The hotel is very basic. Bed, dresser, shower, etc. It was clean, though the shower curtain was moldy. One thing that would make a big difference would be for their shuttle to run downtown/to Old Port. Then the distance (it's about a $10 cab ride) wouldn't seem as big a deal. Hey, do you like being woken up at 3 a.m. by rowdy hotel guests and constantly slamming doors? Do you also like complaining to the front desk about this, only to have them look at you with a blank "what am I supposed to do" look? Well then, La Quinta Inn is the place for you! We stayed here two nights, and dealt with rowdy other rooms both nights. On […] top of this, the room had a noisy heater, the elevator for the hotel takes about five minutes to operate (there's only one), and the aforementioned doors aren't rigged to close gently.....they slam, every time. Great hotel to stay in Portland. However, I do not understand why people with pets are put on the fourth floor. Great stay anyway.

The room wasn't very up to date, but it was very comfortable. We walked the mile or so to downtown and it was just long enough to feel inconvenient. The neighborhood it's in didn't feel the safest either. We walked into our and it reaked of smoke and musty mold. Not impressed. However the beds were very comfy.

Near the Amtrak, affordable and clean, Staff was nice and a great continental breakfast. Smoking and non smoking. 207 taxi co. is nice to get around but it is a $10. bill to get to Old Port District

The hotels in Old Port can be pricey and they seem to book up quickly. The hotel itself was well kept, the staff were all very friendly and helpful, the location is up past Congress street which isn't the best area. I'd recommend taking a cab if you are going any where especially at night. Cab was $10 (tip included) from the hotel to Fore Street. The […] only negative thing about this hotel is that the bed was the most uncomfortable bed I've ever slept in and the pillows were horrible. Bring your own if you can! Also, make sure you check the temperature on the thermostat before you go to bed, the room gets very hot and it's pretty loud when it turns on. Very pleased with the hotel and amenities - especially appreciated the early morning shuttle to the airport. Staff very friendly and helpful. Rooms very clean and fresh; beds very comfortable.

The room was clean. The people were friendly. I had wonderful conversations with everyone, even with the cleaning crew. I'll come back again.

Convenient to downtown Portland and inexpensive, but thin walls, a clean but uncomfortable mattress and slow tub drain stopped me from being able to rate this hotel greater than a 3. Would only stay again if absolutely no other preferred hotels had availability.

We picked the hotel by close proximity to a meeting in town. The neighborhood looks a combination industrial/low income housing, which left much to be desired.

I wanted a quiet place to sleep and this place is right next to the train tracks! Expect frequent noisy trains and horn blasts.

The hotel had good parking. The room heating was individualized and comfortable. I would recommend it. The local supermarket was close by along with the many restaurants.

Good location to get into downtown / old harbour - easy to find from major roads into Portland. Only drawback was noisy freight train which ran about twice each evening up to 11 p.m. Also opposite large milk depot, so looked a bit scruffy, but not a problem. Friendly staff. Rooms very satisfactory. Very comfortable beds with warm blankets. Toilet paper holders rather far from toilet; require a stretch. No body lotion provided. Good continental breakfast. Good Thai restaurant nearby, but grubby neighborhood; not nice to walk, especially at night.

Our room was better than expected. All the linens were bright white and the room was great! Everything I needed was included and the breakfast was very good too. The only thing I could have asked for was PBS as an option among the TV stations.

The hotel itself was fairly clean but the location was a bit away from the downtown area. It was raining and difficult to see the lines on the roads as we made our way downtown where all the resturants are. No shuttle service downtown.

Very friendly staff. They gave many suggests of restaurants in the area and tourist places. Bed was comfortable and the rooms are quite large.

Hotel was more than ok, but not excellent. Very clean and comfortable, however the beds were a little soft. The surrounding neighborhood was kind of bland, especially compared to the old port, but the price was excellent, given that by car we were very close to the port area.
