was great. It's clean, beautiful, close to restaurants, parks and the beach and, as my wife says, it is very close to great shopping.

Cons: small room, hard bed, limited TV channels, noisy AC, basic uninspiring breakfast fare. Pros: Clean, friendly staff, right there at Ala Moana Shopping Center the shopping Mecca.

This hotel is a good lower cost alternative to the Waikiki hotels but a little further away from Waikiki beach. Very good access to the Ala Moana mall (attached to parking lot), nice pool facilites, easy access to Ala Moana Beach Park.

Staff is friendly. Registration lady was nice enough to give me a ticket for a one free appetizer at the Mai Tai Bar (Mall and hotel are one property. I found out ticket is only good if you buy $30.00 worth of food & drinks there, I just went ahead and paid for the appetizer). The hotel room is VERY small, too small for the price. Great place to stay while I'm visiting home. Ultra convenient to the best restaurants and shopping. The beds need to be cycled out soon...it wasn't too comfortable.

I remember this hotel from Bob Barker's "Price is right" game ca. 40+ yrs, and thought this would be an old hotel but pleasantly surprised to find it clean and updated just like new. It is super convenient to Ala Moana Shopping center which has everything from large eatery to upscale stores. You don't even have to go to Waikiki downtown to shop. Friendly and courteous staff . Valet and Room Service were awesome.

Turned away for early check-in & told to come back after three. Came back at 4pm and had to wait one and a half hours too get a key... Only two employees checking in a crowd that went out to the street. Bed was small and poor quality.

We were very happy with this hotel. It has a great location, its connected with the Ala Moana mall which is the largest open air mall. The bus and tram stops are also at the mall so its easy to get around. The rooms were functional and clean. I just didn't like the pillows which were really lumpy :( but other than that the room also had a nice balcony […] with a good view. Very close by is also the Ala Moana beach park, and the beach there is actually better than some part of Waikiki. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to friend and family. Basic accomodation but convenient to the Ala Moana shopping center.

It's hard to beat the location, especially if you want to walk to several key locations. Parking is not cheap but less than Waikiki hotels.

Actually the majority view was of the parking lot of the mall next door. VERY distant and small view of a marina. Smallest room I have ever stayed in. No room service. Front desk couldn't tell me where vending was in my building. Gift shop downstairs ripped us off for cheap shirts we needed but were desperate to buy for work. All the people were very nice, helpful and professional from the front desk to the garage. They helped me stay an extra night when I got in a bind. The only thing missing in the room was tissues. Good coffee and a nice view. I'd stay there again.

With the exception of the unfriendly attitude of the lady checking me in, my stay at the hotel was very comfortable. I have stayed at the hotel many times before and typically have always been treated nicely it really must have been an off day for the reception on this day.

Very small rooms. Uncomfortable Bed and the water pressure is extremely poor. Either you get very cold water or very hot. I was in town to work at the Ala Moana Shopping Center for three days. The Ala Moana Hotel is right next door and very convienent. I was able to walk to the mall every day and the stay at the hotel was comfortable. The staff were very helpful.

Our experience with this hotel was horrid. First off, I have stayed in this hotel, on business related trips, in the past -- in the Waikiki tower, and was very pleased with the experience. However, this was my first (and last) experience with the Kona tower experience. The rooms are Liliputian in size, and very Spartan in furnishings and amenities. […] The biggest disappointment, however, came in the surly attitude of the staff -- they, literally, spent the first two days of our stay telling us what we were NOT entitled to, and making it patently clear to my wife, and me, that we were in the "coach-class" category of guest.
